I miss the 70’s, being a kid, my family home and my Mom and Dad..
You'll meet them again and will be even happier just be patient
@@kidsundance9021 We all do budd !! .. Your not the only one .. Dont worry
me too
Yes.... My mom, dad and grandmother, seeing your family a lot and just being a kid.
Me too my friend. Many a days I just want to go home and go to my room (my 10 yr old self room that is). Wouldn't it be great for just a day or two to go back and see your room, go to school, see your old pets, toys, friends, but back to my 51 yr old self. Where's Barbie when you need her?
This was when stars had class, grace, and talent.
🤦🏼
Well,dont watch!
YAWN, sure they did.
@@DippyHippie Hardly anyone watches the affirmative action version of the Oscars.
Bullshit. They were no more classy than they are today. And they every bit as criticized then as they are today. People then said the same thing about them versus the 60s and the 50s .
Every tired old twat thinks that their youth was best
Growing in the 70s and 80s, it was a family event to sit down and watch the Oscars. We loved it, and didn't care that it lasted 6 hours! We couldn't have enough.
Yes it was the same in our house growing up.
and now have no interest
Oh yes, could remember when my parents could not quite speak English, but we would sit in front of the teli. And enjoy the Oscar. My mom is now 95 years old and suffering from dementia. But I always play these shows for her.. my mom loves it!!
To be fair we didn’t have many options 😂
And growing up in the 60's and early 70's when the late Bob Hope was the permanent host, made the Oscars, much like the Miss America Pageant and the Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Telethon, anticipated family events. No cable, no internet, 3 major channels...yeah, life was so simple, but so uncomplicated and overall, more joyful...
Almost 50 years since this broadcast.
Unbelievable.
Life has certainly changed.
Yes! Now we live in a crybaby woke world with worthless so-called entertainers and entertainment!
Burt Reynolds was so underrated. He should have won that Academy Award for Deliverance!
So was Charles Bronson ... then watch The indian runner.
I still wish he had won for Boogie Nights. And he deserved a nomination for Starting Over.
Definitely!
Pam Grier … I have always ❤her. She rocked my world and she’s still doing it. What a woman!
Burt Reynolds was a national treasure
You mean, his wig was 'a national treasure'
@@manofiske3318 your mom
He was a pompous, arrogant prick.
You mean, he was a national Teaser man! lol
Pompous ass comes to mind.
These were the times when stars were stars. Enough said!!
Exactly what I just said to my wife.
Class, dignity and humor. I loved watching these shows with my parents as a kid in the 70's. Sometimes they would be on "late", like after 9 pm, but if I promised to get up for school in time I was allowed to stay up and watch them.
I was born in 1974, my favourite show was the Brady bunch , I am from Sydney, I don’t recall the oscars from when I was little but will always remember the show Dallas, I use to love the theme song
@@dirtydave2691 Boy did we live on the same block :-)
@@dirtydave2691 Unlike today, where an offended, no class person gets up, walks on the stage and slaps the host. Pitiful.
I miss the 70's being a kid, living with my parents and bro/sis. Visiting my grandma and cousins. Boy! I wish I could go back.👼
@michael miranti At lease we were kids back then when it was fun. These days being a kid is a nightmare.👹
@@TheEaglehaslanded733 With all due respect how would you know? You’re not a kid. This generation will be great to the kids of today.Of course it’s not for us.We’re adults.Let’s all be open minded✌️

Same here, the 70’s were the best for everything.
You can't help but love Liza Minnelli, and here she was at her professional peak. What a talented woman. I enjoyed this opening. Simple and classy and probably very reflective of what goes on in the head of the nominees. I wish the glory years of Liza would have lasted longer, as she is packed with talent.
Eva's Ivy very class simple yet elegant
yeah ... a stark contrast to 'queen Latifah' or something of that ilk ..... !!!
@@krishnan-resurrection714 🤦🏼
@@krishnan-resurrection714 Queen Latifah is a fucking legend and has more talent in her pinky toe than you could ever hope for.
talent ???? . .. such as .. ?
You see talent is what you needed to have back in those days. Plain and simple talent. And boy did Liza have it. Boy, could she sing and bring that unmistakable energy.
RIP Mr. Reynolds and thanks for all the awesome memories.
I enjoyed the nice six second clip of one of the true loves of his life, Dinah Shore, who was looking quite beautiful at 14:45.
The Charlton Heston joke was awesome. The Redford joke, the Nixon joke, etc. all great. Well done, Burt!
Wow! Pam Grier and Victoria Principal sharing the stage with Burt Reynolds. Harmonic convergence!
“Harmonic Convergence” was a kooky New Age event in 1987.
Imagine that would've been one heck of an orgy between those three. The fur flying everywhere!! Burt was a STALLION and the women were HOT! 😂😂
Burt was great....looking...sense of humor....talent!!
At 12:45. People forget Burt Reynolds was one of the most in demand actors at that time. He was averaging three films per year in the 1970s.
It was great being a kid in the 70’s. Things were so simple and real. No cell phone or computer devices. People had real conversations with each other in person or on a landline telephone where you actually heard someone’s voice instead of texting etc. It was pre cable television and everyone watched the 3 major networks and that was it. Motion Pictures were something you saw at the local movies theater only. Made it all more exciting and we appreciated every minute of it. Intimate details of everyone’s life wasn’t common, public knowledge. We only knew what we read in the magazines or on TV shows or in the newspaper It was better that way. Privacy was sacred!
This was incredibly well put 👍
@@jamieholmes4675 thank you! Happy to know you agree with me!
Remember when we had truly great movies? The Exorcist, The Godfather 1 and 2, Marathon Man, Jaws, A Bridge Too Far, The Deer Hunter, Apocalypse Now, Rocky, Dog Day Afternoon, Smokey And The Bandit. Just a few. What a time to grow up in.
@@hectormartinez9657 One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, The French Connection, Dirty Harry, Alien, Close Encounters Of The Third kind......the list of greats is endless 👌

Burt was so cool. I met him once at a FSU game he was drinking a Budweiser. Seemed like a real guy love beer and football. My buddy drove a Limo in those days "early 90's" Burt gave him a 100$ tip.
This is when Television was great and so were the actors.
Yes Troy they are actors. Stars is the worse word for what they all do. They ACT, which is why actors is correct, you get your Brownie Point. 😊

@@Chinaski1 Yes, Burt Reynolds too.
How could you forget PAUL McCARTNEY?!
You also forgot Dinah Shore!
Stars who defined the 70’s. Larger than life!
Rest in Peace sweet & handsome Burt Reynolds♥️
Liza Minnelli is a fine actress and a polished performer.
So similar to her mother Judy Garland.
The apple sure didn't fall far from the 'tree', Liza still is a great entertainer....
Yes, but the song she’s singing sucks.
Look at Burt Reynolds! In his prime here! God bless him, I was always a fan as a child in the 70's! I am now 52 and still admire the man! He has been through it all, he was a STUD! This was right before he blew up! 1974!...From 1976-81'....He was the Top Dog! I saw a wonderful interview with him from 2011, looking back on his life! The man had one of the fun lives' of all time! You can see he also has much regret when talking about Sally Field ..( he was 77 when he was on the Pierce Morgan show)..It was a great piece on Burt's life! Very touching if you are a fan of his! I was 11 in 74'.....man the years truly do go by so fast!
I remember Burt BACK in 1973,NOBODY could TOUCH him.
+Nicky Depaola: *_"It was a great piece on Burt's life"_*
To go along with the great piece on Burt's head, lol.

RIP Burt
Well said, Nicky. Burt Reynolds was my hero too. Always will be. The world is a dimmer place now with him no longer with us. I was ever so fortunate to have gotten the chance to meet him back in 2002 and he was the most wonderful, charming, warm and funny guy. God bless him and may he rest in peace.
remember how he shocked everyone doing the nude centerfold for Cosmo, wow, what a body!!
I love how Liza Minelli brought Broadway to the Oscars.
Pam Grier AND Victoria Principal !--Be still my heart
Two extremely hot looking ladies. It is hard to control oneself.
What's most impressive is that Walter Mirisch comes out and gives a speech. He's in his 50's here and already looking like an old guy. In 1974. It's nearly 2022, and he's still alive, 100 years old.
And sadly he passed away last week in 2023.

I can hear Judy in every note.
But Liza owns this and every songs she sings.
They still do🤷🏼♂️
I never realized how similar Liza Minnelli's voice was to her mother's, Judy Garland.
This was a little gem out of time. I miss the Oscars when it was like this.
Wow! What an amazing performance by Liza Minnelli! Doesn't surprise me, she was a natural...What with her mom being Judy Garland. However, Liza in 1974 is such an amazing talent!
I was an usher at the Los Angeles Music Center Academy Awards while a high school student. The memories are indelible.
*And `they´ say white girls can´t rap*
Burt Reynolds was hilarious.
I never new what the "Academy" would do besides providing the awards untill I saw this video. And I have to say. It does a very important contribution to the visual arts.
Don’t think they were ready for that type of snarky humor yet. Burt was ahead of his time! If they only knew what lay ahead
This makes me feel like a child again even though i wasn't born then. The retro years.
I know the feeling was 8 years old back then. Nostalgia it comforts you when the memories are remembered.
Pam Grier is lovely

This was one of the greatest moments of the Academy Awards.
Liza was amazing when she was younger and I had no idea Burt Reynolds was so good looking when he was younger.
He was a top sex symbol in the 70s
She was Judy Garland reborn carried on her mother's legacy and did a wonderful job with her high caliber body of work
She is not as talented as her Mother.
Saw her live five years ago.

A far better actress then singer.
She's so forced...

Liza Minnelli sings really well, I love the way she sings!!!
Morgane Lange She does sing very well just like a good singer would sing yes
Shes definetly a wonderful performer I dont think she had the strong pipes like her mother but shes good
I'm glad to see Linda Blair on here, She's very beautiful!
When Burt said to the audience, "It wasn't easy getting here in carpools," must have been the time when we had the gas "shortage" crisis.
This is my all time favorite musical moment from the Oscars.

Liza Minnelli was awesome!!
I attended the actual 1986 academy awards, (I was able to "sneak in"), but sat for only 15 minutes, as I was walking around 95% of the time. Saw many celebs, and even met Spielberg on stage after the show. I did appear on tv, behind whoopi and Michael J Fox. One of the best nights of my life. In 1987, I did walk the red carpet again with my 5-month son in a tuxedo; I appeared on ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT, interviewed by Australia crew. / The beginning of this 1974 ceremony, I met about 5 celebrities: Paul Newman, Joanne woodward, Raquel welch, burt Reynolds, Liza Minnelli, etc. I told a friend in 1979, on bleaches, at Oscars, I said "One day I will get inside there". who knew in 1986, I WOULD! In 1985, watched from bleaches.
Damn.....Liza got some pipes man.
Could they make this number any more about HER??
Sounds just like her mother when she belts one out
That crowd was too stiff for Burt. His humor was over their head.
