Thank you for this one. I'm a meat lover, but with prices the way they are, I'm barely eating it once a month. Always appreciate grain/bean/frozen veg options to amp up what my garden is producing. Here is my best budget tip that I suspect will be novel. You can get 8 oz of Great Value Smoked Sea Salt for $4.84. That's expensive for salt, but about half what you'd find elsewhere for smoked salt. When cooking in the air fryer, especially for meatless meals, it adds an amazing savory grilled flavor.

I had a 2 lb pkg of ground beef to cook. So I did it in 2 batches 1 lb at a time. The first lb, I followed your lead and put foil on the bottom. It was a pain to scoop the meat out and then have to deal with the greasy grate and the teeny pieces of meat that fell through, etc. So, the next batch I put the meat directly into the bottom of the pan and cooked it down there. Then used the grate by putting it over the cooked meat (as a fitted strainer), held it in place and poured the grease into my grease can and it was a lot less messy.
I am addicted to your videos. Thank you for sharing all of your recipes and secrets!

Just got my very first air fryer...the Cosori Dual Blaze. My first try was a large bag of Brussels Sprouts and Roasted potatoes. So easy and my grandson who only eats the crisped leaves of the sprouts actually ate some of the whole ones that got nice and crispy. WIN!!!

I recently found canned black beans with jalapeño by Ortega. All Mexican seasonings are included. I sliced Turkey Cheddar sausage and air fried until they where a bit toasty. Added the beans, lightly drained, and air fried until hot. Topped with cheese to melt. It came out delicious! I had found the case of beans on Amazon, about $1 a can, the sausage on sale for $3.99. This made 2 good sized meals for me.

I had the same problem with my tortilla's flying open during air fryer cooking; so I used your idea of placing a metal grate, or small metal pie pan on top of the food - works great! I love these air fryer recipes. You have some great ideas! Thanks for sharing.

You're definitely an amazing lady here with air fryer cooking Kathy! Love watching you and your sweet kids throughout your videos. We got an air fryer gifted to us last Christmas and have been using it for a few things. There's just the two of us, now, but I would have loved to have this appliance when I was cooking for my family. So great of you to spend your time sharing all you do and I thank you. I do find I have used the air fryer more than the instapot we got 2 years ago. ❤

Hi Cathy - thank you for teaching me how to use my air friers (yes, I own two Cosoris now)! I love your videos and cookbook! My money saver is my small, but mighty hand held FoodSaver sealer. I love the concept of the FoodSaver, but don’t always love the big machine (no room on my counter) and making my own bags. I found the little rechargeable hand held and buy the pre-made “zip lock” bags that go with it. The pre made bags are an investment, but I wash them well, air dry them and use them many times. The money I save on tossing out freezer burned food more than makes up for the cost of the bags. Thanks again! ❤️

I discovered something interesting with the Cosori 5.8 qt. I had to buy a new basket, because the handle broke away from the basket. I found out if that happens, save the handle! If you want to cook food without the basket, the handle comes in handy to still use the air fryer.

Make up your baked potato like you would regularly eat it (butter n sour cream S&P) and top with taco meat, cheese, dollop of sour cream and taco sauce (hot or mild, whatever) and it’s super yummy, and filling!!!

If we don’t have the dual blaze, on recipes where you take the grate out, would an aluminum pan in our regular air fryers have a similar effect?

Oh dear!!! So many great recipes. I'm hungry! Two questions: 1) when using the Pyrex baking dish, how in the world do you get it out of the air fryer without burning your fingers/hands? 2) I cook for one. If I don't have an appropriate sized rack to hold down parchment paper or tortillas, what can I use as weights? Can I use a couple nuts or bolts strategically placed? (I checked Amazon for "air fryer weights" but found nothing.) Enjoyed the video. Thank you, thank you!!!!!

@@empoweredcooks OMG, those plate grippers will fill the bill (as the saying goes). I tried the pot holders/towel/silicone mitts thing. There just isn't enough room... I fear burning fingers. Thank you and your viewer for that info. The nuts and bolts thing sounded weird to me after I posted it. I hope it didn't sound TOO stupid. Do you think it will be OK to place some strategically placed (clean) hardware (I'm thinking some nuts from the Lowe's hardware aisle) to keep my parchment liner from being sucked into the heating element. Had that happen last week. Fortunately I was in the kitchen and smelled the burning paper before it did any harm. Thank you for your time. Love your channel and your taste testers! God bless.

@@dianapardo6872 I use 1/4 to 1/2 the seasoning packet. Still get the flavor with much less salt. I save the rest of the packet for the next ramen noodles dish. Unopened packets I save for my homemade chicken soup.

I like the broth too. I don’t eat them daily, so I don’t worry too much about the salt for one meal.

To remove avocado pit..after cutting in half...place the half with the pit on the cutting board...gently whack the seed with the blade of the knife so it cuts in just a bit..hold the avocado as you slowly turn the knife sideways, twisting the pit free...voila! Oh..and yes you can still use that pit to grow 🪴 it 👍😉😁

Will you be doing a review on the Ninja Speedi or are you pretty much sticking to the Cosori - your favorite brand of air fryer ?

I just found your channel looking for a new air fryer and I am liking the cosori but I'm not sure which one. Would you recommend the blaze or the 5.8 smart 2 I think it's called

@@empoweredcooks thank you so much for replying. I actually found it last night and have decided to go with the blaze mostly on the ease of cleaning. I hated cleaning all those slots in my last one..lol.. hoping to learn how to use it via your channel so thank you

Thank you for the smaller serving recipes. I only cook for one and dividing recipes is not as easy as it sounds.

Could you remove the basket and cook the meatballs that way? So glad you are doing recipes from your cookbook. We do less meat and more quinoa and/or bean meals.
