Great idea, start out with something fairly lighthearted like Hereditary. If this is too much maybe lighten it up a little more with something like The Exorcist!
Exactly, just eeeease her on into the genre, nice and easygoing. :)
Then Alien?
Followed by The Thing....maybe.
So lighthearted, makes you wanna go, CLUCK
Exorcist is a slap on the wrist compared to Hereditary
Oh good LORD, what a movie to use as a FIRST (?!) horror film! The movie that even big horror fans found overwhelming? XD
I totally shouldn't have trust Thor pick, he totally deceived me!!!
Loki in Disguise 🥸?
@@robinschicha4712 Thor is def Loki in disguise in this one
@@domie The two of you should definitely watch John Carpenter's "The Thing" classic horror at its best. Great reaction btw.
I’m a big horror fan boy and as far as this movie goes I think it’s fucking incredible
OMG!!! She asked, “I wonder if that has anything to do with the plot. Like they’re puppets or something” and I actually think that’s the most accurate assessment of that opening shot cause yeah… they were pretty much puppets 🤯
Also, there’s that moment when she’s telling Peter that she didn’t want to have him, right when they are catching on fire that she says, crying: I was trying to save you 😭!
Like Annie always knew her mother had plans for Peter.
4:27
No kidding!
i’m shol like she would be great at the horror genre, so observant!
Yeah Annie definitely wasn’t as crazy as everyone treated her.
Hereditary as your first reaction? That's like having an entire Carvel cake as an appetizer. 😄
The mother said her brother had schizophrenia because he always said that the grandma kept trying to put someone into him. I assumed they were hinting he was supposed to be the original demon host.
I'm portuguese and was not expecting to hear my language at 26:25 😂😂A plot twist on its own
She called it from the very first scene when she asked if the doll house establishing shot was implying that the people were all puppets. That's exactly the point.
“Why does she keep eating chocolate Infront of dead things?” 😂😂😂😂 I’ve seen this movie several times and never clocked onto that lmfaoooooo
The scene of the paint falling, if you look close you can see it fell all by itself, the hand of the mom its close but doesnt touch It, a "force" makes the paint fall on Jhoans card. This movie its really rewatchable, you find all kind of sick details that hints you all the plot from the very first scene
Yeah I didn’t notice that until the second time I watched it. Her hand was like four inches away.
“She’s gonna jaywalk too?” *shakes head, disappointed* “Unbelievable.” 😂😂😂
This pleases us greatly. Advise your friend to wear more 5 pointed stars, we will reach her, eventually.
The dog died and was left in the yard at the end of the move. It was shown after the brother became fully possessed
People robbed of awards for this movie: Toni Collette, Alex Wolff, and Ari Aster.
Oh we definitely need a Midsommer reaction now with both of you, it'll be so much fun to see your reactions.
We did it :) ua-cam.com/video/iDbPHk9Yz68/v-deo.html
@@domie Yes!
MIdsommar was not a good movie lol. A good first act and then nothing but predictable cliches after.
ELA É BRASILEIRA, ela soltou um "CARALHO, PUTA QUE PARIU!" I LOVE IT
the Brazilian energy of millions haha
Me pegou de surpresa DEMAIS! kkkkkkkkkk
"OI?"
THE TITLE HAHA… Big mistake indeed 😂
Cluck
Toni Collette is amazing. She says she doesn’t like scary movies much but she’s starred, so far, in two horror masterpieces: The Sixth Sense and Hereditary. Magnificent actress.
I am so pissed Toni Collette didn't get an Oscar for her performance here.
Toni Collette is such an amazing actress her being hysterical over charlie was sooooo freakin good really put me in my feelings
I'm a total horror hound and she sussed out a lot more of the plot than I did on first viewing. Kudos!
You gotta get her to watch The Exorcist!
Oh wow thank you! :) But hey THE EXORCIST? Are you trying to KILL ME?
@@domie We're enjoying the schadenfreude. 😈
This was my first horror movie too!! My mom sheltered me till i was in my late teens, so when hereditary came out and my friend invited me to go, we were clinging onto each other in fear. Best way to watch it was in theaters, you cant pause it
I love that she calls you out for your closet door! 😄😄😄
I mean... she's right haha
he is so me just being in awe of the cinematography
omg mystery solved, I was always shocked that you were able to watch horror movies with the door open, BUT YOU DO IT ON PURPOSE YOU MENACE lol
So good Domi was delightful! I love how genuine she is!
Aww thank you so much, this made my day ☺️
@@domie That makes me happy :) I also really enjoyed your Buffy season 1 collab with Thor but I think because you were trying not to give away spoilers we didn't get to see as much of your shiny personality as this one so that was really great. I hope you guys do more together
Watching Hereditary for your first horror film is like saying I like I want to read fantasy novels and decides to read the Silmarillion first.
Way to jump in the deep end! haha
What a start! I love horror but this one is "special"😆
My goodness if this was the beginning of my love of horror i dont know if i would have ever become the huge fan that i am now this actually creeped me out at times dam crazy ass shit
"She's gonna jaywalk too? Unbelievable." 🤣🤣
The light or demon knocked over the paint lol. Awesome reaction. Love how she's the biggest horror movie fan but this is the second movie she's fully watched lol. Lobe the analysis afterwards. Always love the closet being slightly open lol. Everything in this movie I love. I always do the clunking when I'm watching it lol
So many things are lost if you don't watch this movie in darkness. Didn't look like Domi saw the dark silhouette of the grandmother, for example. But I am glad she immediately guessed Joan's intentions ;p
Just hearing you shout out Portuguese made me laugh at one of the creepiest scenes
This movie traumatized me! I watched it at like 2 am by myself, not a smart choice!
OMG Domi, yes. Thor shut that freaking door 😫
AI CARALHO! PUTA QUE PARIU! hahaha
Also, have you guys watched the Witch? It is a really interesting horror movie from Robert Eggers. It is "slow burning" narrative with not a lot of jump scares but the acting and the horror is really great.
GREAT movie!!!
40:45 if you watch the scene carefully, she never even touched the bottle of paint.
“Because of the Grandma-bitch!”
I was under the impression that the Grandmother was the "big bad" of the movie. The mother says in therapy that her brother thought the grandma was trying to put people inside him and they thought he was crazy
And I thought Joan was her mother's "spirit" or whatever. Maybe I read that wrong and the grandma was just a part of the cult, not the leader
8:16 She sounded like she got HIT by that bird. 😂
Oh, and the "bent-neck lady" movie (The Haunting of Hill House) was really good.
Wonder how she knew about her.
This is a great way to ease into your first horror movie experience.
Thor…you’re evil for choosing this one as the first.
You should have told her early on this was a family drama, she was expecting creepy happenings the whole movie, haha
For the most part, I pretty much found the dad sympathetic too; but Domi's early takes are so sharp, it makes me want to re-think that position....
OMG - I may not have become a horror movie fan if this had been my introduction to the genre! Yikes
She was frightened because of Thor. That was hilarious! 😂
This movie is top 3 or 2 most impactful horror movies of all time - I've been watching horror since I was 13, only 4 or 5 have ever gotten under my skin, one them being 'Martyrs' (the original) and another of course being Hereditary. Hereditary is the only horror movie to ever *force me* to tears from an overload of emotions like a young child.
What’s funny about this movie is the lighting, because depending on your tv/picture settings you either see some things or you don’t. Like the grandma at 8 minutes or the mom in the corner of peters bedroom at the end when he wakes up.
Sinister is another family friendly, light-hearted rom-com with a few small jump scares here and there.
Came from the other video of Midsommar, love you guys together!!!
19:35 At this point it was more a trauma response. He was getting high when Charlie died so he had a panic attack and felt like his throat was closing, just like hers did. The two are just linked in his mind.
LOL, it's ok Thor I never close my closet door either...
This was a great reaction. 😂 Domi is absolutely hilarious and really was onto a lot of plots in the movie.
Also, your face, as someone who has seen the film, is fucking hilarious
Watched the movie before and I really enjoyed both of your reactions during the whole thing and also your thoughts afterwards. Was fun! :'D
For a lighter Toni Colette flick, and to show her range, please watch Muriel's Wedding.
Everyday I search up "Hereditary reaction" and everyday there is a new video out on UA-cam of people reacting to this movie imao. I'm crazy and bored enough to watch them all
Joan is like where’s waldo , you look around and there she is.
Fun fact- the dinner scene when the mom says “you always have that f@cking face on your face” to the son
And than the scene where he is in the class and his reflection is smiling at him
Cool little connection that maybe the evil was making the mother see the reflection aspect of her son which was maniacally smiling
Thats a creepy thing to think of that through the mothers eyes she seen the son smiling at the situation of the sisters death
How's that a fact? It seems like you're speculating.
I recommend The Babadook if you want a really intelligent horror movie for you two to react to
kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk na hora do susto virou BR grata surpresa !!!!! até ai eu não tinha sequer desconfiado kkkkkkkkkk
Great reaction. A little nugget: when that little bottle of light blue paint fell over, it did so without being touched. And it just happened to spill on Joanniie's phone number. Watch the scene again, it's a very telling detaill. Gratitude.
4:27, and 20:07
Domi is incredibly perceptive!
Rig up some fishing line or something to your door and scare your friends during scary recordings by moving the door.
AI CARALHO, PUTA QUE PARIU HAHAHAHAHAHHAHA
Por essa eu não esperava. Cheers from Brazil.
Great reaction!
Let's threw more horror movies at her 😃😄🤣
The poker face on Thor! 😂
Wow, thought you were American! I was completely fooled before that native language outburst at 26:25. lol
Well, her nationality is American while her ethnicity is Portuguese or Brazilian. Nationality and ethnicity are two different things.
@@Saranda4787 I just thought she was American born since I detected no accent. So when that outburst occurred, it really threw me off. lol
Bright side....she'll now be able to watch any horror movie like a champ!!
When she said AI CARALHO PUTA QUE PARIU I lost everything, I'm Brazilian and I wasn't expecting this Portuguese haha
Oh she's brazilian. ❤
I loved y’all’s reaction! I can’t believe she watched this film first.😂 For me, this is true horror. It’s the only film as an adult to unnerve me, and I’ve watched it all my life. The secrets people keep, especially in a family…. Horrifying! Ari Aster is the new master of dread, and I just think he’s the best. 🙌
She NEEDS to see ’ lights out ‘ !
I didn't know you were Brazilian until the tongue clicking scene in the car, haha
anything can happen in a group effort, u can even conjure a king of hell :D
7:46 she never actually saw her LOL
Next time you guys collab on a scary movie, you should rig up that door behind you to slowly open and close to see if Domi notices.
This is her first horror movie. THIS!?!? As a quote to Bender "are you familiar with the phrase does not compute?"
Domi is the first person I've ever seen who picks Joan out as evil from the get-go. Everyone else thinks she's so nice at first.
Nick loves it. :)
Charlie wasn’t really possessed in the traditional sense. The grandmother influenced her development as an infant to expose her to Paimon's spirit, allowing him to possess her. However, it was early enough that Charlie might as well have been an incarnation of Paimon rather than a separate individual that Paimon was controlling. So her calling Charlie a "demon child" is true through and through.
See, I told you that door open is creepy!!!
this is the only horror movie i know of where all the horror happens at the end
I love how native language comes out under true fear 🤣
"Oh my God, she's Satan!"
Paimon: Not quite.
A perfect horror movie!
You can make up for this psychologic horror by watching either "Tucker and Dale VS Evil" for one that makes fun of horror films, or a very creative one: "Cabin in the Woods"
OMG I loved this reaction haishaohh Such a mood!
This movie is a weird mess of horror stuff but amazing at the same time
You know someone got truly scared when they cus in a different language 🤣🤣🤣🤣
27:53 - Says the girl wearing "pentagram" earrings. 😆
Sounds like you need to do a lot of research.
Notice how Thor’s facial expressions don’t change AT ALL when Charlie gets decapitated.
he had already seen the movie
Wait wtf is domi Brazilian??? I was watching the video normally and she just “AI CARALHO PUTA QUE PARIU ” I really didn't expect that KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK
Pra mim a parte mais chocante do react foi aos 26:25. Não estava esperando por isso. 😮
Plotwist do c@ralho kkkkkkkkk
Watching this with someone and having them not care or empathize with Toni Collette screaming on the ground saying “I just want to die” in the most realistic portrayal of traumatic grief ever put to film, is a good tip off that they’re a sociopathic weirdo and you shouldn’t hang around them again.
PLEASE react to Midsommar
We did, it's on Domi's here: ua-cam.com/video/iDbPHk9Yz68/v-deo.html
You guys did a good reaction! Definitely react to The witch 2015
Oh my, you could use a TV with better contrast and black levels. Feels like you missed half the background scares. 🤣
Awesome reaction you two 😂 This is a great film but admittedly not for first timers haha.
After seeing this movie like 5 times I don't actually believe their "fate" was entirely set or inescapable. Even though the movie itself suggests that that's the case, occultic studies encompass and incorporate so much more than just evil agendas and demonic deities. It can't be as black and white as "Damn they're being targeted for possession, R.I.P." like the movie wants us to think hahaha. The ONLY advantage that Joan, their grandma and the cult had over them was that they were versed in the occultic arts. That's it. With all the domestic affairs and trials that this poor family were going through, they became optimally vulnerable to occultic attack- and that's not even to mention the fact that the cult had been practicing and dabbling and planning and coordinating and orchestrating since before Peter's birth. Remember Annie said her brother killed himself when he was 17 because "My mom is trying to put people inside of me" 👀 Grandma's next choice as a prime host for Paimon would have been Peter, but Annie mentions that she was estranged from her mom at the time of his birth. Since Charlie was the next best thing and was successfully used as a temporary host, this explains grandma's close relationship with her/him (Charlie says her grandma told her that she wanted her to be a boy and Annie even made a miniature model of grandma trying to breastfeed baby Paimon herself).
Maybe this particular family in this particular scenario were in an inescapable dance with fate in the sense that they're ignorant of the occultic practices necessary to counter the attacks by the forces working against them. This is a perfect example of what it means for knowledge to be power. If the family were in a position or mindset to consider or accept that they were indeed victims of paranormal activity, that knowledge alone could have saved them. Theoretically they could have gained a sense of understanding and unity in their experiences together, and the outcome could have been much more in their favor.
Also, Charlie's death was not an accident. You can see on their way to the party when the camera lands on the light pole at the scene of the accident, Paimon's sigil is engraved. You can also see that the animal that was placed on the road (it wasn't there when they drove on that road earlier) was a ram, which is the animal that inspired the baphomet and other demonic/underworldly deities.
Lastly, if you pay extra close attention, you can actually see the blue light (which is used to personify Paimon's presence and influence) knock Annie's paint over onto Joan's little paper. I didn't notice it until the 3rd or 4th time I saw the movie but it is definitely there, so the bad luck and set fate theory of the movie doesn't stand on this point.
Thanks so much for this reaction, I can talk about the paranormal and occultism FOREVER so this was right up my alley 😂❤ Endless love and support to you from SATX
Wow, when the Portuguese came out 😂
So when are you showing her terrifier
If you love Toni Collette's acting you should check out a show that she starred in called the United States of Tara. She plays a woman with multiple personalities. One being a guy called Buck. I love Buck.
Can u tell Toni Collette is Australian? Is the American accent convincing?
@@gunlean7738 funny a lot of people don’t know that!
She became pretty well known for ‘Muriel’s Wedding’ which was a sleeper hit in Australia and surprisingly overseas, and then she did ‘The Sixth Sense’.
