I have an 06 yz250 set up for woods it works pretty good a counter balancer and hydraulic clutch would make it better.

I love mine. but, mine is a 2016 YZ250X. the first year for the X. Its awesome. the motor is great, added flywheel weight, head, jetting, gnarly pipe and tubine, setup suspension(which is pretty great from factory).

6'3' and 220 lb and had a CR250 was never lacking power all I have to do is just blip the throttle and the back tire would light up never lacking power and the power was controllable, when I got it it had a 125 size tire on the back it was actually a little better when you would hit the throttle the back tire would just spin and you would go up anything but with the 250 size tire on it the front end would come up

I love the YZ250 so much, I own 3 of them. The 02, 05, and the 2014, I also have a 05 YZ144 all bikes are trail monsters. I just don’t need any euro bikes because as you’ve said they cost way too much, but if the bike is a few years old it’s harder to find parts and being from Europe you’ll have to wait for it if they even make the parts still.

@dahatchery haha nice I wouldn't mind having another yz250 but I'd like to try the x model. Just cause they're such great machines. 👍

@ yep, but your YZ can be converted into that very bike. All you need is to change first gear and I think 3rd gear. You’ll need to trim the right side engine case so the bigger 3rd gear will fit without rubbing. You could do it or have a shop do it. It wouldn’t cost that much. I own these bikes because I rebuild dirt bikes and own 6 of them. 04 CR500AF, and an 07 CR250AF the AFs were 04 CRF450 roller and an 07 CRF250 roller. The CR250 engine is a 96 cr. The 02-07 CR250 were the worst designed CRs that Honda ever built due to the electric powervalve which failed every now and then. If you wanted to buy a new servo motor for that powervalve hey no longer make them so in the US you can’t buy them. Folks I’ve called in Australia don’t want or can’t ship them to Hawaii where I live.

Have a x..have magura hydraulic clutch myself ..stoke with hondon heavy duty plate kit..best mod I ever did and my bike is pretty tricky..I also have the warp 9 rims which is also huge for stability and handling
