The toughest part of life sometimes is being told the truth. You said a lot Mark, a lot of truths. I am an African from Liberia and all that you outlined are issues the continent is suffering from. Corruption is eating our beautiful continent. Corruption from individuals, homes and to the top of our governments. Mama Africa is being abused by her own people.

Thank you for this honest message Mark. I understand what you are saying. I lived in Tanzania for two years in 2020 till 2022. I see it as a spiritual warzone. Those of us from the diaspora who were called to go to the mitherland, and who are now being pulled back out, we are like soldiers in the front line of a war zone that need to be replaced for some time by other soldiers. We are called back home by the General to go get our selves back in shape, to help those at home understand the battle field, to heal and maybe again to come back to contine build the motherland. This spiritual war in the motherland is not a joke. I believe the strategies are from another level if understanding.

I get the emotional turmoil but why must everything be described in war terms? I do wonder what drives us to these extremes: is it self-preservation in a chaotic world or simply the selfish nature in us that sees the other as an enemy to be defeated?
If we can't stand in our own peace long enough to see the wood for the trees, then we've fallen at the very first hurdle.

Things will change when we change. There is good and bad everywhere. It isn't necessarily our job to fix it, but to be examples of what is possible. We must protect our peace, have realistic expectations, surround ourselves with people who have good intentions, but remember that all skin folk ain't our kin folk. The west doesn't have all the answers, nor does the continent. We have to get out of our own way sometimes and stop thinking that we know what another community needs. For sure, what they don't need is for us to save them, so that energy is best used on us, improving ourselves when we relocate. Then we can exemplify what we hope to see in in others.

💯. So true. Africans are the other side of us and we are the other side of Africans, so to speak. In the U.S. we were whipped to conform to be socially accepted and the type of humans that they could tolerate. And even then, we are judged and considered less civilized. Africans seem to be free to do what they want. They may not see it as good or bad. Also corruption was rewarded in Africa by the very ones who punish us severely in the West for the slightest "crime" or "disrespect". Africans do not worry about what we worry about and vice versa. Breaking them or breaking us to fix something is not a good thing. There has to be a way to focus on what we have in common and build from there to have a better union.

He's from Africa and would tell me that it's not what we think and that much of all that positive feedback shared on social media was exaggerated or was a lie. I felt the same feelings everyone else did about being there and I never got there but as I watched all these different UA-camrs and their experiences I began to realize my husband was right, like so much of what you are saying. From those here who give me undue respect to those out to take advantage - from the bottom all the way up to the top, I see them all. I know exactly why they're the way they are. They've been exposed to more suffering than I'd dare imagine.
But the joyous and honest people within these borders are volumous. We've felt safer here than anywhere else in the world. This truly is a wonderous nation - it seems that no amount of greed or corruption can destroy the spirit of its people.

I thought I was not going to respond somehow I feel I need to give another angle which you may have missed, I will only refer to South Africa since you mentioned it in the comment.
Firstly no one ever said Africa has or is everything where you will see golden paved roads, yes the narrative a lot of AA or those who have never set foot in Africa had or still have misinformation about Africa as a continent based on what they see on media space. A lot didn't even know what to expect based on what they have been fed.
Sometimes i wonder what people like really want to see Africa to be or sound like, it is important firstly to do research about the country that you consider to visit so that atleast you have proper background the country and also engage with locals to be well informed..
You probably may not be aware that South Africa is housing largest number of 'foreigners' who come for different reasons be it study, work, vacationing or seek for better opportunities. Whilst SA has it own challenges it is also burdened by number of illegal immigrant who are running away from somehow failing systems in their own countries. The battle of low paying jobs also causes problem between locals and foreigners who are forced to take jobs that pay them lesser than acceptable range that on it own is a problem..
South Africa is known to have high rate of unemployment even crime do you know why, because it's one country that's able to keep stats for everything that's happening in the country to add on that even crimes that do happen you can check now crimes are done both by South Africans as well as foreigners not me saying that but states indicate that and also give indications which crimes are commonly done by criminals from various nationalities including South Africans. This is well known if you have been to SA and understand the dynamics or politics of the country, Go black to Africa and other Vloggers have shown the good and bad of SA so I don't understand what do you mean if you say they only show the 'good only side' is your country perfect?
The struggle is never over in SA citizens are not scared to stand up to government and demand what should be done to make the country accommodative for everyone, the inequalities between poor and rich and other socio economic conditions to improve the country is something that is always on the top list of what people are fighting for.
There are 54 countries in the continent and all are diverse with their good and also challenges, for you to talk like that is truly embarrassing

@Steven Layne I don’t know how old you are or how many countries you have been to worldwide but your snarky comments leave a lot to be desired. FYI migrants everywhere find challenges because in every country, there’s a lot of things that are not working as we would like them to be but that doesn’t mean that we sweep the good under the rug because some naive people are not going to use their common sense. The reason most foreign ytubers especially AA in Africa are happy when they first come is to be applauded not sneered at as they feel elated to be HOME! The major REASON they focus on malls, a few developed areas that they find is 1. To let people with your mentality know that not all Africans live in huts or in the wilderness or sleep with lions etc 2. Is to encourage those married to the comforts of the western () lifestyle to know that you will be able to find your junk food and gadgets if you are willing to pay the price

Acting like your lives in America is better. Name any negative statics in America and Blacks are at the TOP and when those stats are positive blacks are at the bottom. Crime, poverty, education, health and economic stats shows black Americans are adversely affected by all above any other groups in America. Nairobi is not the whole of Africa just as the Bronx is not the whole of the Americas. There are many countries in Africa where cleanliness is prioritised e.g. Botswana , Namibia , South Africa etc In SA we have prestine beaches. Part of the reason why certain parts of big cities in SA are now avoided by SAns is because foreigners come in and live as they did in their countries ..throwing trash everywhere. South Africans loath that...rich or poor we are obsessed with cleanliness. So to associate trash and filth with all Africans is very wrong and a lie that needs to be called out. If you ask South Africans why they avoid certain areas that are now predominantly populated by foreigners they will list dirt as one of their main reasons .

As a Pan African who has been to 3 African countries with an intent on moving there one day and living there I had to finally coming to grips with reality.I had to finally leave because the energies and spiritual forces were to low and extremely negative, almost demonic. And so as a diasporian I had to admitt to myself that the only way I'd ever go back is that the African American community would have to have worked out a land deal similar to the Jews in Israel with the American government and an African government in which we can have our land and are allowed to create our own Pan African nation our own selves and our children. I refuse to waste any more time investing money and energy into a place where you are really not respected and in many cases not even wanted. I have not grown bitter or selfish, just wiser and more prudent. Every sane, intelligent person the world over seeks to provide and take care of their own people first and as an African American I've come to see that we can not concern ourselves with Africa in its present condition we cannot do anything about that, so we must gather our African American families and take care of ourselves. The only way I'd even think about living there is to somehow secure independent land for the African American nation in which we can create our own community with a security force and all and build out from there. That is the only way we as a people can survive there and be protected, unmolested and completely energized by the good vibes and energy of other African American families, freinds and comrades. Hi Mark I am new to your videos and contend. I love your raw honesty. But good brother so many in Africa it seems are in a state of constant struggle. Yes they have rich cultures. But poverty and struggle produces a certain type of personality. Even in United States we have a kind of permanent under class that lives daily with rage and crime. This attitude took decades to produce.

Mark, I watched your latest interview with GoBlack2 Africa host. Keep your standard, keep your "moral compass" much of, if not all of what you said in that interview was correct and on point. I am a chronological elder, however you have been given the gift wisdom and discernment at an early age, don't doubt yourself. If I were to give you any suggestion it would be: take yourself out of the situation retreat, and meditate , sometimes when we come to a "road block" hinderance that is the spirit telling us "its time to come within so I can tell you the next steps" "you've gone as far as you can go within the the boundaries of this part of your assignment" We should never stay when our spirit tells us its time to leave this part of our assignment, Time to reset, my mind (thinking). Blessings!

Oh Mark, you have summed up well the frustrations many of us deal with when trying to reconnect with folks in Africa. And you don't need to recreate the same message maybe a part two. I watched the Zambian video with #goblacktoafrica and appreciated both your shared perspectives on corruption in Africa and in the west.
I left Africa many years ago and have my own experiences that have put me off about returning there because of poor justified behaviors, low business ethics and morals. Here in North America, I am now accustomed to the best versions of me I can be and work along side similar minded people. Most Africans are used to doing what they do because that culture is all they know and I can't fault them. I believe broadening the education will help and give them a reference point. The change starts from the top to bottom and not from bottom up. Without leaders supporting change and acknowledging these problems you highlighted in this video, these problems will continue to deteriorate the continent which is home to all black people.

Mark, first of all I would like to thank you for your honesty. I am always so blown away by your wisdom at such a young age. It is so astonishing to see and I thank the ancestors for letting me find your channel and to experience your wisdom.
I grew up in nigeria and after many years in the states I got my green card. I contemplated upgrading it to becoming a full US citizen because I was a "Nigerian". I got the call to go back to Nigeria just like you did and I spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to learn what you have also just learned. Within months of moving back to the states to start all over I was an American citizen. I never knew nor understood the great blessing I had to be an American and to be exposed to other people in the world. I still plan to go back to Africa one day but I am doing it with the full knowledge of the people I am going to try to help. I had to convince myself that I would help people that look like me not based on how they are. BTW this also includes African Americans in the state. Who have been the most challenging to deal with since I started living in this country, even though I have been happily married to an African American for 12 years. I am yet to decide if we as a people are just like this or that we mentally damaged based on what has been done to us over the years. Lately I have just decided that there are good people and there are bad people, and color shouldn't be the deciding factor.
A big takeaway from this video is when you mentioned that Africa is a deeply spiritual place and that there are angels and demons there. Truer words have never been spoken. Please make sure you are protected spiritually before you attempt to be in that place as a black child. If you don't understand this now, time will explain it in due course.
Keep doing your thing because it was what you were called to do. Just like the rain falls on both the good and the bad, so does the sun and so does the moon. They all do what they do, irrespective of who they are doing it for. But they stay true to who they are. Do not let the recipients of your blessings, change who you have been made to be. Wish you all the blessings and love brother.

You are so on point. We must remember that when Yashua Parents was told to flee land where we come, they went blended in where people that look like us but don't necessarily serve the same Elohim that we serve so just because they look like us doesn't necessarily mean they have the same beliefs or the same Elohim we serve. Some of the serve gods and idols carved of wood. Inwhich, the words god is a title anyone can be named, but the Elohim is the name of TMH. His name is set apart.

I am amazed at some of these youtubers talking about organic food and beautiful places .All the fertilizers and pesticides banned in America and other Western countries are shipped to Africa ! The life expectancy of the average African country is in the 50s so why do you think that is ? Trash EVERYWHERE ! The average African American turns a blind eye when they go to Africa ,because they are so excited at the 6 bedroom mansion they are able to rent for $300/month, they do not care about the children begging on the street !! Africa has a LOT of problems ! Pretending these problems are made up by the Western media is not helpful !

I do agree with your response to my comment, however I think that majority of African American / Caribbean do help the people and children while and where they can. And yes you're right in saying that whatever fertilizer and pesticides banned in Europe and America they send it to Africa but they also send banned medicine. Africa is like a dumping ground for things they don't want, they sell it to the currupt government. From observation I noticed that majority of polititions in Africa is selfish, they only think about themselves and their family whilst in power. Africa is the RICHEST CONTINENT with all the minerals the entire world needs yet the people are some of the poorest and living standards are some of the worst in the world. The rest of the world would not survive without Africa. There is one thing I guarantee the youths of today is not sleeping, they are awake wiser and gradually rising up. Change is coming gradually.

Africa is a mess to put it out there with all honesty, the country were I came from is exactly the way you describe on your video. I left the continent over 20 plus years ago and when I finally decided to come back I am in a mess right now. When you talk about the bad things ordinary people are doing they look at you different and say you are just difficult. When I see someone throwing trash on the floor it amazed me how they do that comfortably. I always keep my cool but you will get tired of it like you said in your video. But again like you rightly said will we’re brought back to Africa for a reason, not for the reason you think but to come fix Africa and African mind set. Thank you for this upload, I thought maybe I was tripping but it seems like allot of people born after the 80s are waking up to a few things, one being a scenario like this. People will complain or bring up issues (some valid, and others invalid), and then not do anything to try and fix it or they just won't acknowledge the problems at all. You're one of many in the new generation, I see not only bringing up valid issues but trying to do something to fix it and being real about it. Our people have a tendency of just going with the flow, or bringing up issues and not doing anything, hence one reason why we have not been able to move forward as a people. I think more of us in the new generations are going to be the turning point in a long list of bad habits in our culture, regardless of where we are scattered. So thank you for uploading this video. Keep learning, keep growing, and most of all KEEP PUSHING! We need to change or we will soon be lost and completely trampled by the other nations, more so than we are now.

At the same time, the place you are (overall self) sounds necessary in order to accomplish what you intend (whether there or elsewhere). You sound more grounded now. Very often our compassion offers excuses to folks who don't deserve it. With ref to the bible, the golden rule holds true there as it does everywhere... Do unto others... And if we're part of nature, we ought treat it like self. You appear to have a righteous nature and that cannot be taught if ones heart is not. That has to be dealt with from a higher power. Your work is much respected and appreciated. Be well. Be encouraged. God Bless.

Mark thanks for the candid talk.
This is not pillowtalk. It is a reality talk and I really appreciate your insight into your personal experience. You are on the ground and are the Frontline, so to speak.
The front-runners are there to let the rest of us know what we will be facing coming to Africa. Without glamorizing. Without romanticism. Without deluding ourselves and others.
If, we, the diaspora tribes of other nations know what we are up against, we come with our eyes open and highly aware of the real deal.
You are so correct on so many levels Mark. And sometimes it is better to be the example of change, than to be a champion of a team. If, I am first a champion, others have an example of excellence to reach for. If, I lift the standard, others can have a foundation to stand on.
But...as you alluded to in your message, the layers of growth & development needed from a grassroots level & low vibration to perpetuate change is needed. It is wise to note, it will not penetrate or touch all. Nevertheless, if, we intend to come in to invest in our future, we will have to carve out a notch for ourselves. Clearly, Africans will not be able to do this for us.
But...if we lift up the banner, raise the standard and be the change, one by one we will affect people who want something greater.
Thanks alot. I am disillusioned and maybe even more cautious about putting down roots too quickly now, than before.
"We, maybe ready for Africa...but is Africa ready for us?"
In as much as, many changes have come and are coming in the Continent, it kinda makes one wonder...just how far does it have to go, to be deserving of our returning presence.
And, I ponder to think...if this is the demarcation line causing the distinction that really keeps Africa separated & askew; in the whole scheme of things. 🤔🙄🙃
In holding onto the ancient customs and mindsets, without change, is this their failure. Not being capable of bringing themselves into the reality-based modern thinking world of today.
As long as, a people, country or nation refuse change, it fails to adapt and gets stuck in the past. It is a dangerous situation.

Africa is a finished product after seeing what that statement actually mean.
Africa is in a state of finished project this is why it has no will to do much about it.
It has A very serious issue but will never go above it because it sees nothing wrong with it.

Thank you for this deeply personal introspection, Mark. In his eulogy to the late Tanzanian President, HE John Magafuli, PLO Lumumba said African leadership must return "hygiene" and integrity to fighting for their nations. He was right because leadership helps set the tone. After traveling to each part of the continent, I now encourage diaspora to move as immigrants and philanthropists in the short term. It really helps manage expectations on the social side. May the peace of the Most High return balance to your spirit. You're a blessing to hear.

Mark you are on 🎯 no doubt about it. Even to think you are going to change a system could be exhausting when they suck the life out of those who are sent to help. Right now one of my tenants is stealing my electricity LOL! He is about to be set up real good.

Six week before I permanently return to tanzania. Africa is beautiful yes but Africa will eat you up and spit you out. You have to be spirituality, psychologically and emotionally ready for Africa. We have always seen the upbeat mark, the positive and inspirational mark. It is good to see mark the human being. Sometimes it is necessary to take a step back to reevaluate situations. We appreciate you, what you have done and what you intended to do. We have full confidence in you but kaka, you cannot do everything. You have done the ground work for us, laid the foundation and show us the way, it is up to us who are coming to draw inspiration from what you and others have done and shown to us.

Hey Mark. It wasn't a ramble you spoke straight facts. You helped me see why I never fit in, in the work force, anywhere! I used to think I was letting poeople steal my joy. It wasn't that AT ALL! I was surrounded by negative energies. People where generally jus not happy but pretended daily that making money was a priority, the work place is where they had to do it and constantly in pretend mode for years and years took a toll on the psyche. Everything always started out great. Then when I came in in an uplifted state that was different then the rest. Eventually the work environment was a chore in itself to be in. This was a great informational video. The state TZ is in is exactly where the West wants them to be. They are definitely stuck. It became difficult to be there to see they are where I was in some aspects. Too difficult to be among and they refuse to do different. Seems to be a cycle that's unreachable

Wow! Long time follower of your channel and a fan of yours. STILL a fan. But I hadn’t watched any of your videos for a while. So this morning when I started watching I was thinking wow Mark has really become a different person. He’s really seems to be angry with people in Tanzania. Then I saw this particular video, which kind of explained it. Sorry you had to go through that. But you, GoBlack, and a couple other channels that I watched. I appreciate what you guys do because it prepares me for things to expect when I finally get to travel the continent.

I knew Mark would see it more and more the longer he was there. I want to see the people of Africa prosper, but it’s going to take a level of force. Unfortunately that’s the way it is for all developing countries. So as an African American I seek to make connections with not just Africans but Indians, Europeans and Chinese. I understand I cannot go there with the idea that all is lovely and the people should just stay the way they are. There’s no development in that. And in order to fix Africa, you have to align yourself with the people who have the power to fix it. Unfortunately it’s not Africans at this time. Africans have a lot of hard work still left to do, and most are going to at some point going to be forced to do it or get left behind....ETHICS or punishment!

I will say this I was in South Africa for 15 to I guess 17 days and my heart broke. I cry so much feeding little babies , I mean street kids left to fend for themselves. I was so culture shock by the sad and overwhelming acts of violence and poverty. Our teacher put us as 25 students out of the hotel and we lived and moved into the ghettos or slums with a chosen family for a short while. This open my eyes to so much stuff. I had a real out of body and mind experience. That is why one can not just come to Africa and build a house without a purpose. Do no harm is not just words. Yes we come with psychological baggage. And we need to fix ourselves before offering help to others. But as Pan Africans regardless of religious beliefs we are called to return because it is time to close the gap. No body said it will be easy. Our ancestors want us to come home good or bad. 😢 It may take generations for positive change. I desperately want to move to Ghana right now. But without health and the right amount of money it’s a failed plan before I even start. We must all think with wisdom and carefully plan. 😢

Leave South Africa out of this please. Do not come to South Africa if you are broke and have nothing to offer period. Just like I cannot up and leave to the US without a plan and nothing to offer.
However if you have the means, I guarantee you, you will live a higher standard of living in South Africa than you would in the US. This is a fact!!!

@@ronm4385 And he should also mention that what he experienced in the ghetto is not the norm for every part of whatever city he was in. Just as the US has the projects , drugs , gang banging and places like Skidrow with zombie like drug addicts ... We can't say that's the US because those are negative extremes and they don't define the whole country or everyone's experience . He should also remember that he was in that specific part of SA and in those specific communities for just 17 days.
