if u use the bandit mutator u can get back a lot of ammo back to the weapon because every time the disk or "blade" hits an enemie the mutator has a chance to activate.

Just FYI the area with the override pin isn't necessarily in the first half. I have found it in the second half as well. It's always a good place to seek out because a simulacrum spawns there fairly often.
I mean can you blame him? I didn't realize using the override key would do... What it did. I wanted the gun but I wouldn't have gone that route in the normal campaign mode had I known the implications

Iv been at it 4 days now rerolling for that hidden room to spawn idk if it's cus u have to do it in campaign first or what but 4 days 30 hours game time it's been hell .
Leveled mine up to +18 and it was hitting for like 1.1k a hit. Thought it was bring slept on big time and was shreddddding ads. They fixed it, was only supposed to go to +10, but i did get a free +10 out of it!

I believe so. You need to insert it into the console at the top where the boss is, so I don't think it's too late
