Erik I was a welding instructor for about 28 years high school academics and night classes for adults my welding took me into x-ray welding on high pressure lines, vessels and tanks so what I tell you I know. Two things when you are welding that bracket on the tractor instead of laying a small rod in the gap, this is wrong it will work but the possibility of it checking (cracking) could happen. A better way is to tack weld a 1/4" backing plate on the bottom of the gap this way you are insured of a much purer weld. also, to strengthen the weld even further after making your weld and you're finished grind a large "X" over the weld make this pretty deep then look for porosity if none then weld the X and then you will not have to redo this weld ever again. Erik yes you should check out your local training center for an adult welding class it will enhance your welding skills greatly, good luck Erik I hope this will help you in the further...

I think it’s unanimous proclamation by the viewers that Chris be added permanently to the Larson Farms crew. He’s a natural in front of the camera, already shows skill holding one and seems to know more about maintaining the trucks than anyone else on the crew. Don’t know what it would take to uproot him from Iowa but I’d start looking into it. Meanwhile there is an expression for repairs like The Swede was doing. Goes something like this: M-I-C-K-E-Y-M-O-U-S-E! Be a miracle if some of those welds hold. Then again, sometimes it’s the shakiest looking repairs that stand the test of time. We will see.

    Eric
I'm no professional welder but one of my best friends is a professional.
Here's what he's told me. Burn it in hot, preheat your thick metals, weld-through primer works & should be used and learn to stick weld. It's a much stronger weld.
He tells me that but then I've seen him weld all thicknesses and different metals with mig, tig and stick. Like mild steel, tool steel, copper, brass, stainless steel. Welding really is a science.

Hate to be a stickler but the only way to properly adjust brakes is to jack up the axle and turn the slack adjuster while rotating the wheel and stopping when the brakes just start to make contact. Your tightening all the way and backing off a half of a turn might work well if all pins and bushings are relatively new but I have seen too many smoked brakes in my lifetime taking this short cut. If linkages have any wear on them that half turn may never even translate to release the shoes enough to not get them smoking hot.

I’m alittle late to the show and have been watching back episodes. Can you maybe do a history on how Brody and the big Swede cam to work at the farm and did you know each other beforehand. Thanks love the videos

We don't know the initial agreement between Chris and his Iowa farm boss, but I don't think this will be the last we see of him.
