I have all other iPad apps for animation, Callipeg, Procreate, RoughAnimator etc..… but all pixels and some features are not so practical or their flow it's too elaborated. But ToonSquid seems to have more advanced features more related to After effects! So, wow! Smooth flow and with the option to create and modify vector elements! Thanks for the review!
i’m a very amateur animator who uses roughanimator but honestly this app seems fuller and more diverse in terms of brushes, features, easy interface, being so similar to procreate, etc.. i think i might actually consider it 👀

Yea! Kinda upsetting that they used a lot of the ui, hope it becomes more unique cause Callipeg was really nuanced for its design

Smart move to make it similar to Procreate, as users of Procreate that would be a key target market for this app. (like quite a few art apps over the past 20 years have similar buttons and layout to Photoshop).

Thanks for introducing us to this app! I’ve been checking out many animation apps and use Moho in my Mac as well as Keynote that allows for fast simple animations. But hadn’t discovered one for the iPad that worked for me. Bought this one and I’m floored by the clean and functional interface, the many options, the combination of traditional animation and key framing, the camera. Hard to believe that 1 person developed it in 2 years! But I’m extremely happy he did!! 🥳 it’s easy to find your way around the app, but yes tutorials would be great. Preferably by setting up a couple of simple projects and taking us by the hand explaining the functions. Thanks again. Highly appreciate your work!

This has vector animation and is cheaper but Callipeg has better audio and timeline handling. I like that you can tap layers directly on the drawing area in this when using the transformation tool, can't do that in Callipeg.

I am deciding on what animation app to get. Callipeg, toon squid, or animation pro. Have used an old version of Moho many years ago. Seems like there are more tutorials for callipeg than the other two apps. Would love to see more tutorials for this app

Thanks for this recommendation - trying to find a way to add sound clips for lip sync in Procreate. But this works good too! Just downloaded and very excited!!!

i might get toonsquid when i can, it sounds way better than flipaclip (animation program im currently using). i mostly do 12fps and this sounds great! its basically procreate but if it was based around animation and didnt suck at animation.

@@StayfDrawshanks so much 🙏, I’ve been at it all morning! It took me a while to figure out how to put together an animation clip that i could then input in as its own symbol. That would be a helpful tutorial on its own ;)

I bought this the other day. It’s very comparable to Callipeg and more feature rich than rough animator, but to be honest Rough animator is so intuitive, I don’t think I will ever not use that app.
Callipeg is nice, but once I start tweening and have many layers the performance drops, bugs creep in and my timeline just looks convoluted.
This app looks like it has a learning curve, and the drawing engine isn’t as nice as Callipeg or procreate. The pressure just isn’t as varied, and I’ve played in the brush settings and couldn’t get it to how I like it.
Does the performance of this app hold up better than that of Callipeg’s? And could you specify more about the pressure? I’m trying to see if I should try this app over Callipeg.

If folks excited, then how about tutorials, lots of them! What we have now are basically videos of functions but no real detailed tutorial of project from start to finish.

Procreate isn’t that pro like it should. The GUI is really bad. ArtStudio Pro is way better without layer limitations and brushes are still on top available if you need it
Is there an app where i can inimate a picture in the ipad? I want to animate an emoji but every app seems that i have to draw to make an animation

How do you import PS Brushes I've tried importing ABR Files and the file is always grayed out
When you have a project open, tab in the brush. Then press on the plus sign in the upper corner. Then tap on import and choose the. Abe brush you have downloaded to the files app on your iPad.

@@TripFontain I now have the same problem. Maybe it is a bug in the new version. The best way to find out is to go to the ToonSquid forum and post your question.

ArtStudio Pro also has animation (simpler that toonsquid tho), dont know why people is only able to compare things to procreate... is the most overrated app on iOS ever... :S

I think the reason behind Procreate’s popularity is its ease of use in combination with many good features for an iPad user, but of course it all depends on your needs and level of expertise.
funny thing is i find procreate way harder and zero intuitive to use unless you read the manual and learn the gesture only tools/hidden tools, meanwhile artstudio has a more robust brush engine and is more like a classic drawing app, whre u can access anything from menus or tie em to gestures/quick menu… but dunno
