I recently sold my Tesla stock to secure profits, but I'm retaining a portion for the long term, its growth potential is robust. I'm also considering diversifying my $400K stock portfolio, but I'm uncertain about managing risks in my next move.
When diversifying, spread investments across sectors and assets to lower risks. Research and consult a financial advisor for aligned decisions.

Let's see what happens. Have a few cousins with Tesla's but they hardly use their fsd. Still trying to get my head around it. I can see UK regulations making it very difficult for robotaxi implementation.

It's important to remember that Tesla has among the most advanced real time demand forecasting capabilities on the planet, which is only getting better as they increase AI and general compute.
I think people are undervalueing robotaxi, it will be so much cheaper and efficient for the consumer, they will use it for the comfort. people will buy less and less cars in the future is how I see it. We already have overproduction in IC cars for the next 24 moths, people are not buying. If wallstreet analyst is only looking at cars sales, than they will always stay behind of what retail already started to see.

Another good piece of research done here Hayley.
There’s a lot of water to go under the bridge with robotics. It will consume many billions to develop. Where are those funds going to come from? Tesla sales and margins are falling. The main car business is diminishing. Musk will require those profits for Optimus and all of his other projects.
The question to be asked is what happens if Musk’s dreams don’t come to fruition. The end result is years away and will require a lot of capital.
Most people will not want robots roaming around their houses and it’s very doubtful they’ll be able to do many tasks. Yes vacuum cleaners exist now and floor cleaners for sure but beyond that?
2 to 1 ratios of robots to humans is fanciful.
Anything is possible with the share price. Yes it could double in the next year on sentiment that whether these developments will be successful or not is another matter. The price won’t reflect the fundamentals at that time.
By buying more you are facing the issue of portfolio concentration risk. Having too much capital in 1 stock or a few can occur greater capital losses if the share price doesn’t perform.
There is a distinct difference between averaging down in an ETF compared to a specific stock. In many ETFs you are investing in 100 stocks with diversification in the sector. Returns may be reduced but the risk is much much less. I can’t reiterate that point highly enough.
As pointed out, returns from major tech indices have had brilliant outperformance over the long term so why take the risk in one stock where the outlook is not proven. It is based on hope that Musk vision will be successful but what happens if it’s not? That’s the question that needs to be taken into account in making investment decisions.
Remember Musk is a very convincing salesman who has done very well with the car business but is waning with it falling down the other side of the hill so to speak.
The EV market faces major challenges and competition is and will continue to eat away at margins reducing the available capital for further technological developments.

Tesla stock could double in two months, 12 months, or two years. Too many factors swirling around to be sure at this point. Any of those three predictions will not surprise me if they occur. What would surprise me is if the stock stayed below 225 over the next year or two
