Have spent a lot of time in Cancun and Isla Mujeres, Puerto Morelos is well worth it. Best thing about it is the big cruise ships just go right on by. Just got back from Puerto, smaller, not so crowded. Snorkeled this small reef several times. Its size is about two city blocks, all roped off, boats are not allowed in the area, perfectly safe. Great place to learn how to snorkel, get used to your gear. Very easy to see snorkel area, just grab your gear and walk in the water, seriously, its that simple. This reef is mostly rock with sponge and fan corals. You will see a great variety of fish, as shown in the video. After you snorkel through the middle, were the reef is, snorkel the perimeter following the ropes, you'll see large trigger fish and very big barracuda. On the ropes the depth is probably 30ft and sea grass bottom, good place to see a sea turtle or eagle ray. The main reef is about a mile out. That's worth the time and money also. Track down a couple of locals for that, Joachim and Charlie, originally from Acapulco, have been a Puerto fixture for over thirty years. For $25-$30 will personally take you out on the main reef and give you a tour. Its a great reef, tons of fish, large elk horn and brain coral, well worth it. Great video, happy snorkeling.
So well shot ... this was our experience today. Our go pro is safely stowed in Canada as we didn't know that we were coming this way otherwise we would have brought it. Pretty sure our shots would not have come out as well as yours though. Thanks for doing all the heavy lifting for us!
I was just here in July 2018 and it's too bad that the sargassum has ruined a lot of the clarity of the water, even way out here. Did you see the underwater cenote right around here? That was pretty cool. I snorkeled the reef with a guide too but the fish I saw here were much larger than the ones out in the reef. Thanks to your video this spot was easy to find. Thank you!
I love this video!! It is so great to watch and makes me want to go to P. Morelos to snorkel. Thank you!
Thanks for the update video. I'd watched your 2015 video numerous times. Looking forward to visiting soon!

Where did you enter the water? How far out did you swim to see all of this? Where is the cenote? Sorry for so many questions....your video is amazing!
