After all the "can a passenger land a plane?" discussions, I think the better question is "could a passenger get the plane to the proper gate at JFK?"
Delta passenger 44, you're my favorite passenger!
could a pilot get the plane to the proper gate at JFK*
Easier for an untrained passenger to land a plane than to taxi to the gate
good thing you'd never have to get the plane to a gate as a passenger. If you as an untrained passenger land the plane then they'll have you park it on the runway and tow the plane elsewhere.
With JFK if you don’t Know the layout...GOOD LUCK. If you’re an aero nerd you’ve memorized the layout of JFK, LHR. LAX, AND AMS. You’d also be the only one to volunteer to land it if it was that bad of a scenario,
The background laughter when Alitalia tells Kennedy Steve to say again is pure gold
I don’t understand the joke... Whats so funny
H Josh there’s no real joke. Alitalia was unreadable, so KS said “say again,” and Alitalia said “say again.” Its like if you’re with a friend and they say something, and you say what, then they say what, and you’re both stuck saying what.
@@effortlessawareness8778 Steve told the Alitalia to say again and the Alitalia pretty much went "no u", that's what the laughter was all about
It starts from 4:35 if anyone wonders
missed that the first time I listened.. x3 got me laughing too.
You ever spend hours listening to some random guy directing plane traffic.
And just wonder... How did I get here?
Hi Kirothe, For me the attraction is the pleasure that comes from observing someone doing something they are very good at; sort of like watching a Rafael Nadal or Roger Federer play tennis.
Kennedy Steve is respectable entertainment. I wish I’d known about him sooner.
@@animula6908 - Exactly. My dad was a pilot, but i've never worked in the industry, and i'm addicted to Steve. Precision and humor....what's not to like?
Letting the planes go by, let the tugman push me 'round, into the blue again, after the pilot's gone... (at least one person got your reference there :)
Forwards, I hope? 😅
‘ Delta208, if you would be kind enough to turn the transponder to the ON position’
CLASSIC! Lol
The sarcasm and irony is exceptional
Follow the top 1% the people who have their own airplanes!
Hahahaha I think the pilot was too busy to appreciate that gag.
+MegaMech I fail to get that gag >_
penwhale I think he meant that the airliner he was talking to was a cheap company that didn't actually own the airplane. Where as the airplanes ahead of him were big name brands that owned the jets. I'm assuming something along those lines. He was kinda referencing the 1% richest people in the world but replacing rich people with rich airline companies.
+MegaMech I think he actually meant a private jet, owned by a person. As far as I've listened to Kennedy Steve, he only uses "TOP 1%" for the richest people, so in private jets, like the here mentioned (I think) Hawker.
***** Oh, yea. I didn't think of private jets.
@@MegaMech nah when he refers to the 1% hes usually discussing stuff like Learjets or Citations, private jets basically.
There are recordings of a few other ATCs who engage in light banter, but none of them are at frantically busy JFK. Steve speaks rapidly but very clearly, and he doesn't waste words. His zingers are brief and to the point. He is professional yet warm, and his courtesy comes naturally, and it promotes courtesy in return.
His levity must help defuse an otherwise stressful situation. I've never been into JFK (as a passenger) but I can only imagine the tangle of worms that JFK is.
He should be teaching in the FAA
@chillylizerd unfortunately for us, he's off enjoying the rest of his life in retirement.
Boston John was notorious for flirting with the female pilots. When Steve was asked if he ever got in trouble for his banter, he said as long as he kept it clean and the planes were moving, they were good with it.
"Well be ready in about 30 seconds" OK, Let me know when you're really ready!" LMAO
This poor guy.......constantly battling the Ramp agents lmfao
I give mad creds to ground controllers like Steve here... It's like playing 3D chess blindfolded while solving math equations written in binary code.
"Uh, we don't see a Foxtrot off of Bravo"
"Yeah, you do."
"Uh, yeah we'll find it"
I just laughed out loud at that one.
@@merianharper9551 Me too. And repeated them, just because!
"Yeah you do!". Classic Kennedy Steve
I cried tears of laughter when Delta407 asked "...where do you want us to wait it out?" and KS responded "Atlanta!". :D
Love how he's doing a great job and is having fun in the same time.
I'm watching from Germany, thanks for your videos!
+endlessxjourney Vielen Dank für das Ansehen meines Videos! :)
+endlessxjourney I felt the absolute same, I almost spilt my coffee, that was so on the spot. Greetings from a fellow German ;)
gentlemen I'm part german and proud of it. Guten Morgen
@@givmi_more_w9251 I'm three-quarters German, can I express my pride as well? Guten tag!
He often says "Atlanta."
I've printed out an 8.5 x 11" sheet with Kennedy's taxiways and runways. OMG, I have no concept how Steve does this all. ATC controllers are one of the most underrated, underappreciated workers ever! Next time I'm flying, I'll make sure to say a special thank you to these guys.
It might be fun to laminate the sheet and make some little airplanes with different logos and sizes and scoot them around. Nah, I would get lost and that sounds too much like work :-D
So underappreciated that Reagan fired them all.
I would never be able to keep left/right sorted out correctly.
Well, they are usually not moving aircrafts on the whole airport, just sections. At least that's how it's done in Germany
@@Tmanaz480 Hey, don't feel bad. My drill instructor used to threaten to make carry a small rock in my left hand so I could remember which way to go when she called out a command. I'm well over 60 now, and I still have trouble keeping it straight!
Only thing I want it the map of airport with animations.
Yh XD
His art deserves it honestly
(Jetblue reports leaving ramp) - "Splendid news! Where are we starting this exciting mission from??"
Love this guy!!
Seriously. I spit out my coffee when he said that. You could hear the Jetblue pilot is young and trying to sound cool and I thought "maybe Steve will have something to say." Nothing could have prepared me for "this exciting mission." I'm crying.
He clearly deals with Steve a lot XD
Considering the size of JB's terminal at JFK, i believe it.
My gosh, Kennedy Steve has the patience of a saint! That left me tense.
That is fir sure Kennedy is a great 👍 man doing his job🙏🏻
He talks loud and clearly, so refreshing. I don't know how there aren't more accidents when I listen to some Pilots/ATC mumble or lose all effort to finish their sentence.
After so many years of Kennedy Steve, we'll always know that the JFK tower is at 123.9😃😂😄
Or sometimes 119.1
Holy smokes. This guy is a machine!
Austin, TX.
+KrazyKerahcaz Games He IS good. But. :) There is quite a bit of editing out of silence here. H89SA can correct me, but from what I've heard from Steve before, I am guessing this is 30-40-50 minutes of ATC edited into 10
Ah, that's a good point cottagechskitty. Either way, it just sounds really busy with how well edited this is.
+cottagechskitty Actually, in this video I only cut some position reports, etc, so I had to split it in 2 parts, it was a real rush hour. :)
I miss my days and nights working KJFK tower back in the 70's. I'm really sorry that I didn't have the chance to work with Steve.
+Joe Champley I guess it was fun to work back then. :)
It'd be interesting to build a simulation showing exactly how the planes are moving about on the ground during all this, to visually see the kind of chaos he's working with and how he goes about turning chaos into sense.
Keep in mind these videos have silences edited out
Some of these videos, yes. But some are also real time in rush hour recorded.
This man is an absolute LEGEND! There will NEVER be anyone like him again. Also, did anyone notice he was NICE to the tug? That's what happens when a tug has their shhh together.
That British airways pilot has a really relaxing voice. Would love to have been on her flight!
So easy to listen to. I'd do whatever she asked!
Ah yes. Speedbird40F @01:40
I was expecting to see a comment about her crystal clear cut glass diction. 😄
I picture Steve a very animated man, never seated, speaking with his hands. A true master, under control, and you can tell he's worked it all out 10 steps in advance in his head.
I always laugh when I listen to these and hear JetBlue Tug 2 show up
And the video No. 100 is here! :) I've never thought I'll upload 100 videos, but here it is. :)
Thank you for your support, I really appreciate it. Analytics shows that only people in North Korea never watched my videos. :D
Post down in comments where are you watching from? :)
+H89SA Huntington Long Island!
The Netherlands!!
The Netherlands!!!
From the Netherlands! Love these videos!
Germany :)
They always hold short of Juliet🙋♀️...the frustration 😬😬🤣🤣
4:41 Did u not hear the hardcore laughing in the background?>??
4:45 so much stress, but still able to have a laugh :D I like it. There should be more controller like Kennedy Steve.
"We don't see a Foxtrot on Bravo"
"Yeah you do"
Well, that was easy.
Love that Brit female accent on the Speedbird.
I think the ability to speak with the accent is a hiring requirement at British Airways :)
@@mrz80 DEAD lol
As I've said before, they know that Steve is the best :) So he often takes over during ridiculous rushes like this. I don't remember Steve explaining top 1% before.
I've never heard a pilot ask for the explanation either !
It does seem like that, I wonder if there were situations where he was on an off period and they'd bring him on if it got too busy, but then again peak periods are pretty predictable, so he was probably rostered for them.
@@MrJaiimez yeah, it was called 9/11. I was working at sky harbor as a gate agent ( the person calling out which rows can board). When they called a ground stop for the entire country I was horrified but I can't even imagine what the ATC, the airline towers, the pilots and Ramp crews had to deal with. I was inside dealing with what to do with unaccompanied minors. Yes people could pay a fee and the flight attendants would make sure the kids were escorted from plane to plane if they were making a connection or waiting till each parent claimed their kid. There were kids going HOME to NY that day. It wasn't gonna happen. And EVERYONE was freaking out.
My favorite shtick= "which way should I face?" And "Where should I wait?" Never gets old!
Kennedy Steve know you are retired now but you are the bomb dude. Love hearing you man.
4:31 "GND: I...I can only tell you what he told me." haha that was epic..thanks for these videos H89SA!!
+Hector Pasapera Thank you for watching! :)
I bet these air traffic controllers have really well-developed brains, just like the London cab drivers who have to remember the layout of their huge city.
we'll yea but instead of driving he has a map of the airport in front of him with all the aircraft moving on it. He's also 400 feet above everyone else so he can see them if their transponders aren't on and did probably 6 or 7 years at another busy airport before getting this gig. These guys are the best of the best
Hold short of everybody else.. LOVE IT!!!
Not only is Kennedy Steve incredibly friendly and personable, but I can also understand his radio transmissions unlike how I struggle with many other controllers.
I could listen to this all the time. Kennedy Steve has nerves of steel.
Yeah I want this guy working EVERY high-stress situation at every airport in the World. A clone machine. We need a clone machine.
They have been cloning humans since the mid 1930's.
The Top 1% - I LOVE IT!
Kennedy Steve FTW!
When talking to Kennedy ground you never wanted to hear that dreaded word directed at you, SPLENDID!
Follow the Top 1% ahahahah !love that! Greetings from Italy
Since listening to Steve ,now when I’m sat on an aeroplane I will think of all the craziness the cockpit can hear 😂. To Steve and ALL ATC thank you for keeping us safe.
Apparently the pilot who asked about what the '"1%" means, hadn't been at JFK with Steve on the Ground shift before :)
So many lives depend on them doing this right every second....kudos to these guys....can't even start to imagine the sense of responsibility during these times.
Los Angeles, CA in memory of my grandfather, who flew with the US Navy and later delivered mail to the territory of Alaska :)
follow the TOP 1 percent hahahahah nice
In my opinion the ground controller has the toughest job because the aircraft are close together and can only maneuver on taxiways runways etc. Tower can space out aircraft and at different altitudes.
Kennedy Steve is an absolute magician. Love your channel, thank you.
Steve SAY AGAIN then AZA answered SAY AGAIN YOUR MESSAGE IM DEAD
It’s funny looking back to when Steve was actually working I looked forward to listening to him every night. My family thought I was out of my mind! He became my addiction!
Check out my latest videos. I'll post more Kennedy Steve videos.
Amazing how they can choreograph and successfully orchestrate all of this activity clearly and concisely.
When I was young our scout troop went to the Columbus, Ohio (CMH- Now John Glenn International) and Richenbacker towers several times. Watching and listening to the controllers handle the volume at these smaller facilities was incredible. With the baggage tugs and carts, food, fuel, maint. vehicles and the fuel trucks all migrating around --- very special skill set. Kennedy Steve was a true artist.
Took me a minute to get the Top 1% bit... LOL. I imagine the pilot(s) of the private jet heard that dig?
Steve is a legendary ground controller. Nothing but professional. My hats off to you sir.
His name is Stephan Abraham and he worked on Wall Street before he did the ATC thing.
Imagine to SEE all this playing out on the map!
Such an exquisite dance!!
Sir you make my day listening wonderful. Thank you for your humor and Intelligence. God Bless you and your Family.
4:45 they really having fun! even steve can't hold his laugh!
Damn, Steve is just awsome.
I really wish I could meet this guy. he could probably do this in his sleep. probably has. lol
I don't think anyone else noticed but he said "push back approve-ed" to Speedbird 40F. Kinda funny ;)
HollisterLoBoiz, I heard it too, and the pilot really stressed *approved* in her read back. Such fun!
@@XalphYT Steve goes Shakespearean!
Oh my God. I didn't. I had to go back and find it. 1:40. Hilarious.
Just discovering this channel. Amazing how Kennedy Steve does his job. Very impressive. Whatever they pay him, it’s not enough.😊
Steve is retired!
Pilot: this job is so tough
Ground: ....seriously?
Kennedy Steve: hold my beer and watch this
So this is what happens when we're stuck on the ground lol. Too funny
You just know that hurt Steve to have to explain the “top 1%” comment.
“We don’t see a foxtrot on the bravo”
“Yeah you do”
“Ok we’ll find it”
😂😂😂😂
"only be should" I think ramp managed to break him afterall...
Greetings from EGPF (Glasgow - Scotland)
I NEVER let a new upload pass me by. Great work!
+Chris Addison Thank you very much! :)
I just imagined a fence going around the terminal and AZA61 just swings it open for the next plane lmao
Steve: LINDBERGH6212?
LINDBERGH6212: yes, on Alpha
Steve: Wanna bet?😂😂😂
"Yeah you do!" hahah
+Andrew Hoyler Somehow I knew he's gonna answer like that. :D
We don’t see a foxtrot off of Bravo
Ya you do
Ok we’ll find it
"The top1%" ...I am dying...
I think I've heard Kennedy Steve say this but it's true. "You can't make this stuff up!" Thanks for the post.
+jbmbanter Thank you for watching!
Thank you very much indeed for all the work you do. From Morocco.
+Boutazzout Samir Thank you! :)
Watching it from New Jersy, United States. plus Saipan while i was diving back there! Really nice video and awesome work, thank u for doing this.

+Tom Morley Thank you very much! :)
Looking forward to part 2 👍🏾🛩
It's already uploaded. :)
Few minutes in, and I already cracked up; nice going...
Greetings from ETNL/RLG Rostock-Laage Airport in Northern Germany ;-)
The next ones would be Berlin Tegel EDDT/TXL and Hamburg EDDH/HAM around 2h from here.
Loved the video, thanks for posting!
+Frobbeline Thank you for watching!
Kennedy Steve is THEEE MASTER!! He's almost robotic!!
JFK used to be really busy before pandemic and it Will be after the crysis. Ive been there as a pilot several times, Airport is not enough to handle all the traffic. There are many runways to land but few slots to park 😀 this guy is doing a great job.
He’s retired!
1 24 21 Hey H89SA, Stephen is the BEST! Glad he's doing what he does. Thanks for posting. Stay safe, keep calm, & be well everyonel. v
KENNEDY STEVE IS A LEGEND. 💯
Northeast Pennsylvania here. Thanks so much for the uploads!
+Monica j Thank you for watching!
This guy is amazing..
Congratulations on 100. Another great one. Please keep them coming I really enjoy them.
+AD77 I will. Thank you!
Does Kennedy Mike know he's famous on UA-cam? ATC legend!
Listening from EDDS/STR Stuttgart, Germany.✈️
Congrats on 100 great vids, love em all‼️👍🏽. Watching from my house boat on the Sacramento River⚓️⛴
You are 100+ videos away from my last video. 😁
SPLENDID!!! LOL
Kennedy Steve is legit, The "CLUTCH"
#1#1#1#1
I would've been great if we would have a map of JFK so we could actually follow what they are talking about
Great stuff, thanks for sharing. From ESSA/ARN :)
awww jetblue 553 doesnt get top 1%
That's okay, neither did I
This guy was the best!! lol
Living room doing the fox trot, thanks for the post.
His disappointment is audible when JetBlue doesn't get his joke at 9:13 :D
Delta208 calling back to say they were "fully ready" killed me. 🤣
“Yea, you do”
