Always liked the creativity of this design, but I hadn't noticed the tenting bar before! Lean into that SNES cart gray with the Super Famicom colors on the action buttons.

Every day we stray further from the arcade cabinet. Lol, never ceases to amaze me. Also - I recently picked up a G16 from Haute42 - super impressed with it, especially for the price. Feels very premium, would def recommend checking it out! Great vid as always!
lol, @ your stray comment. That's probably true (though not always a negative). And I do have some more Haute42 products and will hopefully get to them soon. wow! 3d printing has some wild opportunities for hinges and movement in parts and I am so happy to see this start to make its way into fightsticks. the magnets and insulated wire harness is pretty clever. And I love that they have a DIY kit option for way less cost!
Ive had a hinge concept for awhile Instead of using traditional sanwa parts you would use a PCB with choc switches, to keep the low profile nature. And you shift the buttons way up on the PCB to the top of the board. You would then use right angle 10mm switches on the PCB for start/select buttons in order to preserve board real estate. This would make the board incredibly short. You could then do a hinge horizontally across it rather than up and down like in this example and if you gave it a simple locking mechanism like a 3d printed bolt on the main part, with holes on the other side for it look into This would give you the advantage of the portability of the snackbox but the wrist space of a larger unit. And you could make it really thin if you made it out of metal so that you could fit the whole thing in your pocket.
I think I'm getting what you're saying, and yes! That could be a really cool concept. I hope you make it happen someday since there is definitely a niche to fill with hinged builds. Thanks for sharing and for watching!
I imagine it wouldn't be too difficult to incorporate those concepts with what they have now. Like, extend the wires/sleeving between the halves and use a different hinge design which could more easily separate. I don't know if they have interest in that direction, but hey, it looks feasible. I saw something like this but instead of a hinge, it used sockets to connect the split box
