That may be true, but he needs to take a sack on the fumble, he also didnt need to force throw that ended in a pick, when he had a few yards to he could have picked up ahead of him. Think he just needs to settle down and accept his new role. He'll be good after the bye
Why throw 40-50 times when the run game is in fire right now you don't fix it if it ain't broke Chargers haven't had a RB duo like this that I remember anytime the last 10-15 years and haven't had a run game like this since LT

I’m thinking he’ll be back to his regular self in Pittsburgh and if not definitely in the Chiefs game. I’m figuring he’s pretty much two weeks behind right now because of that time missed.
Herbert showed frustration a few times in the game because his guys didn't perform well, most notably when Johnston didn't break off his route during a blitz and Matlock not lining up properly pre-snap. They'll have to get those things cleaned up to compete with the tougher opponents
Plus he didnt play like the last 5 weeks of last season too and having a lot of new pass catchers he is throwing to before he always had one constant with keenan they were always on the same page he is trying to get that chemistry now with QJ and ladd
I think the difference is Herbo usually makes those plays while falling. He still completed 70 percent of his passes. Attempts are another reason why I think he doesn’t seem “as good” right now. Just like a running back..QBs sometimes need more attempts to get into a rhythm. Also, Harbaugh I think explained those two turnovers Herbo had. They definitely have room to improve but I think Herbo looked better than last week and the team just seems together regardless of what’s happening. Bolt Up! Charger Nation for Life!
It's because we lost Keenan, Everett, Ekeler, and Williams. Basically all his targets and replaced with Quentin Johnston and mcconkey.. we will be better when chark is healthy
Herbert’s numbers are a testament to how successful our running game is and I’m okay with that!! I’m sure he’ll start letting loose should the opps start figuring out our run game. Having a passing arsenal to counter the run game is beauty. So far this team reminds of a Marty S led 2006 chargers where Rivers was essentially a game manager and LT did most of the work. I see Herbert in a similar situation in this Harbaugh team.
Also Justin Herbert just needs to get the superman mentality out of his head he carried the team for so long no he has a strong team and needs to just trust the process
Michael - You always do such a great job on your videos. Congrats! BTW , the Falcon’s Kyle Pitts continues to under perform. He’s still only 23 I think the Chargers could pick him cheap. I know you were high on him previously - do you still think he’d be a good fit?
Herbert played well outside of his two uncharacteristic turnovers, those are literally plays we never see from him. Also, he was 14/20 and those completions averaged out to about 9.3 yards per completion and they didn’t need him to throw the ball much cuz the running game was working really well. He’ll be fine but we all need to understand he’s not going to put up those crazy numbers like he did before because he won’t need to every week. Just look at Josh Allen on TNF it was a similar situation where he didn’t need to pass much.
My take away is Herbie is rusty, last time he played was Dec 10 (prior to the raider game). I expect him to get his grove back. Maybe he is so accustomed to be Superman for our squad that he makes odd decisions here and there. That roll up was brutal to watch, hope he is 100% by Sunday. But my real concern is our TEs , they are bad in the passing game. Maybe throw in stone smart and see what he can do because the others are not cutting it. This Steelers game will be a good test for our squad. Great video Michael keep it up

Great vid; too bad about being out of town I'd like to see more, but I guess there's only so much you can analyze when it's against a troubled team like the Panthers.
Those check downs to Ekeler and quick passes to Keenan are what’s missing to the average fan. I think the coaches are advancing the installation of the full system by the week, knowing this is the best way of keeping the guys constantly getting it to apply it. By the time the playoffs come, the system will have been fully functioning and bringing nice benefits.
The NFL is the NFL, all teams are still capable of team all teams. Only allowing one touchdown in two games shows how much Jesse has transformed this defense
I want to see jim talking to john about trying to swing a trade for mark andrews that would be huge for herbert and the offense it would be like a 3rd round pick at max to pull off that kind of a trade
Some thoughts on Herbert: 1. I feel like this system is VERY different from anything that Herbert has played in the past and is still getting acclimated. I don't think Harbaugh is a "let it rip" kind of guy, more of a "take care of the ball" kind of coach. Our boy isn't used to having to second guess every throw, but I think he will find a balance eventually. 2. Even though it looks like McConkey and QJ are stepping up, he really doesn't have those weapons that he's used to. Keenan and Mike were an amazing duo at WR, and don't forget he used to have Ekeler who caught a ton of balls. Not that Herbert isn't great, but these kinds of players will make you look better. 3. How awesome is that? Our biggest issue with the offense in week 2 is Herbo. The one guy we aren't concerned about at all. AT ALL. He missed time with his new offensive weapons in training camp. He's adjusting to yet another new offense and offensive coordinator, and the team is 2 - 0. Offenses typically take extra time to gel. But man, that run game and defense are killing it. This ain't yer same old Chargers. One more thing. Think of the things that went wrong. Herbo's interception, Dicker missing a PAT...and still the Bolts dominated. There was never a chance Carolina was going to do anything. Take the easy wins and appreciate them cuz there will be hard losses. Very happy
I think they should run Herbert 2-3 times a game. It’ll slow down the pass rush a bit and open up moving the pocket to help them throw the ball down field.
I just feel like we are judging Herb harshly because we have literally never seen him with a legit run game. Like it’s the first two games literally where we can run the ball. Idk, I just don’t feel like he played bad at all expect that he indeed made a very bad judgment throw on that INT, granted and bad fumble. Like his pass rating is 95. Probably still some rust, and I think we have come to expect seeing Herbert perform miracles, which will happen only once or twice this year since it’s not needed anymore
Herbert is just forcing plays for no reason and causing turnovers. It’s like he’s frustrated about being a game manager. He is on pace for career lows.
Justin hasn’t played much in a while. He missed much of the last half of last season and he’s on his fourth new OC and learning a new scheme and the team has a new coach and a new philosophy. He’s fine. He’ll adjust. His instincts are that he has to be Superman because that’s how we’ve always used him. He’ll be fine.
Idk if it was under thrown i feel like herbert did that on purpose, we all know QJ is a good player but we worry bout those hands. I wouldnt call this a bad start by herb whatso ever. Just cause he isnt launching bombs every other play and doesnt have bookoo yards, doesnt mean he isnt playing well. This is a different style of play. Its also just now week 3. Chill.
Herbs will throw a Interception when his receivers run wrong routes.. If you've been watching him for a while you could be able to notice that... It's like him saying hey you should be here and i'm throwing it here..stick to the route.. And I also feel like you threw that interception on purpose to get it out of a way against a team. That's not gonna beat him... So now he doesn't have the pressure of throwing his first interception during a game. That matters if that makes sense... And I also think watching the game. The coaching staff held back as respect to Carolina.Cause we could have beat them way worse than what we did...save the energy for terrible towl people. The burgh
Herbert will be fine he is still getti g use to 1 not actually having a legit #1 wr in keenan allen and 2 he is not use to not having to be superman and put the whe team on his back he is not use too being just a game manager thats all that is needed from this style of offense and having real coaching and a real defense and a real run game this is all really new to him he is not use to having help from that many areas he only has 20-30 attempts compared to having 40-50 pass8ng attempts a game he just needs to make the passes that is needed look hpw dominate of these two wins were and he threw for 145 and 125 yards thats crazy thats what happens when you have a good to great running game a good to great defense also having good to great coaching from greg roman and harbaugh with offense a adjustments to what may noy be working to jeese minter being a great defensive cordinator and as always ficken being a great special teams coach everything around herbert is complimentary and he is not use to that at all in some of his drop backs you can see him going back to thinking staley was still his coach and thinking he has to be the entire offense and throw for 350 yards because the run game is not there and the defense being swiss cheese he needs to be smarter about not trying to do too much just throw the ball away or run for a few yards we need him for the whole season
I hate the fact that when they run Gus he gets stuffed majority of the time. Maybe cus he’s a north and south type back and only knows how to run into a pile or maybe he needs to treat the Oline with some nice gifts lol??

@@dakotahattoe6821 thx for defending me. a man can't have an imaginary wife in peace nowadays
If you really think about it. He hasn't had a snap since his thumb injury last season. Hes rusty
Let’s see what happens after the next two games if their legit
The burgh
WHOSSS GOT IT BETTER THAN US
Herbert will be fine he is still getti g use to 1 not actually having a legit #1 wr in keenan allen and 2 he is not use to not having to be superman and put the whe team on his back he is not use too being just a game manager thats all that is needed from this style of offense and having real coaching and a real defense and a real run game this is all really new to him he is not use to having help from that many areas he only has 20-30 attempts compared to having 40-50 pass8ng attempts a game he just needs to make the passes that is needed look hpw dominate of these two wins were and he threw for 145 and 125 yards thats crazy thats what happens when you have a good to great running game a good to great defense also having good to great coaching from greg roman and harbaugh with offense a adjustments to what may noy be working to jeese minter being a great defensive cordinator and as always ficken being a great special teams coach everything around herbert is complimentary and he is not use to that at all in some of his drop backs you can see him going back to thinking staley was still his coach and thinking he has to be the entire offense and throw for 350 yards because the run game is not there and the defense being swiss cheese he needs to be smarter about not trying to do too much just throw the ball away or run for a few yards we need him for the whole season
The Real Statement will be if our Bolts beat Steelers an Chiefs start 4-0 an then upgrade this Roster too get too the promise land ⚡⚡⚡⚡
I hate the fact that when they run Gus he gets stuffed majority of the time. Maybe cus he’s a north and south type back and only knows how to run into a pile or maybe he needs to treat the Oline with some nice gifts lol??
If Gus slamming into the dline for a couple yds opens big holes for JK to run through then he is doing a great job imo.
Im glad about the win just like any other fan, but "making a statement" is a biiiit of a stretch against the worst team in the league rn dude... lmao.
The Panthers are one of the worst teams in the NFL, not sure what our "statement" was. Herbert was abused, not we are looking for. I give the outing a C grade but yeah yeah a win is a win as long as injuries don't hurt us going forward.
