A detail about this concert that is easy to miss, Miyako, the guitarist with the long black hair, is several months pregnant. The only concession she made to this during a nearly 2 hour long concert was to wear flat shoes instead of the normal high heels they all wear on stage. She is a tough lady as well as a fabulous musician and all round amazing person (wife, mother, animal lover, Star Wars fan, musician, composer, beautiful and modest)
I'm an old British grey haired baby boomer, in my mid 70's. I fell in love with Lovebites after a recommendation from a friend who said I would probably like them. Yes I do ! My musical taste was formed back in the 60's and 70's, by as well as the big names, Stones, Deep Purple, Sabbath, Led Zep, bands like Hawkwind, Wishbone Ash, Uriah Heep, Jethro Tull and the rest of British bands of the time. I was and remain a huge fan of Canadian band Rush. I regard the concert by Rush at Wembley Arena that I saw in the early 1980's as one of the absolute best concerts I ever went to. For me Lovebites are a distillation of the best of the 70's and 80's British and European metal that I listened to back then, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Metallica etc, with their own polish and spin on it. Influenced by, not copying as some comments I have seen say. I went to see them play in London last week, 14th June, with a ticket upgrade that included a 'meet and greet' with the ladies and a personalised photo op. (I'm a fan boy, despite my advancing years 🤣) Although the venue was not the best, a rather scruffy pub in Lewisham, south London, The ladies were absolute diamonds, rising above the difficulties to play as only they can. Going to see them again on 1st July at what I hope is a better venue.
Thank you for supporting these talented young ladies and spreading the word. A recommendation for a fun song from the same concert as this one. Spellbound. we get to see Miyako demonstrate more of her musical skills and have some fun at the same time.
Regards to you and your family from the UK. Stay safe and well 🐺

It's nice that you introduced your daughter to the Metal Queens. A good introductory song to start off with. For 40 years (1982-2022) Iron Maiden was my favorite band until these talented ladies came along. Not many other bands I know have a collection of talented musicians as this band has and no band I've seen has a guitar duo as good as Midori and Miyako. After discovering Lovebites, I've gone down the rabbit hole of Japanese rock/metal bands with many that are all female and found many great bands.

LOVEBITES - A Frozen Serenade lyrics:
Crystal tears Falling from the skies
    Veiling fears The emptiness inside
    Time is just passing by
Killing me under the soft twilight
    A frozen melody
Of doves and ravens dancing in melancholy
    A distant memory
If only this snow could erase the pain
I'd wake up in a serenade
    One life ends
    And one life begins
    Evanesce
    To our origins
When I'm lost on my way
Lead my heart and guide me with your grace
    A frozen melody
Of doves and ravens dancing in melancholy
    A distant memory
If only this snow could erase the pain
I'd wake up in a serenade
Just like a dream, just like a bird
    I'll keep on singing out
Even if my voice cannot reach you
Seasons may pass, but its beauty will never fade away
All living things are precious and irreplaceable
Just like a dream, just like a bird
    I'll keep on singing out
Even if my voice cannot reach you
White butterflies are fluttering under the silver sky
If only I could wish to see you once more

Thanks for your reaction. The main composer of LOVEBITES is Miyako. She composed approximately 50% of the band's music (as writer and co-writer). Asami is the main poet of the band. She wrote about 70% of the lyrics. Asami also took part (as a co-writer) in the composition of approximately 15% of the music. Miho's participation in composing was (in 2016-2021) approximately 23%. Approximately 24% of the lyrics are Miho.
The different lyrics, different emotional colors in the lyrics of Miho and Asami are easily explained. Miho's father was a metal fan. What kind of lyrics have dominated metal bands since the advent of metal? Miho has heard this music since childhood, she has been passionate about metal for the last 20 years of her life. Before Miho created LOVEBITES, she played in several metal bands (including in a metalcore band).
Asami, until she auditioned for the position of the lead vocalist of LOVEBITES, had no idea what metal was. She grew up in a different environment. She performed other music - R'n'B, Soul, Jazz. When Asami came to the audition and Miho told her that the ladies were looking for a vocalist for a metal band, she asked: “Metal? What is it?”
Miho and Asami were formed as musicians in diametrically opposed environments. Therefore, the emotional coloring of the lyrics is different. Plus, Miho suffered a personal tragedy, which greatly affected her. This also influenced her lyrics and became one of the main reasons for Miho's departure from the band she created.

“became one of the main reasons for Miho’s departure from the band”
I disagree. If we can grant that Miho left because she wanted to be more herself as a musician (I believe she implied something to this effect), it is then to suggest that she couldn’t be herself in Lovebites-this is not a stretch from that position-which would itself suggest that there was a disagreement over direction, while Miho later mentioned how there was too much emphasis being placed on the more technical aspects (which of course gives M & M more of the spolight), while Miho’s bass was actually turned down. Miyako is also more opinionated than Midori, and probably more inclined to clash with Miho’s position on the direction of the band. Not just over taste in the style of music (like thrash) either. In fact, I even think the white “prom dresses” didn’t vibe with Miho’s own image of herself (playing into the part where she couldn’t be herself), while such dresses likely play more to the taste of someone like Asami. I can see Miho being on one side, with Miyako and Asami on the other side (Miyako as behind the scenes leader, Asami as a public leader-type). While both Miyako and Asami utilized the opportunity of Miho leaving to further other things they also care about, like their families.

@@GrayFox14 “Wearing white dresses was Miho's idea!”
I’m suggesting at some point she felt it didn’t fit the image she had of herself. I mean, do you feel that the white prom dresses fit the image Miho had of herself? The point of my speculation here, was an attempt to piece it all together, starting from a statement she made upon leaving the band.
      “compare the dates”
I went over it in the past. It doesn’t even fit her statement for leaving either. I guess we just disagree again. It’s fine, it’s just speculation anyway. Although… I think I’m pretty good at that sort of stuff.

@@GrayFox14 “The leader behind the stage was Miho”
I missed this part^. Let me just say, Miyako is a very gifted person generating her own songs and ideas, while also being the more serious type too, and so I think with potential to clash with others. Can you imagine a person like Miyako letting others take charge? I don’t see it at all. Let me ask you, who do you think is the “leader behind the stage” at this very moment? Let me guess… Miyako?

      @SomethingToDo360 6 місяців тому +1

@@GrayFox14 “If my arguments are not enough for you, you can remain unconvinced.”
It’s more your story, with projection onto her. I’m going more by Miho’s statement when leaving the band (about going in a direction that fits how she can be more herself as a musician), and that she obviously continued her musicianship within other bands. I believe she specifically said she was reconsidering things in regard to herself “as a musician”. She later made known some general disagreement over direction too. Honestly, I think my speculation is more on point; much of your post is just talking about your experience. Miho didn’t leave music, she left Lovebites. Think about it.
“Miho leaving is a huge loss for LOVEBITES! Huge!”
Can’t be a loss since they are doing better now, while unified like never before, and apparently happier too. I think your focus on the past makes you want a less successful future, but I don’t see that happening in the slightest. I predict bigger things are coming soon too. You can almost feel it in the air… knowing full well that the band has a much greater potential for it now.

@@GrayFox14 “A genius has a different mindset, he thinks differently. Often his genius prevents him from becoming a leader.”
From the business side of things, or behind the scenes, the genius makes important decisions.
“If you watch how the ladies communicate off stage, you may notice that Miyako is more of a follower than a leader.”
Being shy in front of the camera, doesn’t mean being less assertive behind it.
“She's more serious than the rest of the ladies (on and off stage). Paradox? Yes!”
In my opinion, Miyako is someone you really don’t want to mess with. I can easily imagine her giving another member a stern look. In fact, I think I remember her doing exactly this even on stage when someone else was in her spot too long. There were people commenting on it too. If you remember the video, remind me of which one it was.
“to seize power and leadership of the band (are you hinting at this?!)”
No. I’m saying that all the band members would’ve had a say, but that Miyako would ultimately end up more influential on the band, songs, and future direction. That both her and Asami will ultimately fill this position nicely. I see them as being the two most influential on the future of the band, and working together on it.

Sorry, but this is not entirely true. Miyako doesn't write lyrics at all. 🤗Except for one song! Miyako took part (as a co-author, along with Asami, Miho, Midori, Haruna) in writing the lyrics only for 'Holy War'.
Mao composed the music (as a writer) for 8 original songs and 1 musical composition of LOVEBITES. To date, LOVEBITES has officially recorded and released 58 songs and original musical compositions. Mao's participation in other songs is limited mainly to helping with song arrangements. Mao does not even take part in the arrangements of the songs for which Miyako wrote the music. Mao also did not take part in the arrangements of the songs for which the music was composed by: Miyako + Asami or Miho + Miyako.🤭

    Hi from France:
    So, small correction.
If indeed Miyako started at the age of 3 as a pianist and subsequently became a concert pianist to finally discover the electric guitar at 18 (or thereabouts), Midori also started with the piano at the age of 3 years old and discovered the guitar at 20. But unlike Miyako, Midori seems to have lost interest in keyboards and now prefers bodybuilding...

Show her Let it Go by Floor Jansen and she won't want to hear the original again.
Also Part of my World (Little Mermaid) by Simone Simons, it's knockout.
