But who is that huge female vocal!? She nailed the brief! Sing it with feeling and sing it BIG! I can’t find anything about who she is. Surely she’s a known singer/recording artist with a voice like that!? The contrast between the male singers and her, make the song what it is. 🤷♂️

Just found out about this song! I was only 6 when it came out. Definitely playing Space Invaders while listening to this tune from now on!!! Space Invaders! Space Invaders!
I had an promotional album given to me in a showbag back in 1980 which had this song and a number of other computer game related songs. From memory there was a song called mousetrap and another about Frogger. It was never sold to the general public.
Dad has this on a 7" single in his collection. It would have come out around the time he was doing mobile discos, I can only imagine how often he played it
Can't believe some Aussies played a videogame and thought "Hey, how about we make a song out of it!", and proceeds to drop a banger like this. Hell yeah.
I should dust off my old Australian market SNES console and thrash the invaders back to whence they came. And this is catchy as despite i was not around in the 1980's.
be sure to compare this song with Jesse Saunders - on and on....both are fab tracks..but you can see where the bassline came from in 'on and on' ; arguably one of the first Chicago House tracks if not ''the'' first record referred to as 'House'.
In an alternate universe they played this song in the space invaders scene in that one Futurama episode: "It's Saturday Night, i have no date, a 2 lt bottle of Shasta, and my all Player 1 Mixtape, Let's Rock!"
I could honestly listen to this song on repeat for an hour. I prefer this version to the polished version on iTunes. I am not very good at the game but I love the aesthetic of it and I own some Space Invaders earrings. One day I wouldn't mind owning one of those arcade tables so I can play the game again.
It would be awesome if there was a movie from 1980 about Space Invaders with this as the theme song and the scenes in this video as scenes from the actual movie
@Dubside Productions Very true! They didn't dare sample other similar baselines from around that time, because they would get sued 😉 It's easier to borrow from a novelty band from australia, that also borrowed from a famous game 😅
The bassline was used on a mashup/re-edit with bits from Donna Summer and Lipps Inc as well. When someone stole Jesse's copy he set out to re-create it with his synth and 808, adding some expletives inspired by the Danes in Laid Back as well. When it came out, many budding producers thought they could do better and from that a musical revolution begun
Great one, one of the first synth pop hits (albeit regional), along with "Computer game" by Mi-sex. Also recommend a great, but underappreciated "Space invaders" song by Alpha Beta - a corker too, only a bit more moody.
This song made it to number 3 in Australia in 1980!!! We Aussies have great taste in music

It's a great song and video, Americans haven't even heard of it
I believe it was produced by Vander and Young of Easybeats and Flash in the Pan fame. Much better and earlier than Pac-Man Fever.

Wow it’s aussie. Loved this song, spent hours at the arcade watching my brothers play this game over and over.
I remember this when it came out
I remember playing the game in the arcade
Yes, remember when this came out was on Countdown. Yes, introduced as an Aussie band
I’m happy this song influenced the first House track (On and On by Jesse Saunders)
We are playing this song right now whilst we are playing space invaders on our cocktail arcade game machine....long live the 80s 🕹👾
Oooh....I have one of those but it needs a new sound card. Still a lot of fun to play.
Yeah baby 🕹

I believe it was release in 1979. I think it's typical early 80's crap but a lot of people liked it, if memory serves me.
