Thanks for the post. You should document the same route you took in this post today and then run them side by side to see how things have improved / declined in such a short space of time. I love Macclesfield but it is being driven into decline by the council with their excessive charges for facilities that should be free in order to attract people into the town centre to spend money and keep the retail businesses alive

I am sad to say I live in Accrington (not born here) and in parts it is a dump, but it used to be a great place to live UNTIL they knocked down the market which was famous and thriving and coach loads of people would come to visit the town but since building the `shopping centre` if you want to call it that the town as died It is happening all over the place..The former MP here received millions from boris johnson also millions from sunak, I want to know where the money as gone because the town as not benefitted from it, all there is is take aways all along blackburn road and barber shops, vaping shops etc, etc..I do not know if Accrington can even recover from this, If I was in charge I would knock down the whole of the arndale centre and rebuild the market, and shopkeepers would not get the massive rental charges that they do now and offer people incentives to open new buisnesses in the town.. BUT WHERE IS THE MONEY?

It’s a premier inn on winwick road mate not a Travelodge. A Town centre not a city centre, you did correct yourself on that one later on to be fair. The problem with Warrington is the parking that is why I never go there, I go to towns where it is free to park or which are blue badge friendly. It has never looked nice because the council have removed all of the local history trying to make it a modern town so that they could claim city status which they have failed to achieve.

Bacup is the birthplace of the late Johnny Clegg. He only spent 3 month living in this town as a newborn before his Grandpa took him and his mother Muriel back to Southern Rhodesia. Would be nice to put something up in this town to honour this man. I paid a visit in 2021. I met a few drug addicts who were stoked I came to visit this town in honour of Johnny Clegg.
