By about the mid 60s Paul took the lead, John was deeply depressed. All the unresolved grief that he buried through constant touring came up - because he now had time after they stopped touring. He still wrote great songs. But he had to finally face the loss of his mum, his uncle (father figure), his best mate (Stu Sutclif) and abandonment by his father when he was a toddler. It manifested as depression, numbness. There was no help then. That's why Yoko was important. She helped him with early 'scream' therapy. Lennon sang some of this pain away in his brutally honest plastic ono band album. Raw stuff. Just him, Ringo and a German artist friend who played bass. Yes, Paul was the glue, especially after they stopped touring.
I can't wait. "Everybody's got somethin'..." and others will blow them away, and "Revolution #9" will f them up and/or put them to sleep, lol. 87.5% of that album has been certified as extraordinarily brilliant, heh.

if they hadn't stopped touring and concentrated on their studio recordings we wouldn't have masterpieces like this. at the time people were upset, but it turned out to be the best decision they made in their career.
Playing live gigs was a nightmare for them, not even worth it. No one could hear them playing/singing because the crowd was flipping out the whole time. Just a circus getting around even. Stopping touring was their best move & for their mental health.
Paul is like the middle sibling that mediates the rest of the siblings! In the middle keeping the peace. Imagine being a little kid with a big imagination listening to this. I really credit Sir George Martin and his production and sound elements as adding so much more to what the Beatles wrote. He was so instrumental I. His vision as a Producer and Sound man to adding these incredible orchestrations and musical elements to their music.

As far as I understand the Beatles always took pride in and said they worked on a consensus model - all 4 had to agree on all decisions for things to move forward. And, watching The Beatles Get Back on Disney is CRAZY great!!!

I.e. bouncy, sentimental, crowd-pleasing songs. So he wrote in that style--When I'm Sixty Four is an example. That's why you can hear that style in much of his music. Being a musical genius, he made that style fantastic.
Yes, I watched the whole Get Back documentary twice. Fascinating stuff to a Beatles fan (like me) and maybe to music fans in general. It might be a little much for a casual fan. 🤷♀️ in many ways, Paul has always been my favorite. The Scorsese documentary about George made me appreciate him more. Watching the Get Back documentary made me love John. You really get to see his silly side which is delightful. You also see how loyal, dependable, and lovable Ringo is throughout everything. Paul is still my fave Beatles but I love them all. ❤

John brought a rock n roll sensibility and a great voice allied with a cynical sense of humour, george brought a different approach to the construction of melody within the song, Ringo...don't get me started on how Ringo shaped the rhythmic attack of any Beatles song he played on. But John and George are the only ones I continued to listen to during their solo careers. Paul’s first few albums had some great songs, but most were boring. John’s voice has always been my favorite, his songs too. I was 9 the first time I heard the Beatles, and John was my first crush❤️

Now, as an adult, the song takes on more meaning musically and vocally. I haven't heard the song for over 40 years and the things I hear now in it really make me appreciate it more. During their down time while the others were content to just hang out Paul would go and see all types of artists performing to draw inspiration and ideas for songs and recording techniques. Definitely the engine of the fab four.
Paul's may favorite, too & was many people's favorite back in the day. Was my mom's favorite when she was a teen in the 60s, for sure. Yes, all the other Beatles said Paul was the hardest worker, when they didn't want to work he'd be like, c'mon, we have work to do! It’s just silly how much creative juice they had in their bottle. Some bands might have one or two songs , other bands might have an album or two but these damn guys everyone of their albums were just good.

I watched a documentary of scholars and one said to the other, referring to a convo they had had many years prior…“You were right, the “cute one” was the genius.” He was the innovator. The workhorse. The glue. And had the best vocals, 5 octaves. He bleeds melodies. McCartney is a gift. Love this song so much.
When I saw Paul, Linda was still alive. And when they did this song in concert he would be on a organ\piano and it would raise up and turn round and round.
Che, you are absolutely right. Paul was the glue, and my favorite Beatle too. He is a workaholic, and is still touring and releasing music. He pushed the Beatles to be better, called them to come to the studio, and worked obsessively to get each recording perfect. Ringo himself said that the Beatles wouldn't have recorded nearly as much music if Paul hadn't hounded them to come to the studio, and do one more take. Eventually, John, George, and Ringo wanted to slow down and enjoy other things, and got sick of Paul's direction, and the band fractured, and eventually disbanded. This happened After Sgt Pepper and Magical Mystery Tour, two very "Paul" concept albums. When it came time to record their next album the "White" album, officially The Beatles, they were fighting, with Paul and John recording separate songs in separate studios with John and George openly bad mouthing Paul in the studio--some engineers quit because they couldn't stand to see it. When you get to the white album, I'm sure you hear how the amazing collaboration and unity that made this album is gone. The white album is fantastic in it's own right, but more like solo projects with Ringo staying out of the fight and drumming when asked. I hope someone enjoys this. I really enjoy this channel. I am getting that Bio Let it be. I wanna recommend to you guys. Watch the bio Get Back on the Beatles. It shows them when they were smiling and having fun in the studio together. It also shows there strong friendship with Billy Prestin recording with him and having a great time. It really gives you a inside look at the band at better times.
Gentleman George Martin and Paul were the back bone of production and directing. Let It Be and Get Back great documentaries about the boys from Liverpool. All 4 were amazing musicians and writers. It’s like Led Zeppelin and some bands that had the ingredients of talent, heart, soul. Great reaction La/Che love that you are experiencing excellence in music. Keep on doing what you’re doing. White Album is pretty spectacular too.
The Disney 8 hours plus version of the documentary was called Get Back, the original 1 1/2 hour film was called Let It Be [Both 1970-filmed in January 1969].

The Let It Be documentary was incredible. I watched it a couple of times. All 6 hours, or however long it was.
In my mind, they are all strong BUT together synergistically they are a force to be reckoned with, especially Paul as the glue, the driving force.

John created the band, but by this time in the band's history, Paul was beginning to take over. This film and album was his concept.
He was largely in control of the Sgt. Pepper album too.
During their down time while the others were content to just hang out Paul would go and see all types of artists performing to draw inspiration and ideas for songs and recording techniques. Definitely the engine of the fab four.
Paul's may favorite, too & was many people's favorite back in the day. Was my mom's favorite when she was a teen in the 60s, for sure. Yes, all the other Beatles said Paul was the hardest worker, when they didn't want to work he'd be like, c'mon, we have work to do! Of course I love many Lennon songs but Paul was 'the' Beatle in my mind.

It’s just silly how much creative juice they had in their bottle. Some bands might have one or two songs , other bands might have an album or two but these damn guys everyone of their albums were just good.
McCartney is everything. I watched a documentary of scholars and one said to the other, referring to a convo they had had many years prior…“You were right, the “cute one” was the genius.” He was the innovator. The workhorse. The glue. And had the best vocals, 5 octaves. He bleeds melodies. McCartney is a gift. Love this song so much.
Paul was the one that made the phone call to rehearse and record. He was the one that didn't want the Beatles' rollercoaster to end.

Che, you are absolutely right. Paul was the glue, and my favorite Beatle too. He is a workaholic, and is still touring and releasing music. He pushed the Beatles to be better, called them to come to the studio, and worked obsessively to get each recording perfect. Ringo himself said that the Beatles wouldn't have recorded nearly as much music if Paul hadn't hounded them to come to the studio, and do one more take. Eventually, John, George, and Ringo wanted to slow down and enjoy other things, and got sick of Paul's direction, and the band fractured, and eventually disbanded.
This happened After Sgt Pepper and Magical Mystery Tour, two very "Paul" concept albums. When it came time to record their next album the "White" album, officially The Beatles, they were fighting, with Paul and John recording separate songs in separate studios with John and George openly bad mouthing Paul in the studio--some engineers quit because they couldn't stand to see it.
When you get to the white album, I'm sure you hear how the amazing collaboration and unity that made this album is gone. The white album is fantastic in it's own right, but more like solo projects with Ringo staying out of the fight and drumming when asked. I hope someone enjoys this. I really enjoy this channel. I still remember asking my dad to laminate a photo of Paul that I had cut from a magazine when they first came out, when I was 13. That pic was up on my corkboard till I graduated high school. Paul was and is my favorite Beatle too🌟

I am getting that Bio Let it be. I wanna recommend to you guys. Watch the bio Get Back on the Beatles. It shows them when they were smiling and having fun in the studio together. It also shows there strong friendship with Billy Prestin recording with him and having a great time. It really gives you a inside look at the band at better times.
Gentleman George Martin and Paul were the back bone of production and directing. Let It Be and Get Back great documentaries about the boys from Liverpool. All 4 were amazing musicians and writers. It’s like Led Zeppelin and some bands that had the ingredients of talent, heart, soul. Great reaction La/Che love that you are experiencing excellence in music. Keep on doing what you’re doing. White Album is pretty spectacular too.
