    Fun fact for you, the C7 actually has a slight rear weight bias, thanks to its transaxle layout and surprisingly light engine. As for the gears, it wouldn't surprise me if 4th was that long to help with the 1/4 mile time, though it seems more likely that it's just as short as they could make it while keeping the drop to 5th manageable. With the C6, you hit top speed in 5th, so it might be the same here, just with an extra overdrive gear in between.

    "We can brake tomorrow and the car will stop yesterday." Impressive!
    I worked for a company that build automated factory equipment. I still remember the gauge cluster programming and test station we built that would watch 40 or 50 at a time to ensure the screens had no dead pixels or other faults. Just before shipping we got the final software for the gauges. When that Corvette logo appeared for the first time, we were all very surprised! We went on to make a bunch of machines for different parts of the interior, hood, the grille, etc. It was usually kinda hard to tell what vehicle stuff was for because there are so many supplier companies...except Ford. You always knew a Ford because there would be design changes every other week and then it was a mad dash to get the machines installed at the factory. Stuff for the Transit vans were in a state of build, scrap and remachine parts for a new design and repeat for 3 years. For the S550 mustang, they had to send workers to run production on our assembly floor to complete press and car show vehicles and for the Fiesta, one of our project managers wound up running the machine to assemble a bunch of bumpers which I, the purchasing, shipping and receiving agent, had to drive 8.5 hours to Canada to run some cars! 😂😂

    Best Vette ever IMO, the C7.... this one is perfect, great color combination, great supporting mods.... just needs a shorter final drive gearing (at least a 3.90 if not 4.10 compared to the stock, if Z51 package equipped, 3.42 with manual) and definitely a higher lift and duration camshaft....its so easy to gain an easy 100hp and shift the powerband up 1k RPM with a decent cam(and then a remap to lift the rev limiter higher to make use of the cam, could also grab a Fast intake and 103mm throttle body to round it out), hopefully these two are on his list for next upgrades.... awesome Vette otherwise 👌

Not really a sports car but I have an express van 5.3 and there’s so little torque in third gear it loses speed while towing up a gentle hill at highway speeds and requires a downshift to second. weird choices for vehicles where power delivery is desired/needed.

    Well, I am soon to get a Z51 C7 manual for track tool. this video was good to show the TC off, Track mode, is not that hard to control. Some testers in the states say that it is worrisome and can get better times from Sport 2 but on Cup2 maybe the stick is so much better than with stock tires. I just saw one guy on PS4S complaining about controllability but those tires are not for the track they are flat out dangerous. I plan Ferodo DS1.1 pads and DBA front rotors, and new fluid the first track day. I may get new tires and wheels by then but they won't be Cup 2 like. I am excited to experience the 460HP/465lb-ft Tq. The gearing complaints! but, the torque curve is so flat. I do agree tho 4th being 1:1 and the rest overdrives it's a bit strange, they probably should have made 5th 1:1. The gear spread is about .7 drop as you go up even to 5th.

    The only thing I don't like about the C7 is that manual models still have the steering wheel paddles, instead of shifting they turn off/on the auto-rev matching function. Typical way GM finds a way to save costs.

      @@gpaje Either way the cost increases, Its a couple hundred bucks to buy a new wheel but millions to develop. Plus why do you care if people think you drive an auto?

      @spork8721 Maybe, who knows the actual costs, there are kits to remove it, It bothers me because I'm weird that way. Can't I have illogical views and faults? There are whole forum threads that discuss this, not just me.

    That lap would be a lot faster with the A8 transmission, even it is way inferior to the current C8 DCT. I noticed many missed shifts if you count the gearing guessing too. And no need to say it’s Misha in his home turf.
    I have had a C6 Z06 for many years and I loved it dearly. But on track days and top speed competition the manual transmission was always a concern. From 2nd to 3rd you even have to study and learn how to shift properly. Besides that at one day coming back home driving it after a weekend of track day, I found myself in the middle of a car jam, at night and raining heavily. The situation and the manual trans were hard on me. Then a trade in the Z06 for a PDK 911. Never looked back. But I’ll have a Vette again…with the auto transmission. I love to use the paddle shifters and with perfect and faster gear changes, better fuel economy and launch control it’s a no brainer for me. I’d rather get my kicks on going faster than having fun with missed shifts. Oh! If I had a C1/C2 or C3 Vettes I would get the manual. It’s a classic transmission for a classic car. That’s the perfect match.

    Geez 7th is geared for over 500 km/h! Bolt some turbos to it and take it to the Bonneville salt flats! Must be so good at high speed cruising on the autobahn. At 250 km/h and it's just chilling at 3100 rpm. I bet a 4.11 or even shorter rear end would turn this thing into a real animal.

    Genuine question: do people have to sign a waiver with you before you drive their cars?

  • @JC7119
    @JC7119 Рік тому

    So explanation about the gearing issue that shouldn't be an issue, but GM made it an issue...The transmission that is in the C7 is very similar to the C6 I'm gonna talk about the 2 transmission options that are in the C5/C6. The ratio's used in the C7 are the same ratio's as the MN12 which is a short 1-3 with an unequal spacing from 3 to 4 with a shorter 5-6 OD compared to the MN6. The better transmission actually came from the base C5/C6 which was the MN6 which had longer gears but much more evenly spaced. Now the trick is the MN12 seems faster because it's ratio with the 3.42 rear is basically MN6 with 3.73's, however when you do a final drive from the factory 3.42 to say a 3.9 on an MN6, the cruising RPM in 6th is the same between the 2 transmissions and the long gear transmission with the final drive is actually the best transmission for the C5/C6 platform from a gearing stand point because 1-4 are a short ratio with a 5-6 overdrive. FYI Tremec themselves does make this gear set available so the swap is possible even if Chevy didn't do it any OEM applications. Apologies if this was a bit to technical, but the gearing issue is actually extremely solvable. I had a C5 with a 3.9 rear gear and it was something special.
