I had the Pixel 3a for a year and a half then I got the Pixel 4a because it was even cheaper than the Pixel 3a and I was very impressed with the Pixel 3a it never missed a beat or slowed down. I Pre Ordered the Pixel 4a 5G because I want a 5G phone to keep up with the time's without putting out too much money plus I wanna keep the headphone jack too.
Perhaps I am wrong, but it's more common for headphone jacks on cheaper phone because they lack the waterproof/dust ratings of higher end phones. Apparently its more expensive to waterproof an earphone jack, plus it takes more room needed for waterproofing materials. Also companies like Apple rather use their propriety tech to make more money of licensing.
I got the pixel 4a I had to wait a week which isn't that much but it was worth the wait. It usually lasts me 12 hours, battery time depends on your usage. I haven't had any problems with the phone getting hot at all.
Got pixel 5 and love it battery life is on another level 8hrs sot consistently and superb camera still the best on any smartphone today imo you cannot notice it's got the lesser Snapdragon in best pixel to date by far
I still dont understand this "bad battery life" on the 4 XL. I have the 128gb Google Pixel 4XL with android 11 and the battery life is pretty nice! Granted its new to me. I recently turned it on and started using it brand new and the battery life is awesome. So far.
I’d go for the 4 xl...bigger better screen..QHD.better chip..snapdragon 855, google neural chip, no big punch hole, good used versions cheaper. Better build, same camera hardware/software. 5g useless for most at the moment. Decent battery life for me around 6 hours sot.always on display on, dark mode on, motion sense off, 90hz forced on all the time. Perfect.
I bought a Razer Phone 1, for 130 euro in New state. 120hz 90hz 60hz ultra motion display Snapdragon 835 from 2017 still running most games flawlessly. 4000mah battery Front facing speakers Its Huge !!!!! Only side effect but great for gaming. Second hands high end phones is where people should look at. Maby security updates are not the best anymore, but there is always ways to fix that. Nokia 9 Pureview is cheap to find to and had manny updates so far.
All these videos on the pixel 4a say there's only a black version and it's boring... Well as of November, there's a barely blue version that's beautiful... Just saying!
I just got my Pixel 5 Wednesday and the fabric case yesterday and I can honestly say this is so far the best Pixel phone I've experienced (I've had 1&3XL). Looks so slick and everything feels buttery smooth. Kinda sad it's smaller than the 4A 5g... Weird right? But It just feels so right especially with making use of the full 6 inch screen. And also Verizon's trade in deal made it even sweeter! 😉 Oh yeah if anyone is curious the battery life is amazing compared to my 3XL that needed charging quite a bit. Smart choice on the CPU Google! 👍
Google said they didn't make a lot of the Pixel 5. On the Google Store, it's sold out. Google store in Canada. Looks like the US is still got it in stock for preorder. Edit: Never mind. The original preorder sold out quick. Appears the second preorders for December is a go.
I weighed my options and I chose the 4a number one because of the price but also time it is mainstream I'll be ready for anyway.and the ultra wide camera thing which is the only standout feature that I see cuz I don't care about wireless charging I have phones with wide-angle cameras and I realized I never use that feature. So yeah I love my little 4a....it's nice to have a phone that's not huge... good vid, peace.
got myself the 5, so far, super satisfied a bit of an info here the 4a5g for 499$ has different 5g network(?) than the 5 for the same 5g network as the pixel 5, it costs 599$ which brings the price difference to only 100$ from the pixel 5

A refurbished pixel 4XL is also very recommendable! It's faster than all the new pixels, 1440p90 screen. Squeezable, soli, telephoto lens and the battery (of the XL) is pretty good. You can find refurbished 128GB ones for about $500 bucks on ebay which is worth considering. Oh and the pixel 5 doesn't have any special hardware, meaning that all software features (like portrait light, stabilization etc) can run on the 4 easily. Downsides are no 5g, only 2 years worth of updates left, battery, no wide angle, face unlock (though I'm less annoyed by it by actually using it)
@Tech UniverseTV no not really into cameras. I was looking for a lower priced flagship to take some pictures some decent or nice pics but which would u prefer S20 fe or Pixel 5? For value and photography?
... Why do none of these tech review sites mention that the pixel 5 is priced higher in the US than it is overseas because of its forced addition of mmWave due to verizon...? Its kinda a big deal, as unless you're using verizon, you most likely won't be using hardware they're making you pay for.
Agree 💯! We're stuck paying for a service that won't be available for most Pixel 5g owners, unless they're Verizon customers. Doesn't make sense, they should've offered the phone unlocked @ $599. They're just looking to profit off a premium service most won't even be able to use. That's low imo
Tempted to get one because google pixels are the only phones that will allow you to keep high quality photos in google photos for free starting next summer .
Pretty easy. 4a 5G. Its basically a Pixel 5 for $200 cheaper, with a 60hz screen instead of a 90hz one and 2GB less RAM. The tiiiiiny bit larger battery/wireless charging aren't game changing features.

Hey! Does pixel 4a5g feel much bigger than regular 4a?? I want to buy a compact phone, but as far as I understand pixel 4a5g has much better audio speakers and also wide angle camera which is really nice to have.
That's easy. Google Pixel 4 XL. Bigger screen with more PPI, much better speakers, better processor, Telephoto, Neural Core, face unlock/Project Soli, squeeze for assistance.
Pixel 4XL is still the latest true flagship from Google. 855 will hold up well even in a couple of years. Haptics, sound, and screen is better than the 5, also camera because of the Neural core except for the ultrawide. Battery has gotten better with updates. So it's clear :)
One thing about the pixel 4a 5g is the screen isn't as bright as the pixel 5. I have seen reviews with both phones side by side and the pixel 4a 5g is clearly not as bright. It also has a slightly bigger screen than the pixel 5. I have the pixel 5 right now and it has been almost a week since I first got it. I switched from the pixel 2xl. I am very happy with the Pixel 5 in all aspects of how the phone has worked. In regards to the 90hz versus the 120hz screen... Based on an article in PC Magazine using neurological research published in 2017 - the average person will not be able to tell the difference between 90hz or 120hz screens. If you are (1) an avid gamer and actively train your brain to process information from a high FPS screen or (2) a fighter pilot then and only then will you be actually able to tell the difference between 90hz and 120hz screens. So, 120hz screens are just hype and use more power unless you have above average visual processing skills. I would rather have longer battery life. I have better things to worry about than stressing out over a few nanoseconds of delay because I 'only' have a 90hz screen. I never knew my 60hz screen on my Pixel 2xl such a 'horrible' experience until the spec wars of screen refresh rate started...
@@boban61 I have not noticed a lower pixel density in my use. I do need to compare the screen brightness for my Pixel 2xl and pixel 5 side by side at max brightness. I will tell that I love the size of the pixel 5. It reminds me of the time before phablets!
Before you switched to 5 did you notice animations stutter on 2XL? Not always but it would drop some frames here and there. Especially when using gestures while multitasking I guess
@@boban61 every android phone I've had I have always activated developer settings and changed every animation setting to .5x. I cannot speak to the animations of the pixel launcher
One other thing I should note... I have the unicorn beetle pro supcase on both the pixel 2xl and the pixel 5. The pixel 2xl feels so much bigger in my hand. It does not feel comfortable to use one handed but I can use the pixel 2xl one handed if needed (it requires careful up and down adjustment to avoid dropping the phone.) The pixel 5 is the perfect size - IMO. It is very comfortable. I feel like typing on the Pixel 5 keyboard is a tad bit different than typing on the Pixel 2xl. Just in case it matters, I use SwiftKey keyboard because I like Microsoft's implementation of moving through text via long press of the space key. Also, SwiftKey still has the ability to search Google or Bing while one is typing.

The headphone jack makes a lot of sense. When you have a expensive car you get more digital and wireless connections with the deck. You're not gonna buy a nice ride with android auto or carplay and think "I can't wait to plug the aux cord in". Or with sound systems at home never once have I thought how awesome it would be to plug my phone in. Everyone keeps saying how smart google assistant is and how they miss chromecast audio yet never seem to just use their devices correctly. No one wants to wait for that person who always asking if they can plug their phone in to play music. I always tell them sure and while they're digging around to plug their charger and the aux cord I just tell Google or siri to play something. Not once have I missed the headphone jack. If everyone claims to have the devices they do or use you should have way more android devices than I do. I use iOS and Android so from my 2017 vizio m55 and 2018 LG C8 tvs to the sound bar surround system to 2 google minis and 3 HomePods to 1 beats solo 3, 1 beats x, some Wireless ear buds to the 2010 honda crosstour I have not needed or planned on needing the headphone. The only issue I do have is the inconsistencies with android and usb audio in the car. 1 out of 10 times it'll work but on iOS it always works. Music with the usb connection is Soo much better than the aux cord. None of that high pitch noise you get a lot with the aux cord, can control music from steering wheel, don't have to mess with the volume on the phone and deck so it sounds better, music stops on it's her when someone calls so none of that kng the person to hold while u turn off the music so everyone can hear each other, don't have to worry about getting a ticket for touching my phone while driving.

@@tylersmith4265 you get use to it tbh
The battery life on the Pixel 4xl Is pretty good. I normally get around 7hrs screen on time in a 24hr period. Sometime pushing 8hrs.
That's it? My iPhone 1 gets 16 days on screen time ...pfft....
Earphone jack on mid- to lowrange phones makes perfect sense. For everyday use those are the people that still use wired earbuds.
I just can't see why you wouldn't want a headphone Jack tbh, it just gives you an option for wired headphones / aux
You just pissed off every audiophile
Idk I just like the convenience of being able to keep using the same headphones I've had the last five years without worrying about an aging battery lol
I just got the pixel 5 from best buy for $500 on black friday!!!
I got the pixel 4a I had to wait a week which isn't that much but it was worth the wait. It usually lasts me 12 hours, battery time depends on your usage. I haven't had any problems with the phone getting hot at all.
Best display and camera quality
On Amazon both 4 and 4 xl can easily be grabbed for around 300-450 renewed.
Got pixel 5 and love it battery life is on another level 8hrs sot consistently and superb camera still the best on any smartphone today imo you cannot notice it's got the lesser Snapdragon in best pixel to date by far
How are the speakers. Can you hear video calls easily or you use ear buds.
@@mansisayal9510 sound could be better when playing music etc but for calls and UA-cam there fine also pretty loud
🙏 I'd really be interested in a battery comparison between all the Pixel 4 & 5 models!
Almost 2 years in my 4xl still has all day battery life. The thing literally had the same battery life as an s10 +
120hz 90hz 60hz ultra motion display
Snapdragon 835 from 2017 still running most games flawlessly.
4000mah battery
Front facing speakers
Its Huge !!!!!
Oh yeah if anyone is curious the battery life is amazing compared to my 3XL that needed charging quite a bit. Smart choice on the CPU Google! 👍
tell me your experience with the 3 XL i want to purchase one
Google said they didn't make a lot of the Pixel 5. On the Google Store, it's sold out. Google store in Canada. Looks like the US is still got it in stock for preorder.
Edit: Never mind. The original preorder sold out quick. Appears the second preorders for December is a go.
I weighed my options and I chose the 4a number one because of the price but also time it is mainstream I'll be ready for anyway.and the ultra wide camera thing which is the only standout feature that I see cuz I don't care about wireless charging I have phones with wide-angle cameras and I realized I never use that feature. So yeah I love my little 4a....it's nice to have a phone that's not huge... good vid, peace.
got myself the 5, so far, super satisfied
a bit of an info here
the 4a5g for 499$ has different 5g network(?) than the 5
for the same 5g network as the pixel 5, it costs 599$ which brings the price difference to only 100$ from the pixel 5
Have you had any problems with it? I keep hearing that some heating issues is something that keeps happening
just ordered a Pixel 4a 5g and Google is giving me $235 trade in for my Pixel 2.
how?? haha i offered mine and it offered me 35 dollars :( haha
@@zhupepexD They was running Holiday promotion. Hopeful they will run another promotion. I check on Slickdeals.net frequently for sales and promotions.
Downsides are no 5g, only 2 years worth of updates left, battery, no wide angle, face unlock (though I'm less annoyed by it by actually using it)
That was very helpful!! Thanks Android authority 🤙
Simple answer - 4xl - true full screen with no holes, faster, 2x zoom, face id, more premium materials, bigger and not more expensive
Got 5 already 🙂 amazing battery n camera
Is nice for photography?
Using pixel 4a... Its getting hot... really hot... battery is average
Can't wait to get it 😖
@@SriHari722 I have no heat issue in my 4a, battery is good as pixel 3a
@Tech UniverseTV no not really into cameras. I was looking for a lower priced flagship to take some pictures some decent or nice pics but which would u prefer S20 fe or Pixel 5? For value and photography?
Hi... Absolutely I right... Google pixel is valuable phone... Good design and performance... Good presentation ... Clarity and Clear review
My Pixel 2 XL just won't die so I am sticking with it. Other than stuttering animations from time to time it's been a perfect phone. Maybe next year
I just bought a refurbished pixel 3 from Google for $260. Qi charging, great processor, same camera. Win.
I got pixel 5 and i love it and 5 is my fav number 😁
Tempted to get one because google pixels are the only phones that will allow you to keep high quality photos in google photos for free starting next summer .
Pretty easy. 4a 5G.
Its basically a Pixel 5 for $200 cheaper, with a 60hz screen instead of a 90hz one and 2GB less RAM. The tiiiiiny bit larger battery/wireless charging aren't game changing features.
The IP 68 rating on the Pixel 5 plus the other stuff you mentioned helped my decision to go with the 5.
When are UA-camrs going to "prove" that Google's mid-range chips slow down?
I have a 3a and after 18 months is it running fine, as is my mom's 3a XL...
Bro I have been saying this. I’m convinced they don’t use the phone past the review periods. I gave my old pixel 3a to my wife. Still runs smooth and she loves it.
@@MrNomial Tru Dat. They probably dont even use the phones past a day or two. Never talk about features like battery saver and dark mode that extend battery life, or developer options that can speed up the phone and make scrolling more fluid...
Same😄 typing from my 3a and It's still buttery smooth after 14 months.
I'm considering to buy a Pixel 4a5G
same on black Friday
What phone are you coming from?
@@anthonyt425 sadly from Huawei honor 7X what about you
@@ZyaArt oh wow, that's the last phone I had. I upgraded to a 6T now.
@@anthonyt425 damn I thought about getting the 6t as well but I was indecisive because I like Google so much before that I had Nexus 6p for 4 years
If you want a longer firmware (software) updates, always buy the latest model... that's the golden rule!
I own 2XL myself. 5 has a lower screen resolution so the pixel density is lover. Does it show coming from 2XL?
@@boban61 I have not noticed a lower pixel density in my use. I do need to compare the screen brightness for my Pixel 2xl and pixel 5 side by side at max brightness. I will tell that I love the size of the pixel 5. It reminds me of the time before phablets!
Before you switched to 5 did you notice animations stutter on 2XL? Not always but it would drop some frames here and there. Especially when using gestures while multitasking I guess
@@boban61 every android phone I've had I have always activated developer settings and changed every animation setting to .5x. I did notice some moments when I was multitasking that there was some pauses but I had used a significant portion of the 128gb memory. My battery would not last a whole day because of my charging habits. Also, I have used nova launcher prime with animation set to "as fast as possible for 6 years.
If you can find a mint condition pixel 4 or 4xl for around 200£.. id say go for that over any of the new models. You will get better cpu performance, proper face Unlock, a premium haptic motor, and some other little bits
You look like Joseph Gordon Levitt. Great video btw!
I LOVE my pixel 4a! It's my first contract phone in 5 years
Lol I cant think about all those background noise. i was just trying to figure out what the voices in the background were saying😀.Had to watch a second time to concentrate on the video. Amazing video btw.
I got the pixel 4 64 gb for 525 AUD which is like $370 in March this year. So just wait for bargain deals on pixels.
I absolutely love my 4a 5G. I will never get another kind of android again. Data transfer, camera quality, battery life, and it's super snappy too. No need to spend 1000 on a phone again.
lmao, first time I read his name, thought his name was David IMEI
Question: If you have a 5G phone, can the phone still run 4G even if you don’t have 5G around you?
Yes Chang it in the settings from 5g/4g/3g to 4glte/3g/2g
The video i was looking for. Thank !!
And what about the screen issues in P5? You should have mention it... it's a real problem !
The pixel 5 is not dust resistant. It’s just water resistant According to Google and the 4a 5g is Nano coated for splash. So they say but I’m not going to try it that’s for sure.
For your money, the 4a can't be beat. I love my 4a but I do desire the faster processor. Still, I'm very happy with my purchase.
I feel like Google did all they could for the pixel 4a to make it great. Outside of wanting another color it's solid.
Is the 4a still performing the same as the day you got it? I might get a brand new Barely Blue 4a for $299.. that a good price?
@@gboy888 It's a little sluggish now than when I first got it for obvious reasons. I have more apps on it now and OS fixes from google, etc. But it is far from unusable. The one problem I noticed is sometimes the fingerprint reader doesn't read my fingerprint very well and it feels a bit slower than before. Battery is still good. It will be good for another year and then I will update to a new pixel. As for buying one, I thought google discontinued it on their website. If you have the money, then you might want to consider the 5a, but it's up to you. It's a year old, so I would think $250 is reasonable, $300 is just okay, not a deal.
@@peace4myheart thanks for the updated info on the 4a! I was able to order one on Amazon for a flash price of $299 last week but won't ship for about a week. I prefer the regular sized phones and would have ordered a 5a had they released 2 sizes. I'll keep my 4a order as it will replace my Pixel 3. Thanks again! ✌️🤙
Short answer: The one you can afford
I'm torn between the Pixel 4a and the Pixel 5. I'm a real sucker for the sage green color, and wireless charging is borderline a deal-breaker for me.
I also really like a headphone jack and that $350 price tag. Ahhhh I'm so torn.
Get the 4a5G and put a green skin or case on it. Problem solved. 😁
I think 90hz screen on pixel 5 is kinda worth it overtime cuz it will make your phone feel smooth overtime with the pixel software and 5g but just wait couple of months till the price drops
Still loving my Pixel 3XL...Considering the 4XL as it has a superior processor, build and display to the rest. I can live with 6gigs of ram as the 8 gigs on the 5 is cancelled out by the inferior processor...yep, that would be the best choice.
How do you know apps will slow down and why should they? 64GB is a rip-off by apple. It’s the small soda at the movies. Phones should start at 256GB. Then we would have to subscribe to online storage!

please help. all have same chip set and similar camera setup. i need a good battery back up. my work schedule is of 10 to 12hrs
I got a used Pixel 4XL absolute steal compared to the other phones.
Love pixel devices❤️❤️❤️
I really like 4XL because everything I see in 5 and 4A was in 4XL from the beginning.
Nice Video! I'm looking for the best camera + video for my work, which pixel you suggest to buy for it? Thank you.
