DO NOT miss reacting to ‘Rain’, which was part of the album but got released as a B-side single to Paperback Writer. It features Ringo’s greatest drumming ever!
Those little guitar runs, the added harmony on the lead vocal as the song progresses - pure Beatles genius. You are right in how every song sounds different but are identifiable as The Beatles.
Beautifully constructed song. McCartney is brilliant at that, and word play. He will often put subtle, clever easter eggs in his songs that most listeners will miss, just because he can. This song, for example. You may notice that each verse starts with a word in the title: here, there, then everywhere. I think Che noted a vital part of McCartney's genius, which is his sense of melody and harmony. And I'm glad you guys love his bass, which I have always thought is criminally underrated. Yeah, his melodies get into your head, and keep you company. If I recall correctly, McCartney said this is one of the very few songs Lennon complimented him on.
It's the Beatles magic. It can't be explained. Like how can I listen to a Beatles song so many years later and feel it's magic? How can my young nephew also feel that same magic despite the songs being from 1966? It is beyond explaining. :-)
Then John rubbed it in later with the song "How Do You Sleep?". I wonder if, in a moment of reflection, John ever regretted that song or not being more complimentary of Paul in general. I bet he did.
I’m glad y’all noticed Paul’s excellence on the bass. I knew you would. He plays like no one else. It’s fluid and natural. He’s also the best guitarist in the band. He played bass because no one else wanted to. He’s one of those rare guys who can pick up any instrument and play it well almost immediately and pull new sounds and ideas out of it right after that. To me, this is the best album they ever made. Nearly flawless.
This Beatles song is the first song I heard the Beatles sing on our local radio station in 1968. I still remember, we had just returned from Mexico and as we pulled in to our house "Here, There and Everywhere" was playing. It's amazing that I still have that memory.
When you said - ",,,,,,, It's something about their melodies that kind of dig into your soul." That is the most accurate description of what Beatles songs do to people, I've ever heard. I've seen people cry, when Paul Macartney band plays Please Please me more than 50 years after it hit the world. People cry - and so did I - on hearing the last Beatles song - Now and then. Indeed - the Beatles' melodies do dig into your soul.
Paul is one of the most amazing and musical bass players of all time. Other bassists may wow you with their technical prowess or their flashy styles, but Paul always surrounds and embellishes and carries the tunes he plays on with such class!
No one on the Beatles played bass like Paul on the Beatles. The Let It Be album was recorded live in the studio (and rooftop) so John and George had to fill in on bass when Paul was on keyboards. If you watch the Get Back documentary, you could tell both John and George hated playing bass. That's why Billy Preston's impromptu visit to the Beatles while they were recording Let It Be was such a godsend. The 1st song he played on in the studio with them was Don't Let Me Down. Lennon wanted to get tapes of their sessions on the song for him to listen, but George said just let him play along and see what happens. He nailed his part immediately. Paul, who is a great pianist himself, the look of awe and the smile on his face that he shoots to Billy is priceless...
The look on Paul's face when Billy started playing is my favorite part of the Get Back documentary, and I pretty much loved the entire 6 hours, or however long it was.
I've been searching for decades to find the right word for the "feeling" you guys are talking about that you just can't define when listening to The Beatles and the one that I think encapsulates that "feeling" the best is "Magical."
This song...still makes me well up. It's the true feeling of love that every human wants. Now & forever. And set to such harmonies & clean arrangements. Gorgeous.
I think “bittersweet” might be a good word to describe what you were saying - and it hits hard cause that’s the flavor of real life when you’re fully present, isn’t it
Bruce Johnson from the Beach Boys was visiting London and had brought a copy of Pet Sounds with him (before it had been released). They all went back to someone's flat and listened to the album and Paul went home that night and wrote this song.
McCartney said "It’s actually just the introduction that’s influenced [by the Beach Boys]… John and I used to be interested in what the old fashioned writers used to call the verse, which we nowadays would call the intro…this whole preamble to a song, and I wanted to have one of those on the front of ‘Here, There and Everywhere.’ John and I were quite into those from the old-fashioned songs that used to have them, and in putting that [sings “To lead a better life”] on the front of ‘Here, There and Everywhere,’ we were doing harmonies, and the inspiration for that was the Beach Boys. We had that in our minds during the introduction to ‘Here, There and Everywhere.’ " He claimed to have come up with the song's chords while sitting next to the swimming pool at Lennon's house in Weybridge waiting for Lennon to wake up.
As much as I love all kinds of music from around the world 🌎 and U.S ROCK, R&B, FUNK...the more BEATLES you play...the more I'm locked into my opinion, they are the Greatest Band Ever❣️ Magnificent. So happy to see you 2 enjoy them. Thank you ❗
Their music sounds simple and spare but it’s anything but. The music and lyrics are efficient and effective. Nothing is wasted. You can’t remove a note or a word. They were masters at their craft.
Just a fantastic song. This whole album and Rubber Soul are that bridge between the cute Fab 4 and where they’re stretching their wings and exploring new musical styles , so cool
I think the word Che was looking for to describe what about the Beatles is distinctive and gives him chills is "soul". An utter commitment to the heart of each song, and the brilliance to pull it off.
One of the best songs ever written, imo. And yet, there was one group the Beatles looked up to: The Beach Boys. McCartney maintains that “God Only Knows” is the best pop song ever written. I would say “Warmth Of The Sun” is right up there with it. You guys should explore the genius of Brian Wilson and The Beach Boys.
The Beatles are my favorite group of all time. I grew up on their music. That all said, I get the same feelings from their music: It makes me happy and sad, or perhaps nostalgic, when I listen to it. It makes me miss people and places and pets I knew in my life that are gone. It makes me miss simpler and happier times.
This song and ‘Something’ are my two favorite songs in life. I’ve listened to it thousands of times and still get chills. McCartney has melodies running through his veins. He’s a genius, of course 🫶🏽
This album was released on August 5, 1966...the only way I would know this is because that was the day I was born. I will be 58 years old this year. Great great album.
@rickmeister thanks for sharing...I got that impression. The album is pretty early yet nothing like prior albums. It is amazing how much changed in a couple years. I can only imagine living thru it as a teenager.
Like all great artists in any medium or genre the Beatles created musical compositions that reached deep into our innermost beings and hit a harmonic note in almost everyone. A rare feat that few artists have ever done.
I feel that as well... I love music and all sorts of styles and bands, but Beatles music always hit me different, and the atmosphere surrounding them seems to come out in the music.
Hi Guys, You are awesome, beautiful reaction to this 🎵 , you guys were exactly right on describing some of the Beatle songs. This one is sad and melancholy and beautiful.❤️🙏👍
It is TOO COOL to see you guys experience the Beatles. We went through this 50 odd years ago and watching you makes it brand new!!! I am 72 years old and loving this sh*t Bro!! Thank you. ✌, PJ
I love your reactions to The Beatles music so much. Love all your reactions, but this music is different, as you said. I was 10yo when the Beatles came to America. The radio was always playing one of their songs. We all grew up listening to this beautiful music. Thank you for this one. ✌Hi from NYC.
John Lennon used to say back then that my parents generation were the ones that thought they were nothing but noise.... lol. My mother loved this song and later on many others. They crossed genres and generations.
Don't forget the singles! The Beatles forever clanged the way music was sold and consumed from the single song to the album as the artistic unit, but that hadn't happened yet when they were releasing all this stuff in just a few years. And they refused to put the songs they released as singles--arguably their BEST songs--on albums. "Paperback Writer"/"Rain" is the single thst came out of the sessions that yielded this album. I say listen to it as well!
You guys got it right. The Beatles gift of melody was unique. Their music is typically joyful/bittersweet with a spark of the playful and innocent even as they matured. Glad you're visiting their albums!

The Beatles have a gift where they’re able to make you feel a certain way happy, sad or whatever. When you listen to them you’re in awe of their talent. Truly a gift from God for us to have some fun! Love your guys channel especially love your Beatles reaction. Can’t wait to see your reaction on if tomorrow never knows and the I am the Walrus.
The Beatles are Gods gift, that’s why we can’t explain it. It is special sad and happy. The key is their songs make you feel a certain way. We’re just left to shake our heads in amazement! I went and saw the movie Argylle yesterday and the Beatles new song then and now is in the movie! How cool is that! I’m only sleeping won a Grammy couple weeks a go! Absolutely amazing!
Please check out "Don't Let Me Down" live in an impromptu rooftop concert in London in the winter cold. How great they sound under such conditions is absolutely amazing! Also, their excellent cover of Motown's Smokey Robinson hit: "You've Really Got A Hold On Me" is spectacular!
All Beatles songs make me happy. Certain songs truly grab me and touch me fundamentally. This carries over to songs by the individual artists, all of the 4 Beatles. Needless to say, it's wonderful to watch a reaction of a great beatles song. All the best to you and yours. Cheers.
I was 3 or 4 when they were on Ed Sullivan. Grew up with them. And thanks to a very cool and good friend was able to see Paul in Toronto. Thanks Grant. 😊
Great memories. I was eight when they were on Ed Sullivan the first time. I'll never forget my teenage sister running into the living room hollering, "The Beatles are on! The Beatles are on!", as she switched the station from the cartoons l was watching. 😄 They were a big deal and had a huge impact on me.

Great Harrison song. Hope it makes it on! (Love to you). And this song is absolutely magical too.

To be clear, this is Paul. All Paul. John loved this song. Often said it was his favorite.
Agreed ❗ Haven't heard this song in years. It's a beauty ❣️
No wonder I fell in love with Paul.
Paul on 60 minutes said that when they finished the song, John turned to him and said "that a really good one I love this song" which meant a lot
I hadn't heard that -thank you. Makes my day❤
I'm not believing that one ......like John's version of that conversation ...LOL :)
Paul's lying lol. And that's fine.

And greetings from a fellow Trekkie!
That thing you can't find words for? Beatles MAGIC!
Paul always said that this was his best song.
So simple yet so beautiful.
When Paulie nails a ballad, he NAILS IT!!
Yep, and it stays nailed.
Instantly nostalgic in real time. They write songs that are timeless and eternal. Ear candy then, and now.
....candy?...I don't think so...
...maybe soul food...
"Changing my life with a wave of her hand", so beautiful.
It's the Beatles magic. It can't be explained. Like how can I listen to a Beatles song so many years later and feel it's magic? How can my young nephew also feel that same magic despite the songs being from 1966? It is beyond explaining. :-)

Paul McCartney said that John Lennon only complemented him once on a song that he had written. It was this song.
Then John rubbed it in later with the song "How Do You Sleep?".

Great choice, one of my fave Beatles albums ! the cover art is from the German graphic designer and bass player Klaus Voormann.
Probably beginning to end, the strongest set of songs in their catalogue.
The Beatles met Klaus Voormann in Hamburg in 1960!

Punks. (Think how much better they would have been if they had gotten haircuts.)
