This is the only DX9 of the squad that I currently own. Got him a couple months ago and finally unboxing this weekend for my Trapticons EX music vid. This video should help me mitigate breakage if that’s a thing with this fig. I’ll find out… Now! Thanks, Skully!
💡 DETAIL WISE... when u did a close-up of BOT MODE ---- IT LOOKS LIKE it's an UNFINISHED paint job...other than that -- guess i'm rolling with FANSTOYS - paint seems to make a difference - just my observation for my collection
They were smart to make the arms lighter. It doesn't matter so much that Wildrider and Breakdown are nice and heavy by comparison as it's fine that the legs are heavier. It's the arms that need to be lighter for sure. I think DX9 knew that the vast majority of collectors would be displaying this set as Menasor and it shows with the individual bot modes. This sets strong suit is absolutely combined and displayed as Menasor! It's certainly the value play as well these days with the reissue prices. 3 years ago the prices were a lot closer than they are today. I just bought this set for under $500 from ShowZ. For that price It seemed the best option for a Menasor to display. The FansToys are clearly the best but here we are 3 years later and still waiting on Deadend. That's not so good but I'm still looking at the FansToys for a team display. The DX9 set also scales best against the ZETA Superion and what I mostly needed it to match up with. I'm currently collecting the XTB Protectobots but passed on their Menasor. Mostly because of that nightmare to deal with Trailer for MotorMaster/Menasor. If they'd only skipped the base mode that probably would have solved a few issues with it. The reissue DX9 has some yellow and burgundy bits added into the trailer and Menasor elbows. Clearly borrowed from what XTB did with theirs.
Wait wait wait, you are saying this figure scales in bot mode with the regular mp cars (as the fanstoys do), even though the other two dx9 cars are oversized?!?
The more reviews I watch of all of these sets, the more I think, get the X-Transbots for car mode, the Fanstoys for Robot mode and DX-9 for the combine mode. That is if you have unlimited funds. Lol!!
I feel like because he is your favorite character you're going to be more crucial of it because of your attachment to that character. And as far as the proportions of him and wildrider compared to breakdown, the only thing i could see was breakdowns torso tapers in where as the other 2 are just blocks.
Thanks for the review Skully. Dead End was the only stunticon I had as a kid and I was thinking of getting a MP version of him. I would like to get FT or this since I'm not getting the others to do combining and want him as a standalone and he's roughly 8 inches or so.
I think it's pretty smart that deadend is a lighter toy. Wildrider and breakdown are legs so they got to be heavy to keep the combiner stable. Deadend is an arm, got to keep those light to help the ratchets and general posing.
This is gonna come off super nitpicky, but shouldn't he be a 928 instead of a 928 S4? The original toy was a 928 because the 928 S4 didn't even debut until the same year the Menasor toys were released. The first S4 was a 1987 model year car! Just a bit anachronistic, innit? Granted Bayverse Bumblebee was a 2010 camaro in 2007, but if this is going for g1 accuracy, I doubt that the admittedly inaccurate car depiction in the 1985 episode "The Key to Vector Sigma Part 1" was inteded to be a 1987 version of the Porsche 928.
I was in on it when Capone came out. I just have to wait til December to get him, since he'll ship with Giuliano (the price of "free shipping" from TFSource).
i like the different shades of colors on some of these figs it breaks up the monotony a little bit the reds all match and dont clash with each other at least.
Wow, that toy version of xtb Dead-end looks totally different than the toon version. Had they shown those ahead of time I may have opted for the toy version instead of toon.
It really seems like they cut as much weight as possible, since he is nothing but a glorified deco piece on the arms. The companies making the heavy arm bots better know what they are doing
If this is cheaper than any other line of the stunticons (?) then I’m going to get it. The last stunticon I had, was g-1 when they first hit the cartoon in 87’. And I havnt collected again since PotP ( Except the G-1 TRU back in 2003...n still missed out on Menasor somehow) ?? Still hsvnt got any 3rd party yet either. Just too many of em, gets confusing.with all brands. Use to think: there r so many TF lines out since 2003, y does one need a 3rd party?? Now that I’ve got most of every character now since starting in middle of the PotP Line, I’m wanting a version of each mode. And with combiners, you need 3! And I can’t find hardly any for moderate price yet., Defensor target exc. was lucky. Same with g-1.wal mart constructions this year. And found an open/baggie Chinese KO Bruticus for only $60. Was spot on with original., But..,doesn’t look like there anymore Hasbro/Tomy or re releases coming out again for a while?? Since they just did combiner wars. Jupiter is ok at $175, but fukcer sold out quickly., and WFC trilogy prob isn’t doing any?! Btw.. what’s the final WFC line?? It’s really a WFC Quadilogy; what with the- WFC Select Line. Anyways, nice colllection and review .
Are you trying to assume Takara is completely dead because of Tomy? Geez better clarify that part, and remember Takara started Transformers not Tomy. It was just carried over after the merger.
FT´s stunticons are better than these ones, to be honest... Fortunately for me, I don't care for the G1 Stunticons / Menasor, they look silly in robot mode.
After months of photos, weeks of video reviews, and tons of message board descriptions, we now have Bobby, making quite possibly the first, and ONLY claim that you need a screwdriver to put this into combined mode... Way to separate yourself from the pack there, bud!
one of these toys is worth half my salary in my country. glad you showcase em.
And probably worth the double or more in the country these toys are made.
13:25 what no comparison with Transformission (generation toy)? Looks like a decent bot. Thanks for the review. Do the front lights pop off much?
The best version of the Stunticons are their IDW selves
Don’t know he owns that anymore?
Your Merchandise should include the hallmark Skullface mask. Promote safety, and the gospel of Bobby Skullface!

Can’t find this guy anywhere here in the US. I need a Dead End stand-in, sick of waiting for FT.

Yeah you don’t need to unscrew anything for combine mode
no link in the description
Bobby "throwing shade on DX9 because he love Fanstoys soooo much" Face!
Does Bobby got his artwork on medical mask
Great bot. The price primarily Made me purchase this set of Stunticons.
You forgot Transformission in your Deadend lineup!
I still mutly laugh when you throw in tiger tracks.
could he be lighter than DX9 Wildrider because he's an arm in combined mode?

A bit off topic: Weijiang Toys was raided and taken down by the police in China yesterday.

Great review Bobby. I really need to start a 3P collection. Might get XTB Crackrock
Bobby Skullface I seen ur hands before, ur JB Purit hahaha

No review is complete without a Tigertracks size comparison.
Only way to complete a Dead End collection is to get a Porsche 928
I think that feeling you get with this figure is akin to me seeing Adam Driver shirtless in Last Jedi. What's with that WIDE torso Mac! lol

He should just slide in half. No need for unscrewing Bobby!
All those reds on the legs though... :/
Yep. No unscrewing. I have this figure and it just slides apart. Very easy.
Looks like that dude is wearing purple goggles instead of that being his visor-eyes.
No screwdriver needed bud...just slides apart.
i like the different shades of colors on some of these figs it breaks up the monotony a little bit the reds all match and dont clash with each other at least.
Man how about an award for how durable that Tiger Trax has to be. 🤣

None of the DX9 bots have seen robot mode in my collection - straight to combined mode.
Not bad but I'm going to stick with X-transbots.
Great all I can hear now is flip that flap lol
Dead End collection. I know what that's like *looks at my Bandai Legacy Megazords*.

That name, though... I mean, really... they just dropped the L

Man, the arm and leg transformations are so clever, it's such a shame that the overall robot mode looks like absolute ass.
While i do dig this as a transformation, me personally, im going XTB for my stunitcons, that direction just makes more sense to me
Those feeeeeeeeeet!!!!!! Nope
