Here's our plan for two delightful days of food, art, and history in Cork City: chrisplusmelissa.com/cork-city-ireland-two-delightful-days-of-food-art-and-history/ It includes an item or two that didn't make the video's cut.
When are you going to move to Ireland permanently? I get the impression you love the place. From an Irish man living in the UK. If in Dublin again go to Dalkey. Lovely walk up dalkey hill and amazing views of wicklow and Dublin Bay. Dalkey is 25mins on the Dart from centre of Dublin.
I hope, when you guy fully settle down you come back to live full time in Cork. You seem to love the place and we would only benefit to have you guys as neighbours
It's so funny, when you were at the end of the shaky bridge, the jail is only a few mins up hill walk from there - I was surprised you didn't visit then but I've been to the jail a few times and I prefer the audio tour with the sound effects so it was probably a blessing in disguise.
Thank you very much for this video! It is very interesting and informative. We are planning to travel to Ireland in summer, so the information in your video will be very helpful! 😊 And I have subscribed to your channel as well!
Loved your video when were you visiting? I’m wondering how warm to pack for early October. You have on a heavy puffy coat and your partner just has on a hoodie. Thanks
"Feckers" is the absolutely correct response. When you come back to Ireland, check out the Carrick-a-reed rope bridge in the North. Also close to the Giants Causeway and Bushmills distillery. 😀
Hi guys. Just walk at a set pace across the Shaky Bridge and the closer to the centre you get the more you’ll notice the bridge move. 👍🏼. Up the Rebels.
I stayed at the Clayton in May. Near the UCC campus is O Dhonnabhain (O Donovan) Street and Bridge. Full Irish breakfast was GREAT, but I could pass on the Black and White Pudding. I also found an O Donovan off license (liquor store). The Clayton is not far from the Gaol. It was a short walk, uphill.
There is a book written by an English man called Mccarthy's bar based on the "law" that you should never pass a bar with your name over the door. I hope you took advantage of this 😊
MY GRANMOTHER WAS ELIZABETH BELL, FROM CO CORK . SHE CAME TO ELLIS ISLAND AND BECAME A TAILOR OF CLOTHING . SOME OF HER FIRST JOBS WERE TO MAKE SUITS FOR THE BANKER S WIVES IN NEW YORK...WE WERE ALWAYS SO HAPPY TO VISIT HER HOME, SO WE COULD EAT BEAUTIFUL IRISH FOOD!!!I MISS HER SO! SHE MARRIED MY "COW " LOVIN GRANDFATHER!❤
Hi folks, I love your reactions to my native land. I'm getting to see the places that I,to my shame, have not visited before. Although I have been everywhere in Ireland, Cork holds a special place in my heart. My name is Finbarr, the patron Saint of Cork, who founded the city of Cork. The name is the English language version of the Irish name Fionnbarra, Fionn meaning fair or blonde and barr meaning top or head therefore the fair headed.
The car in this video we rented a 2021 RAV4 from Tadg Riordan Tallaght in Dublin for the full three months of our stay. It's a Toyota Dealership but they do shorter rentals. For more info and 6 more tips: chrisplusmelissa.com/7-tips-to-plan-your-best-ever-trip-to-ireland/ On a different trip we used Enterprise and were quite happy, but I believe the Enterprise one was a stick shift.
We are not parking experts in Cork but I can say the first time we tried to go to the English Market, there was a line into the parking garage that we wanted to go to. It was a bit overwhelming (being in a bigger Irish city, driving on the other side and being new to the city was a lot to handle) We actually decided to try on another day (during the week) and went early and it wasn't so bad parking in one of the ramps near the market. Not sure if that helps, but I get a feeling that if driving in a bigger city, in Europe, it's good to plan your parking before you get there.
Are you flying in from the states? 3.5 days isn't much, and if you're flying in to Dublin, we'd recommend going to Kilkenny. It's less than 2 hours away and we loved it. But you can't go wrong with most any place we've done a video on. In our humble opinions. :)
As I live in Cork, I can't get over some things here: What time have you been in Fitzgerald and UCC that you hadn't meet anybody? It is Cork, it is always crowded. Rain. It is Ireland. It rains here, that's it. Why did you take the car to the Gaol? It does not make sense at all, not in this bad traffic. Aren't you a bit scared of the Gaol guards figures? These haunt me after a few years still...
Kudos on editing around the dereliction. I'm from the place and I wish it well from the bottom of my heart but it's been allowed to become a dump by regressive and corrupt government policy.
Did you see any Corkonians whilst here as it is now predominantly foreigners here which has ruined our City. Not one bit like it used to be before the borders were thrown open by our traitors in Government. The character of the city was amazing when Cork people were in the majority. Anyhow, anyone planning to come here, enjoy the new Cork 2023 UN style.

Cork town is where we store the hopeless cases. "It's de real capital beeeh" they grunt as they waddle round the town they have never left. The county is a different matter some of the best people in the world.

The English Market has an area UPSTAIRs where you can go and eat. They have some good little restaurants. Its convenient.

Finbarr is a super cool name. :) Thank you for sharing that with us.
It's great movie. Thanks from Ukraine.
Fantastic video absolutely loved it. Shaun O’Brien.
Glad you enjoyed it
Any tip on car rentals? Your seemed like a spacious one compared to the adventure of other UA-camrs. Thanks !

Cork was amazing. And of course the tacos. Shake the bridge more too bad they didn't let you catch up to the guided tour
Spike island is also worth a visit
When are you coming to sligo 😢
Hopefully some day. :)
Going to Ireland in another week, wondering about parking in Cork, seeing stuff about parking discs.....did you guys have any issues parking in Cork?
We are not parking experts in Cork but I can say the first time we tried to go to the English Market, there was a line into the parking garage that we wanted to go to. What destinations do you recommend for a 3 -1/2 day visit to Ireland?

Shakey Bridge has been renovated twice since the '80s and they took most of the 'shakiness' out of it :( Used to swing much more and was far noisier.
So they took some of the fun away?
Cork, may not be the capital city, but is the biggest county..
As I live in Cork, I can't get over some things here:

I often visit Fitzgerald park around 9.30am and there may not be one other person in there.
"Feckers!"I love it. That alone should entitle Melissa to an Irish passport, if she were so inclined.
She would take one for sure... you don't happen to have that power do you?! :D
@@chrisplusmelissa Unfortunately, I don't have that power. I'm just an average fecker.

Third largest city in all of Ireland, Belfast is much bigger. Cork is second largest in the Republic.
Acardia but Belfast has a lot of unions not a very happy lot
Was way shackyer

You would find a few Corkonians in that great metropolis Dublin....Minister of Finance, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Prime Minister etc
