Options really are a wonderful thing, to have the upside potential without the massive unknown downside risk is great. And to be able to profit and/or guarantee a stake in the stock without the inherent risks of full exposure is quite incredible.
Really is!...if you're UK based I have some tutorials on my channel for options trading
I've got to say that when I opened the video I wouldn't give you any chance. Then I kept on watching and it was really informative. Thanks!
I appreciate that!
Trading is indeed lucrative, but before trading, most traders need to work out how much risk they're prepared to take on both for individual trades and the trading strategy as a whole.
I tried day trading, and it didn’t work out as expected.
Day trading tends to suit attentive individuals capable of managing the stress of intense risk-taking activity.
I staked thousands of dollars trading Forex and also crypto hoping it’ll yield more profits but ended up running at a loss,I blamed it on my greed since I didn’t take out profits on time.
@@kelvinjohnson3906 Entering and exiting a trade at the right moment is important, trading eventually pays off. I couldn’t make up to a $3000 profit in two years, up until 2019 when my account manager Frost Hilda earned me my first hundred thousand dollars trade profit with the right trading setup.
These traders sure make it look easy
Thanks for the video. And what if you want to sell a call (covered), does it recognize your underlying position?
7:04 which strike price doyou need to pick closer to out of the money or as far off out of the money?
Extremely informative thank you.
Do you know if you can now use call/put options on Degiro for US stocks?
I have a few questions at certain times of this video: 5:10 if you want an option you choose the call position? And if you own one you can sell via the put section? Or can you also put if you don't have a call first?
Do you know a broker we can use in Europa to buy leap options on NIO or Xpeng for example that trade on the NSY?
Thanks mate. this was the clearest explanation of call options and I needed it. I have been watching people making stupid profits on shares I am simply buying and selling for much less profit than they make with less risk on options.
Followed
Glad it helped
almost a year later and we still can not trade big companies like Tesla or Apple. If this will to come soon it will be a reason to change my broker
True and it doesn’t look like it’s happening anytime soon. Have you tried trading warrants though? these are available for Tesla, Apple etc 👍
Is it available now
Are there options available for SP500 indices?
Hi, do you know if DE GIRO still DOES not allow option trading for US companies?
Still doesn’t
I have a question.
I come that at the end of the Day at 10pm i see what my gains are for the day, then till 12pm i see all sorts of changes mostly changes tonthe down trent which make me end up less than it was at 10pm.
Is this due to corrections from short sellers ? I changed my account from basic to active, but according to degiro With every account stocks are lendout except with a custody account which has other transaction feas.
Two questions:
- so your potential loss would only be €4 for buying 1 contract of shares priced at €49 if it did not activate within the day?
- what would your potential win be?
- what does the CHF 0.08 mean near the top of the trading page?
Thanks

I can't think of a more innovative way to earn from the financial market other than having professional guidance through and through. You'll be surprised at how far one can go with some help.
Got any recommendations? I've blown my accounts severally trying to trade by myself, i think its time i put pride aside and seek help.
@@prestontrudeau2439 I would recommend my personal investment manager. His name is Leonard Bracher, you can look him up.
well said! That's by far the best way to avoid losses as a newbie.
@@arnoldlombardi I found his webpage, quite impressive. I've seen his recommendations on the news here in Sweden, what exactly does Mr. Bracher do for you, does he sell you signals or tell you what assets to buy?
@@prestontrudeau2439
No he doesn't sell me signals. He simply handles trading on my behalf and charges a 15% commission on all profit. All I have to do is provide capital, and he handle the rest so that I earn passively from the market. I think this approach to earning is the best to mitigate risk.
Thank you ! It’s very straight forward and informative 👍
Great explanation! You defiantly need to know what your doing with options! But this was a very cool explanation! Keep it up 👊🏼💯
Thanks, Ive been watching some of your videos. Keep up the good work 👌
And you defiantly need to learn how to spell definitely, like approx. 90% of English natives... what an amazing phenomenon... xD
@@markorekic3624 Next time, learn how to spell 'approximately' fully. See what I did there? It's silly to correct someone's spelling on UA-cam when you're too lazy to complete your spelling. Sometimes looking away doesn't hurt. Jeez!!🙄

What happens when a contract in the money expires? Can I do nothing and still receive the profit automatically or do I need to actually sell the option before the expiry to realise the profit? Thanks for the video, very helpful
To realise a profit you have to actually sell it before expiry, for it's price/value at that time, once expiry is reached, and you do nothing, it is worthless, and you simply lose the premium/price you paid for it.
Most options you buy will be European options meaning you can only buy/sell the underlying asset on the expiry date and if you don't, you lose your option right and thus your gains, if any
You must sell it before expiration. If contract expires, it expires worthless.

Correct on both parts. I also wanted to trade options on US companies but haven’t found a platform yet.
@@trader_uk1446 "Yes US options are now available" According to DeGiro, does it mean we can finally trade with US options?
No, they have always had that in FAQs. I think they are referring to US style options which is the type of contract. Either that or they say it because you can trade index options which include S&P500 etc but as for trading options contracts for Google, Amazon, Tesla etc it's not available

do you know what the best stocks on degiro are for trading options that might have good volatility? I went on today to look and im really not familiar with the european index's. can you just find any stock that is on the LSE or in Europe?
Great content! Can you make an updated version now that DeGiro allows trades on US options?
I’ve seen a few people say this but I’m not sure where they are getting this information from? if it’s from the post on the degiro FAQs page i wouldn’t say it’s very helpful. Most people want to trade Facebook, Tesla, Apple options etc and these are not available on Degiro as far as I can see.
@DMCM6 Can't find it, would you mind helping me out cuz I want to try and trade options on specific companies
Im also interested in leap options on the NSY like nio and xpeng but I don’t see them on DEGIRO?
Super! Crystal Clear explanation!
Could you please explain with real time examples in DEGIRO,
How to execute a call option after the expiry date if the price is in the money?
and
How to execute to sell the call option before the expiry date if the likelihood of the contract bid price increases ?

does degiro by any chance offer XUKX or ISF (or some other FTSE100 ETF) options?
(I have been surprised how few platforms do options for FTSE100 etfs)
Yes to XUKX. I just checked
Thanks for the video! If a sold put gets assigned, do you have to pay an assignment fee only or the stock transaction fee too? DeGiro has quite high fees if you just buy stocks.
Thank you, Do you offer compound interest for 5 years, please?
Thank you for this great video. Do you know where to find information about the options volume ( such as Eurex ) but for the UK market?
Question: DEGIRO options aren’t CFD’s like in Plus500, right? So actually get to own the option?
As far as I’m aware it’s not CFD.

Sorry for the off-topic. But I have 2 questions Degiro-related, and selling order that I could not seen answered in your Degiro videos.
Suppose I bought a share at 10$.
Question 1- I want to sell it automatically when the share price reaches 12 $.
> do I need to configure a Sell Limit order with a price of 12$ ? I am asking because how does the system know that 12$ is in case of price increase?
Question 2- at the same time, I want to sell automatically if the price drops down to 10$ > same question : is it a Sell Limit order with price set to 10$? Again, how does the system know that this time my order relates to a price drop?
Question 3- can the 2 orders be active at the same time / running in parallel, I.e. with order duration = GTC ?
Thanks a buy in advance for your replies because I am quite confused at the moment 🙂
Greetings from Brussels 👍
What if the contract exprires in the money? Do you have to execute it?
Thank you for the introduction. Question for you, in case you go short, will the initial margin be displayed before entering the order?
Yes if you're buying a PUT contract you'll know the total cost of the trade beforehand
Can you sell the contract before the expiration date?
Yes you can 👍
@@trader_uk1446 thanks, I read somewhere you had to wait till the expiration date in Europe, but in USA you could close out early.
@@Tomherbs Oh I see. That refers to the style of options contract involved. American style options can be exercised anytime before the expiry date wheras European style options can only be exercised on the agreed date. Just note that as investors we usually don't exercise options. We trade the contracts on the open market which is different
@@trader_uk1446 thanks

Another great video Adam and thanks for explaining about Options. As a user of Degiro, do you know what the Flatex takeover will mean for Degiro and are you worried about the consequences of Brexit for investors in the UK? Thanks
I actually didn’t know about the flatex takeover but I’ll read more into it now. You would hope that the shared practices will see the app develop and expand at speed. It also means Degiro users can now invest in their platform as I don’t believe they were listed before. As for brexit - I’ve been slowly realising some gains over the past few weeks and holding more cash. I will continue this to reduce my expose. Not specifically because of brexit but my general opinion on the market.
It will be very interesting to see how Degiro's platform develops after the takeover. For one thing, Degiro's use of Flatex's banking licence should make it more secure and I think that I am right in believing that Flatex offers €100,000 cover as oppose to Degiro's €20,000. One concern that I had surrounding Brexit, was Degiro's use of a 'passport' to operate in the UK. I would imagine that after the takeover, the Flatex/Degiro merger will see them become the largest brokerage firm in Europe, which should give them the ability to gain a greater foothold in the UK. I haven't heard anything directly from Degiro about this yet, but I am looking forward to the future developments.
@@NotAnotherBonsaiChannel I’ve just had an email recently from robinhood who have cancelled their launch in the UK so I would expect Degiro/Flatex to really take control of the market.
@@trader_uk1446 I would think the same. There's some good news on the takeover, Dutch regulators have now given permission and the takeover is expected to be completed as of 1st August. We should hear from Degiro soon, as client's cash funds are to be moved over to Flatex's bank by the end of Q3.
It does appear that a lot of intense pressure is now on the 0% commission brokers right now, who are potentially making investing too easy and simple.
@@trader_uk1446 I have just received an email from Degiro about the takeover, which raised some interesting points. "This partnership may lead to an even wider range of product offerings for you as a client." Which sounds very promising and, as you mentioned before, it will be interesting to see how they futher develop the Degiro platform. Also "We will send you a personal invitation to complete the opening of your personal flatex bank account. This account will then be connected to your trading account at DEGIRO." This should solve the issues that they have had with putting client's money into the MMF. I read recently that back in 2018, they were fined a considerable sum by the AFM.

My step-son passed away in October 2021; since then, we have been trying in vain, to close his account with DeGiro.
