I feel like you haven't set the context of the video well enough because the best answer depends on the rank and the team, and the selected answer for 2 and 3 are actually really bad choices for everything except the highest ranks or when you have a full team in voice. Even in champ I wouldn't make that decision because nobody is reliable as last man back and the guy making that pass will usually just go for backboard over goal and not the corner or double commit with the last guy back trying to field your pass back in.

Amazing video!!! It was really creative and you can tell you put time and effort into the video as you made sure the answers were correct and it helped me on my decision making. 👍🏻
I actually think in #4 going for the demo isn't bad at all. Sure, there's a lot of space between the shooter and the defender, but you're already supersonic and have boost pads available, so the demo is more likely, which would result in an open net. Also, I know this is a pro game, but if that were me, I'd definitely have more chances of getting that demo than doing anything meaningful on the backboard.
0 boost, would lose supersonic by turning. It could work, but it would just be a lot riskier, and your teammate will be assuming you're grabbing the 100 first, at which point you're late for the demo as the defender will have taken off. Taking the boost is good, and the fact that you can also get a good chance/pressure after makes it the best option. If the timings were just different, or you had boost left, demo would have been very good.
@@AlgaeGaming nah demo was much better the 2 other oppoments are out of the play and all your team gonna be first for them so if he can demo its will be goal an if he couldnt its will be insane hard shot to defend cuz he can shoot it completley down or completly high if he wouldve shot it down its ez save so if he shoot this at backboard,if the defender shoot it its pretty much only the kickoff guy to get back first if i will go backboard or demo and as u saw the defender missed so if its goes comleptly down from bounce(which is what happnend even with out the pass) the shooter can score and if it will bounce normally the kickoff guy should score it but when i choose A(backboard)1.if the defender gets it.its more time to recover than if u going for demo (even with no boost, dont understimate the power of little pads and flips,{learnt in in 1s})and as u saw the defender didnt got it its true that doesnt matter where he pass it, its a pass(or down to the shooter, or far for the kickoff guy) but lets be honest to take the risk that even a dia can block on the backboard(not toxic to rlcs he just missed it,so im saying u shouldnt think that he will miss) holy how did i write all of that
Very good video except you rarely see these type of plays in diamond and lower lobbies. So we're probably talking about 20% of the players who can do this consistently. But hey very informative and you never know I improve so much I can do these things as well one time :p
You’re totally right and thank you for the kind words. But I hope you understand that there’s no neutral rank I could use for these plays. No matter what, someone’s rank is going to be left out. I ended up choosing pro gameplay because, as I mentioned, their mechanics are way more consistent so you don’t have to take that factor into account so the decisions are based on the positioning itself rather than what you think your teammates and opponents are mechanically capable of. I can’t appease everyone with this type of video but I do my best by giving thorough explanations of why each decision was best so everyone can learn no matter their rank. Regardless, I’m glad I still helped you learn since that was the main point of the video. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment!
It's mainly cus your not used to being able to rely on your teammates to make some of the passes or that If they make a perfect pass, you dk if you will be able to score off it, I'm sure if he made a play video instead of an Rlcs one you'd get them right
2 is the one that doesnt make sense to me lol. Theres already a guy at midboost. Why move up when he could be a passing option too and you can just wait for them to possibly intercept
MomoV that’s just because of the speed at this level, it would get cut off instantly and then your in a 1v3. At lower ranks you could do a lot there and it could work out for you
It’s way easier to see the right play when you have a paused screen and 3 seconds. I guessed most of them right, but I know that in game, I would have chose wrong about 50% of the time lol. Loved the vid. Thanks man
You did a very fair job of explaining how each scenario would pan out while explaining the pro choice. I got a few answers wrong in my mind while I was making plat decisions like a plat.
Found this incredibly helpful. I'm a bit higher rated player (1600-1700) yet I still tested my 3s game sense, scored 8/10. Please keep on doing quizzes like this! Love it! :)
For the 3rd one that wasn't even fair cos his team could have been anywhere on the field and both might not have rotated up, yet he went there because he was in comms with his teammates and knew way more about what is happening than us. Also some players are more mechanical so decisions will change between those with good rotations and those who are more mechanical. Additionally, there is a big difference between playstlyes so only few scenarios are things you can actually guess consistently unless you play against these teams.
ive watched a few of your videos but the understated clarity of this one got me to sub. it feels like i actually took something away from this video so please continue to make content like this.
Damn this shit is fascinating, I knew this game had a lot of depth but I've never seen it layed out like this before. Could you do a similar video for JohnnyBoi's 2v2 and 1v1 show matches? It would be extremely helpful.
You should make something like "plat answers" and it would be just bonus answers to the same situations but you know your team doesn't rotate. So for example the first situation "plat answer" would be: "you back off to back post because that person you just saw rotate behind you will not stay near back post and will go for the ball."
I found it difficult because I’m only like c3 and going up the backboard for a pass in that rank just wouldn’t work. Same with turning up the wall, my teammates wouldn’t pass it up to me, so I got a good few of them wrong
I how due to the extra time I'm getting all the answers right, but answering them like "Answer's probably B, but god damn it I would have gone for A in a game" then Wayton's like "The answers B". "I KNEW IT"
Great video Wayton. Maybe you have done it already.. but have you considered doing this for the various ranks? I get the reason that pros are way more consistent. BUT not all of us have the mechanicals to do what the pros do, and therefor affects our decision making. There are some plays I dont even consider as a result.
Can you make another video of this, but newer? I really loved it and want to see how I can do in today's meda. I've also watched this video so many times that I know the answers. Your video's are awesome and I support you all the way. Thank you so much!
For a lot of these, it kind of depends on what your teammates are doing. If they aren't doing the right thing, the answer sort of changes. For example in clip 2, the last time we see Satthew, he's going to the right side of the field. We HOPE that he grabs boost and turns upfield so he can pass, but a lot of lower GC players might decide to "play it safe" and head back into net, rotating in behind YOU (as you are now leaving the net). Alternately, he could be pushing upfield hoping that you could pass it to him. I think that this specific situation has levels to understanding what's going on. Basically, all I'm saying is that, in this video, there are things happening with MULTIPLE players during each play that people should be paying attention to.
Please keep in mind that they are pros and have great mechanics, if you're not able to pass it from the wall please don't go on the wall. This is the right decision if you can do it and if your teammates can react.
As a mechanical C2 player I now have definitive proof that I am indeed stupid. Got 2/10, this is by far the most interesting and helpful video I have seen on decision making. Would appreciate more videos in this style, especially with the short timer
This is incredibly eye opening, as someone who is smack in the center of diamond and really starting to figure out the game and apply myself, it’s very humbling to realize how utter crap my positioning and decision making is, I’ve always considered myself a sort of anchor for my team, making strong defensive decisions as evident by my success with defense related questions, but this helped me realize that because of my passive and defensive nature, I’m constantly out of position on the offense, which is generally much more difficult to realize because it doesn’t always lead to you being scored on, as supposed to making a poor defensive decision and immediately being punished. Without the ability to execute on goal opportunities, or to make them in the first place, you’ll never be able to capitalize and reach your full potential as a player or team when you’re only skill is prolonging the inevitable, thank you for this incredible insight that will surely help me in my career to come, thank you.
A couple of them are “correct” only for pro gameplay. For example, some of those passes up to the walls and backboard. At my rank, I wouldn’t go up the wall because I know my teammates can’t get a good enough pass up to me, and even if they did I wouldn’t get a good pass/shot off the wall. In some of those situations at lower ranks, other options are better.
Ok, now, it's actually a very good video considering that these are situations that can 'maybe' appear in a game, it's nice to see if you have that sense of a game while playing, but realistically, most of the examples are just so utopic, and I know these are the best case scenarios (with reliable teammates and perfect communication), but if you really want to work and understand which are the best decisions you can make, then this isn't helpful, just because pro gameplay and even high elo gameplay is so beyond the truth of the games of most of the players in soloq. Maybe, a video like this but showing low elo gameplay, with tons of errors and bad decision making, will be more helpful to most of us, and explain why those errors occur, and why people take those decisions instead of the 'perfect' or even good ones. Anyway, this is just a constructive criticism, and I would love to see this idea implemented on future videos. Keep up the nice work, Wayton!
"This one should be easy" right if I were a pro or had comms but even in champ lobbies, I would never position myself expecting a pass while solo queuing. I'm sure GCs pass the ball but it's not the best advice for lower ranks because you're out of position and not getting a pass. I think this should have had lower ranks to be more relevant to the viewers. Maybe diamond lobbies
Another great video Wayton, happy birthday aswell. I would say, try to grab situations from different levels for next time. Or maybe make this a series at each rank set. Explaining these situations, while interesting, doesn't provide much information to a normal player. A "Decision Making at Gold" video or diamond or play etc would be a very good series. kinda similar to Khan's why you suck at RL but with an actual good player
8/10 I got #2 and #9 wrong. Great video and a good way to show lower rank people that they aren’t as good at rotations as they think. I’ll be using this a lot when I help out plats-champs to try and give them a better understanding of what rotations should look like
Wow, I'm high diamond and this video made me realise how much i don't know..Wayton, this is beautiful content - I hope we see much more of this, especially for 2s or 1s. Another suggestion: maybe mention that subscribing to the channel is free - it sounds silly, but apparently many people don't know it. Keep up the great work!
Would it be a good idea to do a series of these? Do lower ranks, mid ranks, and higher ranks or something like that. All solo queue and do it for 2v2 as well.
Please do more of these but take random replays of "normal" ranks, maybe d3-c2 under the premise of solo queue, I think that could be pretty educational. Even if the replay doesn't show the right choice, you can explain why they messed up.
"be a pass option".. My gold teammate:"nah I'll just dribble this and lose the ball" Me late to go back because waiting for pass My gold teammate:"tm8 where r u?"
Actually its harder for us to know whats the best option cuz they have coms so they know who's where we dont have coms so we don't know what the other players are doing
So now i am not only dumb in playing but also in decision making as well even after already watching all these rlcs videos before. Btw, it was a great video
#1 decision is seriously debatable, as you may want to sit in net, and delay your challenge against Alpha54 if the ball goes there. The reason for this is because there is no guarantee ViolentPanda is going back to net. From his perspective, he has a teammate close to the ball, and another in net. You can also notice he's on 0 boost, because as soon as he picks up a pad he uses it all. He was certainly considering making a B-line for the boost, since his view didn't encompass what Aztral was seeing. If Panda did indeed go back to net, it would most likely have been from Aztral calling he was moving forward, but in an online game with no comms, you could very well put yourself in a nasty situation if Kaydop hits the backboard, Alpha will be up, and you'll be too far forwards with Panda recovering from boost grab.
9/10 Nice, just missed the first demo option, never stopped to think about the distance between the goalkeeper and the ball, only the number of players defending on each side.
At #4, sure I agree the solution is right if you are at least Grand Champ, but otherwise I feel like it's just too hard mechanically to pull that play off and maybe you should just head back so the mate who grabbed boost can get into the play. Anyways, I really like this format!
Me: Guesses answer wrong

I feel that Wayton is waaaaaay underrated (pun intended) . I mean, look at his guiding content. Who else has told you things like: "You should hit the ball as early as possible while training" ?? I don't think anyone else has, I might be wrong. Anyways what I am trying to say is that he is filling out those little holes in knowledge that other guide creators haven't and I am really grateful. Give this man a cookie and a sub!
0:00 man i love the Sunless Khan intro😂
No one:
Wayton on every question: This one should be easy
@@AlgaeGaming nah demo was much better
the 2 other oppoments are out of the play and all your team gonna be first for them so if he can demo its will be goal an if he couldnt its will be insane hard shot to defend cuz he can shoot it completley down or completly high if he wouldve shot it down its ez save so if he shoot this at backboard,if the defender shoot it its pretty much only the kickoff guy to get back first if i will go backboard or demo and as u saw the defender missed so if its goes comleptly down from bounce(which is what happnend even with out the pass) the shooter can score and if it will bounce normally the kickoff guy should score it
but when i choose A(backboard)1.if the defender gets it.its more time to recover than if u going for demo (even with no boost, dont understimate the power of little pads and flips,{learnt in in 1s})and as u saw the defender didnt got it its true that doesnt matter where he pass it, its a pass(or down to the shooter, or far for the kickoff guy) but lets be honest to take the risk that even a dia can block on the backboard(not toxic to rlcs he just missed it,so im saying u shouldnt think that he will miss)
holy how did i write all of that
oh and "easily dodge the demo"??? maybe he is rlcs so he can dodge better but the otehr team is rlcs so they know better to demo so its balanced...
true that just mean you trust your team mate do their part , and do what it take not get that lost
incoming I GOT THEM ALL RIGHT BUT IM STILL IN PLAT
Same :) lol 😂
same but gold
Got 9/10 but none of my friends would believe me
Very good video except you rarely see these type of plays in diamond and lower lobbies. So we're probably talking about 20% of the players who can do this consistently. But hey very informative and you never know I improve so much I can do these things as well one time :p
20%.... i think 5% or lower
Bruh I legit only got 2, I'm such a plat lol. Should be in gc though.
Brooo I got no right and I am a GC stuck in bronze
same
It's mainly cus your not used to being able to rely on your teammates to make some of the passes or that If they make a perfect pass, you dk if you will be able to score off it, I'm sure if he made a play video instead of an Rlcs one you'd get them right
2 is the one that doesnt make sense to me lol.
Thanks man
This is bad ass, Wayton. Might be my favorite of your videos!
You did a very fair job of explaining how each scenario would pan out while explaining the pro choice. I got a few answers wrong in my mind while I was making plat decisions like a plat.
Best series on youtube to learn RL the right way. Thnx Wayton, keep it up
Wayton teaches better than my teachers
I totally love the decision making quizzes. I've watched this and one of you other ones multiple times, they're super helpful.
DUDE, thats EXACTLY the type of video i need to rank up!! THX!!!
Found this incredibly helpful. I'm a bit higher rated player (1600-1700) yet I still tested my 3s game sense, scored 8/10. Please keep on doing quizzes like this! Love it! :)
Just what I needed. I've been yo-yoing through plat and diamond for two months and my mechanics have improved greatly. Has to be decision making.
Wayton: "This one should be obvious"
Me: *Was deciding which of the two wrong answers I should pick*
Dude, this video is so good. Such rewatchable content man.
Hi Wayton! I wish you could make more decision making videos, since this is the main reason we suck at this game and get stuck at the lower ranks!
It’s funny how much a quiz can teach you. This gave me a lot of insight and is going to help my decision making a lot. Ur the best wayton.
So for example the first situation "plat answer" would be: "you back off to back post because that person you just saw rotate behind you will not stay near back post and will go for the ball."
bro this was such a dope video been playing rocket league for so long and got most of these wrong lmaoo
Great video man. Your formations are the best
I found it difficult because I’m only like c3 and going up the backboard for a pass in that rank just wouldn’t work. Same with turning up the wall, my teammates wouldn’t pass it up to me, so I got a good few of them wrong
My decisions after watching wayton: BACK POST NO MATTER WHAT
I how due to the extra time I'm getting all the answers right, but answering them like "Answer's probably B, but god damn it I would have gone for A in a game" then Wayton's like "The answers B". "I KNEW IT"
More of this! This is very educational.
Bruh I just rewatched your 1st decision making video thx for uploading just in time :D
This video will make me consider getting on the backboard more, thats one of my skills i need to work on ingame in order to improve quick
Opposed*
Tiphilion Gaming you just had to do it to him didn’t ya?
A couple of them are “correct” only for pro gameplay. For example, some of those passes up to the walls and backboard. At my rank, I wouldn’t go up the wall because I know my teammates can’t get a good enough pass up to me, and even if they did I wouldn’t get a good pass/shot off the wall. In some of those situations at lower ranks, other options are better.
I now realise how much I base my decisions off of the ineptitude of my teammates and opposition. It's like a different game at the pro level
What about D on every question? Air dribble to ceiling shuffle into chain flip reset to dbl tap?
This was such an awesome video! If you made this into a series I know I would watch it start to finish
Last decision making video: GO BACK POST!
This decision making video: PASS IT!
Me thinking I chose the right answer
“This answer should be obvious”
Lol I laughed
the thing is...me and my plat 1-2 friends cant do these off the wall/backboard touches, shots or passes
This is really good. I feel that it might help to fully replay the play (maybe different POV) after your answer and explanation.
Well put.
I’ll be using this a lot when I help out plats-champs to try and give them a better understanding of what rotations should look like
This is a nice way to become more aware of decision mistakes. Great vid :)
All solo queue and do it for 2v2 as well.
this video was so awesome thank you, as a c2 i learned quite a lot actually. mostly about my own ego and how selfish my plays sometimes are.
Please do more of these but take random replays of "normal" ranks, maybe d3-c2 under the premise of solo queue, I think that could be pretty educational. Even if the replay doesn't show the right choice, you can explain why they messed up.
"be a pass option"..
My gold teammate:"nah I'll just dribble this and lose the ball"
Me late to go back because waiting for pass
My gold teammate:"tm8 where r u?"
Nice job! You seriously should do more of this ! Road to GC like this would be awsome!
Omg the goals in the beginning.. Im new and will never be this good. Im so bad that i miss the ball 8 of 10 times
"beyond godlike facking horrible"...
just means need more videos!
Thank you Wayton again! :D
The previous video of this quiz I disagreed with almost all of them, but this one I agreed with all. Good video.
Make more of this!!!
For 2v2s if possible
Actually its harder for us to know whats the best option cuz they have coms so they know who's where we dont have coms so we don't know what the other players are doing
So now i am not only dumb in playing but also in decision making as well even after already watching all these rlcs videos before.
Btw, it was a great video
The thing is the right awnser here is just for pro’s so you have to get in the mind of one to make decisions
10:26 he used like 10 boost
Yeah but he was going to the left, so he needed a lot of boost just to follow the ball for another touch
When i didnt watch this video we kept getting scored on but just 5 of these decision making helped me reach the rank diamond
9/10 Nice, just missed the first demo option, never stopped to think about the distance between the goalkeeper and the ball, only the number of players defending on each side.
where can I find more videos like this? It’s way more helpful than most other vids on Rocket League
At #4, sure I agree the solution is right if you are at least Grand Champ, but otherwise I feel like it's just too hard mechanically to pull that play off and maybe you should just head back so the mate who grabbed boost can get into the play.
Anyways, I really like this format!
Should do more of these very interactive and educational
i really liked this video!! made me rethink some of my own plays and got me motivated to practice those harder of the wall shots!
