coming from an airline pilot: Had the cabin crew blocked the aisle before opening the cockpit door (standard procedure in most if not all airlines), the hijacker wouldn't have dived straight into the cockpit.
I am Ray Yes, they’re supposed to block the space between the aisle and the cockpit door side ways with a trolley. The trolley is sufficiently heavy and has brakes holding the wheels. So it should take a good amount of struggle to move, and therefore give sufficient time for the pilots to realise what’s happening and close the door. Procedures like these were put in place to prevent such incidents from occurring. Also, they have shown a crew member buzzing and entering the cockpit during taxi before take off to take the pilots’ order, this is a complete no no and they (including pilots) would be penalised for this during the post flight inquiry.
