Sad to see St Helens declining so much. I grew up here and returned in the noughties before going to university as a mature student. One of the saddest sights was the now empty Tyrers department store. I remember as a child, my Mum going shopping there before taking us to lunch at the café upstairs, which had a hairdresser's salon next door
The town centre is nearly empty of shops because we have two retail parks. For some reason they didn't put either one in the town centre. It's a shame the council killed what was once a busy town
Had great times here in my very young years at the college. 6:03 is where Nexus used to be many years ago. A dump now unfortunately. The good days are over.
I am Mexican I play FIFA 22, I created a team in the Premier League and when searching for city names I found Saint Helens I liked the name and edited red and white uniform I hope one day to visit there..
The big problem with St Helens town and others they have people making decisions about the town who don't really care about the town, it's about time all councils have a select committee of 12, that's 6 councillors and 6 born and bred people from the town who actually care about it.
There’s some lovely places to live in this sad town, it’s just been run down by the councillors who don’t think of anything but spending money on the wrong things why build another hotel when they can’t fill the one we have already they need to lower all the rates on the empty shops and put some life back into this once busy town where all the shops were full and it was a great town there was no need to go shopping anywhere else, now it’s just a sad town no more industries to keep good none where there was no unemployment and we all had good homes and happy people now there’s only beggars where ever you look it’s heartbreaking what’s happened to this wonderful town as was 🤬

Lived here all my life, St.Helens born and bred. Used to be great town with loads more Victorian period buildings, as well as world famous Beechams.
