Hey Paul, I have used my points many times on Disney cruises including twice on Disney Wish in 2022. I have sailed solo a few times and enjoyed it so much. Every time I think of selling my okw 2042 I find I want to sail again. I feel I have really enjoyed my dvc and have gotten my value out of it since 1993.
We're no longer Disney World fans because of all the recent changes but we do enjoy the cruises and we've used our points for cruises for the past few years
Thanks for a great content and fixable in our membership 👍😊❤️. I personally like to thank y'all for filling in over the holidays, you all did a great job.👍😊 Y'all kept us informed and our Disney fix😄 Thanks for sharing 🤗
Completely new here as DVC member First of all, love your show Paul and Amy! With these swap program, am I surrendering my DVC points or am I just using my points like any DVC resort?
We had a great time on our Alaska cruise. We went on the Princess Sapphire Cruise ship. The ship was only five years old at the time. We went the first week of August. The weather was fantastic at the time. You will absolutely love that cruise.
I did not see a video on this topic but can you include in a up coming video, or a video by itself, on the rules of moving, your points to a second contract that you own?
Amy/Paul- great content. I did not browse the comments but why such a different or savings in cost going thru the swap vs. direct? Is it just the cost or return Disney gives you on points and the current return on renting points?
One trick to using your DVC points for Disney cruises is to book longer repositioning cruises. The points per night are usually less than standard cruises.
What are the tax consequences of selling your points? Do you send a 1099 to the member? If so, they’ll have to pay taxes on the amount they receive for their points. In our case, the taxes would be about 28%.
Is there a swapportunity to goto Disneyland? It is really hard to get a room at Grand Cal, but there are lots of hotels within walking distance of Disneyland and I would guess most Disney World DVC owners don't have a Magic Key so would need to buy Disneyland tickets and probably airfare too.
Hi Paul, Amy, Marissa! Great show and content. I do have a couple questions regarding swapping points for DCL. Are you still associated with Dreams Unlimited Travel? And would we receive onboard ship credits and the welcome basket booking a swaportunity with you? I enjoy your content. Thank you.
Hey Larry - You can still rent out your points and then take the cash and book with Dreams Unlimited Travel if you would like! The program discussed in this show is a little different and all done through DVC Rental Store.
@@paulkrieger Thanks Paul. We are 15 yr DVC owners and are looking to take our very first DCL cruise. We definitely need some hand holding and guidance. With DVC rental swap do we get the same level of guidance as having a travel agent or is your swap program more for the seasoned cruiser? Do I need to have the details of the cruise already worked out on my end to use the swap program? Or does someone at DVC rental walk us through and book the various ships/room types/price tiers/dining reservations/ excursions, etc?
@@larryg3038 Our Swap Advisors at DVC Rental Store would be happy to review options with you. The services provided are similar to those of a travel agent and they will be with you throughout the entire process. ☺
Love all of these ideas - would be very interested in a show that goes more into the minutiae. Like, what if my points don’t rent and we’ve booked my cruise/Universal trip/whatever…..do I get my points back because I had to pay cash for everything? And, do pre-booked trips “sell” better than just a random group of points? Do you recommend trying to do this at the beginning of your Use Year so you have a better chance of using your points with DVC if they don’t “sell” and you’ve decided you don’t want to pay the cash for whatever was booked? Perhaps I’d be better off just calling you Paul 😂
I’m on my 7th Disney cruise we have taken and I’m a DVC owner. I don’t recommend using points its to much money in points you are using even if you swap. Pay cash it’s cheaper. Sorry Paul love you guys
Several Disney cruises we went on sold out on day 1 or 2 before the cruise was released for sale to the general public, so using your points directly is the only option in that case.
Exchanging points for a Disney cruise, is a VERY bad value. You will get the leftover cabin within the category. I did this in March and would never do this again. I bet I could’ve exchanged the points for cash via a DVC rental, and picked a better cabin with cash for about half the cost.
I think its important to put into context the difference between Universal and a DVC property. Universal's properties are deluxe hotels and not what DVC Members are accustomed to in terms of 1-Bedroom, 2-Bedroom, etc. Thus, if you want anything higher than a standard two-queen room this is going to essentially be a suite or club-level accommodation that comes at a premium price. In most situations though, you can get 3-4 nights in a Deluxe Accomodation in a two-queen room that includes FREE Express Pass, PLUS Universal park tickets for between 150-250 points for a family of 4. That's a steal when you consider everything you are getting for that price.
Not to be argumentative, but the same people that criticize Disney for creating second class citizens by giving deluxe Disney hotel guests late night extra hours , then tout the benefit of staying at universal deluxe hotels to get free express passes🤔
The best show with the best people. Thanks for the content. Always look forward to seeing you guys.
One of the best episodes ever!! Fantastic information. Thank you!!
Great show! I knew of the options but hearing it explained, makes me get excited about the possibilities.
This was very informative, thank you guys. I always enjoy listening to you and Amy. You definitely gave me food for thought!

Just saw this video today. Great content. We did Disney Wish last August. We’re doing a RCCL to Alaska out of Seattle this year too! 7/3 ??

Can you book Concierge level thru DVC Store on DCL?

love these options, will definitely look in the future for my points!
I'm doing an Alaskan cruise in 2024 for my 60th birthday (NCL). I now own 3 Helly Hansen coats in different weights in anticipation 😅
Shoutout to Damien Ganem! He's the best!!
Can you do a combination of points and cash at the Rental store?
New topic for you to cover; What happens when you cancel a reservation and your points go into “Holding “?
Use em or lose em

Repositioning cruise?
Can you use resale points for the swaps?
Yes, You sure can!

Swaps are deemed an equal exchange by the IRS. You would not receive a 1099 for points rented through the Point Swap Program.
@@paulkrieger I guess I need to call you and ask about the Swap Program.

Can you swap points that were not bought directly from Disney ?
Certainly! - Direct or Resale Members can take advantage of the Swap program which is a huge benefit for resale owners!

We’ve used our DVC points to go on 19 Disney cruises since 2002.
Several Disney cruises we went on sold out on day 1 or 2 before the cruise was released for sale to the general public, so using your points directly is the only option in that case.
Looking forward to this
Are these points per person or is that per room?
Per room. We recently used 147 for 3 of us in a Ocean view Verandah. I loved it!!
For a 4 night Baja Cruise
I would have to twist my husband's arm to do a Disney cruise (no casinos), but maybe someday?!? 🎰🎲🚢
time stamps?
Sell the points. Pay cash for the cruise

I had them quote a universal trip using DVC points and it was a total rip off. Just not worth it at all.

I loved the Express Pass at US and do not criticize them or Disney for their Deluxe resort perks! But yes, there will always be haters!
pass on cruising... no thanks.
