Maverick, deh vid yah....deep. Dat part about how di JFF crush his chance of playing for Watford....had me. I felt the heartbreak 💔 for him. I too was critical of him about his indiscipline during the Simoes era but that Watford story was a soft spot for me.
Excellent content in this video. 👌🏽. I love this one

    Emotional indeed Maverick 😢
I'd love if you or anyone else, could put together a highlight reel of Blacka Pearl's performance on the field, and remind Kohn Public of the talent you dedicated this episode to.
Really feel it for him still. The fact that he didn't didn't didn't have an agent and found his way to Watford spoke volumes about his self confidence and his desire to succeed. But the JFF should answer some questions about the decision not to permit him to be signed by Watford.
When ghetto youth say that "people a fight against them", this could be seen as a prime example.

Boyd is justified in having no regrets. He was the biggest name in Manning Cup for Excelsior High School and a huge name for local football and he did make the national team. He went on to play PROFESSIONAL football at Swansea...yes professionally. No lazy man nuh play deh so.
The only regret he may have, is trying to please such an ungrateful following of Jamaicans. It is no mistake so many represent other countries.
Blacka Pearl will always remain a success story for ghetto youths of Jamaica. He was never and is not a failure. Big up XLCR Chris Bailey, Noah Cooke, Blacka Pearl ....name them all.

I remember when they'd introduce him as "Teenaged striker Walter Boyd." The most skillful Jamaican player that I've ever seen. I watched him play at Foxboro in Massachusetts when Jamaica played against the US in a CONCACAF match. Simoes gave Boyd a run with 5 mins left in the game. I saw Boyd bruck out the whole box as Foxboro lif' up under his prodigious skill. He then passed the ball to another Jamaican player, and the ball was cleared away. I'll never forget that game 🇯🇲 😊.

Blacka a real youth, very quiet & also not a easy youth to deal with if you don't understand. I used to play with him in the Excelsior gym & Sunday morning & uptil now at 45 yrs & old & I can tell you he's not a normal balla very talented, but was very lazy, but whenever that ball at his foot expect something special!!

Maverick, every Jamaican especially grassroots Jamaican who uses their natural abilities (mostly none scholastic talents) to earn a living, needs a lesson in how to manage:1) Time, 2) Dedication, 3) Discipline, 3) Arrogance, and proper behavioral skills. As youths we are most likely to be taught the opposite, it is a culture in our upbringing.

Great show. At first I was apprehensive that Maverick's sympathy would erode something football fans knew (that it all came down to Walter himself). I felt that Walter would not tell the truth, and he would do what many prima donna do - blame the Federation or coach for every little nick or wart - something they could never do in established football cultures.
In the end, you came to the correct conclusion - Walter Boyd had the world at his feat.
I will not blame Simoes or the Federation one bit. For example, Walter's discipline to attend training and keep his fitness is, as you confirmed, "notorious".
I am also pleased you did not put Boyd on live, because perhaps some of his fans would cry.
You can tell us in the future where he "is" now (e.g., his headspace, living, etc).
Thank you again for a great show.
    Keep up the good work.

Yes. I get it. Walter was not one to put in the hard work to improve himself. That's very bad and he can only have to fault himself for that. However, what I cannot see beyond though, is Watford's interest in him being thwarted by the JFF. Badmind is at the heart of everything wrong with Jamaicans. Prove me otherwise! How did being a stumbling block help the programme?

I was fortunate to watch him.play many times at Galaxy , National Team, etc. He was one of the most talented anywhere in the world. However, a culture of indiscipline, negative peer pressure, lack of vision, and poor conflict resolution cost him so much. I cant totally blame him because he also had poor guidance and a lack of proper leadership and support where and when it mattered most. I wish he can put behind him his failures and progress in whatever he's doing.

If that’s true, then the federation is vindictive and dirty. How can you have the heart to destroy a next’s man career that has no implication on you?
He came to Canada to do a friendly and the coach asked them to warm and the Pearl’s attitude to warm was frustrating everyone. The dude is extremely lazy for real. Still, the federation should have given him the benefit of the doubt and free him up.

With all due respect to the Pearl but 95% of the bad vibes that reach him are self inflicted wounds he was his own demise sadly. I hear a lot of people trying to make excuses for him and I think that’s not a fair analysis. His poor work ethic and lazy mentality towards training and indiscipline led to his downfall so sad. But we were well and truly entertained by his fancy footworks back in those days. Pearl was definitely a crowd favorite for sure.

How was he to be professional when he was never taught and Jamaica never had a culture of professionalism in his time? Walter Boyd born in any other country would’ve been a phenomenal world beater. Even though he is to take some of the blame I think the JFF and coaches in those times failed him as a youth. Discipline and professionalism are being instilled in our young sports women and men nowadays. It certainly wasn’t so when Walter was a youth. Still I say, we have not seen a baller the caliber of Walter Boys or none who can remotely fit in his shoes since he left the sport. He was simply world class. I first saw him when I went to a manning cup double header to support KC. Excelsior Match was the feature match of that double header and he made me watch every excelsior match since even though I never supported his school. I also watched almost every Match he played for Jamaica plus followed him when he was at Swansea. He was that good

But not only did Walter's behavior might have resulted in him potentially loosing millions in lucrative football contracts but I think it also prevented other aspiring soccer players from reaching similar goals that Walter threw away.

No Walter Boyd wasn't a lazy football player. I use to watch him play for Galaxy in Clarendon. I never saw him live in England but I saw few play off games with him on Skysport. He work hard for Swansea.

How can you play someone who does not turn up to training on a regular basis? Can you then discipline anyone else in the squad?
