The main differences between TATA & MAHINDRA are - 1. Tata discontinued all of their old products, as well as u dont get good service support for those vehicles. At the same time Mahindra is still continuing their 30+ yrs old models, along with good service support, if not everywhere, but still around most of the states. 2. Mahindra has their own in house M-Stallion & M-Hawk engines, these 2 engines r gem, Tata had it's own Dicor engine, but now it has none.
Reason for Automobile Companies not trying for a sport-specific cars is the LACK of infrastructure in india. When have we ever had good roads? Only in last 5 years, have we started seeing better roads in india. And animals(cattle) on road is still an issue, along with rickshaw, scooty, cycle all coming and hogging. These factors were not present in european, american or japanese countries hence they could develop and pitch it to their customers.
@@VarunTomee-kr6nf Lol, just one. compare it with today. It's not about which government build (like you specifically mentioned) it's about the overall condition of roads india
Biggest problem in indian automobile market is government don't want people to purchase cars, because making and maintaing the infra is more expensive, government is not able to provide nessesary space on the roads and the pace at which construction is being done except some regions is horrible, and the pick pocket behaviour of government is another pain for people. Mr. Ardishir Godrej once said that the encouragement to accept substandard goods was simultaneously the reinforcement of the idea that products made in India were automatically of lower quality than those manufactured abroad. Though he was a true nationalist but against patriotism in manufacturing, eventually this philosophy led to Godrej in manufacturing indigenous rocket engines for ISRO.
How many people did buy old Grand Vitara, Baleno RS, S-Cross 1.6 Diesel & Kizashi ? How many people are buying Fronx Turbo ? Their present K-Series NA engines are more than good for >95% of Indian customers & as per rumors, they are developing a new 1.2 litre Turbo engine to replace 1.5 NA. Jimny, Swift, Swift Sports, etc. are popular in International Markets & they are one of the top selling manufacturers in Japan. But yes, I agree, they didn't live up to their potential. They could do much better than this. I don't judge quality of car by touching interiors, dashboard. I see overall experience in long term & how reliable the car is overall & MS is excellent in this. They know Indian market more than any other car manufacturer in India. 👍🏻
The irony of Tata motors electric division starts with putting a vocal for local sticker on their ev's which carry majority of parts from China, I.e. motors, batteries etc.
You talk about global brands such as Toyota and Honda not selling many models in India. The reason is the high taxation in India. Entry level cars such as an Accord or Camry sell in the West for 25 lakhs but are luxury cars in India that cost 50 lakhs plus. At this price no one would buy them in the West where the per capita income is much higher. The Mahindra SUVs will not sell in Europe or America. They are underpowered and very sluggish. Probably hard to merge onto highways with these cars. Most modern cars reach 100 Kmph in about 6 to 8 seconds.
Maruti is no longer an Indian brand. The govt sold all of its stakes to Suzuki way back. Maruti Suzuki is just for name sake, it is Suzuki india now in reality
@drrbbbbb you have very old data. Govt of india let go of all its stakes in MSIL back in 2007 itself. Suzuki motor corp currently owns more than 55% and rest is basically owned several mutual funds

in a country where people were struggling for 3 times a day meal, how can we expect a company to make an enthusiastic car? and even if they do make one, where will these enthusiasts live their enthusiasm? on the race track which are too expensive? or on public roads which are riddled with potholes and heavy traffic? We need to improve our infrastructure first before thinking of such cars. and the sub 4 meter rule, while i can understand the intention behind it but please get rid of it
Indian car companies not going growing because lack of competition in India there is no competition there are only two competitors Mahindra and tata but they have their different standards and they are surviving and what are doing best in their sectors I think India wants new competition in automobiles especially in cars companies

Here and there some good points Gagan mentioned about the core topic. I really hope he actually creates another video, just to summarise these key points. I personally feel, Indian Government and Auto Manufacturers should first target how to make India as hub of Global Manufacturing (Regardless if its done by a proper Desi Brand or any international brands). Today most of the highest selling cars are made for India models. So unless we start building made for global markets in India, we cannot reach our ultimate aim for making Indian brands as global brands. Also in this podcast, some of the key developments have totally ignored. Tata building new plant Chennai to manufacture JLR and Tata EVs on common platform for global market. Toyota building a totally new plant in Aurangabad, which will produce like half a million cars. Maruti Suzuki building worldclass EVs for itself and Toyota for Global market. Force motors build engines for BMW and Mercedes. The list is long which can easily confirm, India will become a global manufacturing hub for Automobile. Probably by 2030. And I fully agree with Gagan on one point, a strong consumer market (which was not there say 10 years back) will surely help to achieve this dream even more quickly.
In our country people have no experience of driving dynamics and the feel of driving quality of cars selling outside india for eg. even people have started demanding safety features recently from last 4-5 years after Tata advertise it i.e they don't know what they can get if they start criticizing brands and demand quality cars.

After watching this podcast I realised the differences in the content of both of Faisal and Gagan. Gagan viewpoint is practical and offers better perspective to potential Buyers. Even in other people’s podcast like red Mike and with Sunil Munj he gave insights of automotive industry not just in India but around the world. Also his content on buying an EV and showcasing the problems of the buyers is more relatable and unique. Faisal’s reviews are more of enthusiasts POV and fast. I guess maybe he’s also shooting blogs and reviews back to back that’s why. Frankly I only watch his videos to check rear seat legroom and him giving the beans, that’s it. I like his vlogs more than his reviews. Both Gagan and Faisal are one of my favourites, my best wishes to both of them.
Same thing happened in real estate -- ec is defyning flat changes ,layout design ,open space which is governed by dc rules -- killing the project look and amenities
Long term problem with indian manufacturers is they didn't go inhouse for EV components design earlier, EV components are mainly Power Electronics Design in terms of most of the cost, but indian companies didn't hire Engineers working on these technologies, they should have done that at least 7 to 10 years ago. Now hiring may not help it's already too late.
Patriotism does play a major role. It’s called inflection point in terms of product strategy. They capitalised on make in India movement during covid era and now they’ll milk the benefits.
I don't understand one thing at one point they are saying Korean and Chinese people promote their home brand they support and prioritise their own brands but when tata and mahindra being Indian brands supported by indian people, they have issue with that. Yes mahindra has issues tata has quality issues but they are trying and improving day by day. But we have to support the brand and buy their cars. If we wait for them to improve cars in one go it will take time and this will lead to decline in sale numbers and thats not how we will have homegrown car brands. I don't understand these car influencers and enthusiasts what they want. If we want to have a good indian brand we have to support the brand in its thick and thin. Only than we can have a good brand.
Bhai bolna asaan he jab khud gadi kharidni hoti he tab ye sab kon sochta he aur aap ka to pata nahi par majority of Indians jab bhi cars kharidte he woh atleast 10 years ka soch kar lete matlab reliability to zaruri he hum konsa Dubai k Shaikh jo har mahine ya saal me gadiyan change karte rahege
No if an indian company cannot give proper customer support i wouldn't support back.... bought 1st car from Tata in 2021 (altroz petrol) coz post COVID felt we needed a car...but in 2024 i wanted a car i went for japanese for reliability and service However I absolutely love the design of mahindra be 6e, i hope mahindra makes a good looking electric near 10lakhs on road
It was an amazing podcast, got to know many new things, Faisal bhai do a podcast on how you guys came into this profession and met and the journey after that, it will be amazing ❤
It's simple Tata can't make good, reliable cars and Mahindra is only focused on developing markets like India and SA. The EU and USA have high safety and engine regulations and the users have high standards for cars, so they can't simply export, they need to create new models which will take some time. But Mahindra are focusing on exports from India and not taking a fresh look at each market. Force motors are only into commercial space and SUVs(without tech, touchscreens and modern requirements ).
Both these speakers are forgetting the fact that none of the global models are selling like hotcakes in India. Case and point for Suzuki they have an India variant for the three cars that are global namely swift Ignis and baleno. Their global partner Toyota doesn't want to sell any of these India specific Suzuki models rebadged as Toyota in any of the global market.
Actually cars manufacturers never marketed high power cars for enthusiasts because of the high fuel price. This is actually ground reality and goes both for manufacturers as well and end consumers Now SUV 's are sold because of good National Highways and Express ways. Similarly if Fuel prices and taxes go down then manufacturers will also get a boost to market performance oriented vehicles.
This Tata won't ever improve in next 70 years or even lifetime. They have been making cars from past 26 yrs and till today they couldn't fix these issues, then what they will do now. And I am sure they will never ever improve the issues of their cars.
The more EVs takes over , forget having a unique car, all cars will be the same and now these days even mobile companies want to make a EV car , kudos to Mahindra to give us a proper handling car in the form of BEV 6
all these foreign companies, even our local companies never cared about catering to car enthusiasts in india. These foreign companies sell enthusiast cars outside india but they dont in india

@faisal I love the conversation! Please make more of these discussions!!! I am a motor head, i have been following you since some years and Gagan too. Please just don’t stop! Go ahead make more noise about going global!
Thanks! We are working on it!
Thats why in Australian market XUV 700 is really selling great and their reviewers are also enjoyed them riding. Even a few cricketers own Mahindra in australia. Also, similar to South africa where they loved the 3X0 as well.
Because mahindra actually did r&d but not tata, even though I have tata punc, punch is a good value of money car but fit and finish is not up to the mark, engine is under power and gearbox is average

I feel Faisal can do any podcast all alone… 😂❤
0:47 yes ofcourse Jonny bhaiya is multi-talented 😂
As we All Know That Faisal Loves Talking That's Why Jonny Bhai Is Talking Less😅
NO
Bhai bolna asaan he jab khud gadi kharidni hoti he tab ye sab kon sochta he aur aap ka to pata nahi par majority of Indians jab bhi cars kharidte he woh atleast 10 years ka soch kar lete matlab reliability to zaruri he hum konsa Dubai k Shaikh jo har mahine ya saal me gadiyan change karte rahege
Your opinions will change when you deal with them and how they treat their customers
@@hav7oc in korea improvements are done
No if an indian company cannot give proper customer support i wouldn't support back.... bought 1st car from Tata in 2021 (altroz petrol) coz post COVID felt we needed a car...but in 2024 i wanted a car i went for japanese for reliability and service
However I absolutely love the design of mahindra be 6e, i hope mahindra makes a good looking electric near 10lakhs on road
Next podcast topic - "Car Enthusiasts Segment ? - Is it the next big thing?" Coz so many people want likes of polo, ecosport, freestyle, punto back.
If liberalisation happens in 1980 and government only allows 50-50 partnerships with local brand. Then we get world class cars
It was an amazing podcast, got to know many new things, Faisal bhai do a podcast on how you guys came into this profession and met and the journey after that, it will be amazing ❤

This is the best podcast in
terms of the knowledge about the automobile industry
They both forgot that avg indian earns 2000$ per year
7:54 Honda be like: Accha Sila diya tune mere pyaar ka💔💔
Don't forget that you are a fan of Honda too
I really wanted you two guys to get on a podcast!
Best collab❤
No Be 6e and xev9e talks as this is Old podcast 😢😢
Actually cars manufacturers never marketed high power cars for enthusiasts because of the high fuel price. This is actually ground reality and goes both for manufacturers as well and end consumers
Now SUV 's are sold because of good National Highways and Express ways. Similarly if Fuel prices and taxes go down then manufacturers will also get a boost to market performance oriented vehicles.
Indian car struggling to go globally and one brand called Vinfast 😅
please let Gagan speak he has things to say bruh!!😭
Hopefully tata can improve fit finish and electronics to compete globally with their avinya brand
This Tata won't ever improve in next 70 years or even lifetime. They have been making cars from past 26 yrs and till today they couldn't fix these issues, then what they will do now. And I am sure they will never ever improve the issues of their cars.
Really good podcast covered all relevant topics 👍
We got Faisal and Gagan's Collab before Gta 6 😘😘
The more EVs takes over , forget having a unique car, all cars will be the same and now these days even mobile companies want to make a EV car , kudos to Mahindra to give us a proper handling car in the form of BEV 6
I think people prioritise other things in india before car
Imagine if the honda tata partnership actually went through back in the 80s
I like this format idea
Call other youtubers
Whose energy can keep up with Fa Kh
I wanna hear these
1) Hormaz sorabjee
2) shubhabrat shumi marmar
all these foreign companies, even our local companies never cared about catering to car enthusiasts in india. These foreign companies sell enthusiast cars outside india but they dont in india
