In the late 1990's, I flew a pair of 60's for a Midwest corporation. It was a fun airplane to fly with wonderful performance; its climb performance was outstanding.
It’s important to note that one can buy a pre-owned Lear 60XR, but not a new one. Unfortunately, there will be no more new Learjets. I worked at Learjet back in the 1980’s, and I had the privilege of working on these amazing planes. The fact is, there is nothing else like a Learjet. They were (and still are) a cut above.
Challenger 604/5 or any Gulfstream, Larger Falcon. Even then, not the tallest in height (I am 6'4 so tough for me) but they do offer ample leg space and arm room for those flights 5 to 8 hours.@@JD-te6vm
So, as a non pilot, this jet caught my attention. However, I was surprised it takes over 1 mile to take off at sea level and 1100+ gallons of jet fuel per hour. I think I will set me sights a little lower.
The Learjet 60XR was never priced at $20 Million. At the absolute most it was priced at $15 Million. Most however, went out the door at $13 to $14 Million. SMH

Hey Jeff, thanks for sharing this. Yes, Learjets are amazing planes!
There is a new one, it's the bombardier learjet 75 liberty

Nice
Who overhaul this plane?
Perfect jet for flights under 2 hours. Any longer than that and the small space really starts to get to you. (You can't stand up if you are over 5"8)
What jet would you recommend for flights 4/5 hours?

I don’t like that feeling 😱
$15 Million??? Lear 60XR's (which have been out of production for a long time) can be had in the $3-5M range. wow
Since the price for a used model varies a lot, we always use the original price when the plane was new in the thumbnail
@@AviationBaseit was never $20 million.

Hey John, the fuel burn rate is about 1,100 pounds per hour, not 1,100 gallons
Wow...dreaming worth basically time left on engines crazy price
5 to 8 maybe 🎉..........I think triple retail over

Cody
15 Million nice try. Lucky to see 1.5M on the market.
Full-fuel payload only 660 lbs.?... So the 2 pilots, 1 pax, plus luggage? NOT impressive.
No, pilots are included so it is 3 pax. But how often do you need full fuel?
Out of date and out of production
Like most used airplanes.
660 lbs of gas? You can taxi around fir a while but never kea e the ground….for long😂😉
