This music describes the Tenth Doctor perfectly. it is sad and haunting in places throughout because he believed he was alone as the last Time Lord and that he killed his planet. The music is bold and dramatic as the Tenth Doctor always was. Then it has heroic and adventurous elements because of Tenths heroic nature and sense of adventure. And finally, the music itself feels ancient and forever, filled with such power and that you know you can't match it. This music is truly the Tenth Doctor.

In my opinion , 10th will always be the best because he was a great mid-riff between Eccleston and Smith. He had a deep personality like Eccleston and had the occasional airiness of Smith. And his hair. OMG the hair.
The Tenth Doctor by far had the darkest episodes, and this theme is perfectly suited because of that. Slow and dark at certain times, but when he rises above it and conquers the evil laid in front of him (such as The Family), then it becomes truly moving like at 2:15.
I exactly agree. He had one of the lightest personalities, but his episodes were so much darker than a lot of the others, and he had to face some terrible choices. Occasionally, he was tempted to do something really bad, like as you mentioned) with The Family, but he manages to rise above it.

I like Matt Smith, but David Tennant made the Doctor have so much deepness and drama. Matt just cant hold the level of drama that David could get. Just look at the themes for the two.

I agree with the theme being sad, but I believe David Tennant gets too much of the attention...just hear me out. David Tennant kisses Rose Tyler, falls in love with her, but he knows he can't be with her, though he continues to put her in danger. He is a dangerous man recovering from war. I personally enjoy Matt Smith, because he has this boyish attitude and has fun, though knows how to be serious. He comes for those who need him. He mourns the loss of two good friends. David just seemed too...too perfect. He lost Rose, Rose got another doctor, Donna gets hurt with the meta-crisis, he fixes her. Matt Smith has noticeable flaws.
Doctress Whooves I believe 10 had many flaws. Especially at the end in The Waters of Mars where he saved those people he shouldn't have. He is dangerous, and has way too much power. He starts off all upbeat and cheerful in the beginning, but in the last few episodes hes in, you can just see him starting to break. Hes lost so many people, and hes tired of it. He can't save everybody, and hes watched so many others die, and it hurts. Realistically, hes anything but perfect. He starts out going by the laws and rules of time, but like I said, in the Waters of Mars he finally gives in and messes with fixed points in time when he knows it will change everything. To me, that's a pretty human choice to make, compared to what he did in The Fires of Pompeii. I believe he slowly regressed in that way throughout the series. It was sad to watch. He just got tired of watching everyone die and not being able to do anything about it. I loved 11, don't get me wrong. But there was something special about 10. But in any case, I would not call 10 "perfect."
Well...in a way, he solves EVERYTHING that happens. He still saved those people. He believes that he has to save people, because that's who the 10th doctor is.
People have their own favorite doctors. Whether it's the 10th,11th,9th,8th,12th, or even War, It's perfectly fine. You don't need to believe what everyone else says on "who's the best doctor". Just know that the Doctor is the Doctor, and your favorite is your favorite.
Except 13. Terrible writing. And Jodie just doesn't have that essence that most other actors have portrayed. Even Catherine Tate had a bit of that essence. She would've been one sassy doctor. Just hope she comes back to play the role at some stage.

+InterruptRequest I agree, 11 during Series 5 takes some time as Smith was still getting used to the role but by Series 6 he starts coming into his own and has his fair share of moments. I just prefer Ten. David was my first doctor and real exposure to Doctor Who. I even spent $100 to have a universal remote control based on his screen-used prop. If one word sums up Ten it's "Survivor".
+Webshooters1 It does take him some time to adjust to the role, but by the finale he does a magnifiecent job at bringing the character to life in his own way. Much as I love Nine, Ten, and Twelve, Eleven is my favourtie. I argue he had more than his fair share of moments, he really got to be phenomenal in the end. And Matt is an immensely talented actor. Sure, it took me a while to get used to him, more than it did for me to adjust from Nine to Ten - I was warming up to Ten by the end of the Christmas special - but like I said, by the Pandorica speech I loved him too, and now... I personally like all of the new Doctors.. My first Doctor was, I am sure I am not the only one, Christopher Eccleston and I really liked him as the Doctor. Then MY Doctor, David Tennant came on. After he regenerated into 11 I thought "this is a weird guy" but after a few episodes I liked the 11th Doctor as well. I totally am okay with his character changes. 9 came out after a big war. 10 had the same memories and tried to do things better. 11 was tired of being an "adult" and tired of being the 'all responsible one' so he acted more childish and wanted to 'enjoy' his adventures rather than being afraid of what's next. The first time he was afraid of himself was in "The name of the Doctor". He wanted to forget all of his previous incarnations, especially one and got all his memories back in a blink of an eye. After all this he wanted to retire on 'Christmas' and he grew up... He got old and Peter Capaldi is the best choice they could have made to be the heir of 11. He hasn't forget his childish way but he acts like a grown up. That's why I love this show so Much. You never know what to expect.

I have watched every episode of Doctor who except 12's because I got my heart ripped out from 4, then 10, then 11. I'm not going to love 12 and get dumped again.
+The Paraxoid I think you're being unfair to Clara. I personally really liked her whole "Impossible Girl" storyline. By the time the 12th Doctor arrived though, she was taking up too much space so to speak. She'd become a bit too important of a character, so she wasn't giving the Doctor enough space to shine, which makes it really tough for Peter Capaldi to prove that he really IS the Doctor. I didn't instantly like Matt Smith, but he grew on me, and by the time the 11th Doctor regenerated, I was probably as sad about that as I was when the 10th Doctor regenerated. Now, very recently, I feel that the 12th Doctor is finally coming into his own. I have a feeling that the next season is going to be when Peter Capaldi gets to show that the 12th Doctor can be great as well.
I'm Scottish, and though I think David Tennant was a bloody good Doctor, I think Matt is better. I love them all don't get me wrong. Matt was just awesome. But he's closely followed by David.

I have always liked 10 because I feel like he really portrays the Doctor. Sometimes I would look at his face and think about how he can look so young but also so very old at the same time, just how the Doctor is, and though I love 11 and his personality I don't think he captured it as well as David Tennant did. I love so many of the Doctor Who songs, and this one is just so deep and epic and sad.

And they did. The skies turned dark when he accepted it. When the 12th Doctor said: "Pity... No stars... I hoped there'd be stars...". He accepted his death and the skies of all the worlds turned dark.
The idea of the Doctor regenerating was the most ingenious thing ever. This show is as eternal as the Doctor himself! Most shows totally lose their edge when actors are replaced but in this it's all part of the show progressing so people will adapt to it as they accept it as part of the show (Of course they may favor one Doctor and/or companions over another) but such an ingenious move does at least keep the appeal up. David was a brilliant doctor and to date the second longest running incarnation of the Doctor. Second only to Tom Baker if I remember right :)
feliciano vargas Yes and no. Tennant and Smith had the same number of seasons but Tennant was The Doctor for more years. Tennant starred from the end of 2005 to 2010. Smith starred from 2010 to 2014. Tennant 5 years, Smith 4 years.
9, 10, 11. These three were the PINNACLE of my Whoovian Childhood thanks to my mother. And goddamn it, I will always be waiting for my turn to travel with the Doctor. Maybe one day, Doctor. Maybe one day. 💜

Honestly David Tennant and the writing for his episodes plus the music simply were perfection. I am so glad to have grown up with his doctor who from 8 years old to 12 years old, it shaped me in a way to be kind but also firm when people took things too far.
I love how there is similarity to the nine's theme. It has a likeness to a point and then branches off in its own way, which perfectly shows the relation between the nine and ten.
The tenth and eleventh doctors will always be my favourites. I grew up with David Tennant, but I grew to love Matt Smith. They were both wonderful doctors in their own way ☺
I personally find this theme and nines to be the saddest, I love elevens but his is much more heroic and brave compared to this. Tens theme sings of all the loss he went though, losing the girl who he gave his regeneration for then having Martha who was a temporary solution to his sadness- though a loyal companion she wasn't the one that he wanted. Then losing Donna and having to erase her memories. But at the end of the song it shows that he realizes that he has lost but he will never be alone as he rises above the evil that is always there in front of him. No matter what face he is or who he has with him, he will always be the Doctor, a man to serve and heal.
I couldn't have said this better myself... The tenth Doctor's theme will always be beautiful, and we will never forget the tenth Doctor himself either. May he forever be happy with Rose.
Whenever I get upset, irritated or feel like I'm not being myself, I just listen to this theme. It reminds me of my childhood, the laughs, the memories and brings me back to who I am!
I feel like with the 9th doctors theme there was a sense of loss, and loneliness. he had just lost everything, but he moved on without ever really grieving fully. the 10th doctors theme brings back that loss and lonely feeling, in a haunting sort of way. 10 had to face so much in his time, reuniting with the master, and losing so many people, reminding him of how he lost his home. but parts of his theme show hope, parts in which the music swells and builds, it shows that when he had people with him, he was stronger. at the end of the day however, he was still hurting immensely from the destruction of his planet and the loss of his people.
David tennant is the only doctor to make me cry, matt smith was close but that fact that david tennant was with me longer as i was growing up and when the words "i dont want to go" were said i cried, they best doctor in my opinion.

The Eleventh Doctor's theme is about the excitement of the journey and the triumph of succeeding. This theme is about the cost of that journey, the sorrow and the loss that goes with it. Each suits its own Doctor well. I prefer both the Tenth Doctor and his theme because I find the depth of emotion involved much more compelling, but that's why the Doctor and his song changes. Each Doctor brings a flavor that enrichens the whole experience and each viewer responds most strongly to the Doctor that best fulfills the experience they hope to encounter in an episode of Doctor Who.
Even though I watched the last doctor before it was canceled late nights in high school, I have been a loyal fan of the re-boot. They all bring something to the role. I'm sorry but Peter Capaldi was never right for the part and just started hitting his stride when he was stuck in that confession dial. The best EVER was David Tennant. He is, was and will always be MY doctor. Besides Bad Wolf which is my favorite episode and Tennant's first episode technically, the episodes where he is reunited with Rose and he gives her hybrid doctor so part of him can just be in love and enjoy it ( parting of the ways?) Was AMAZING! David's regeneration episode was beautiful, simply put I didn't want him to go either....wish he would have done one last season. I remember when i was 9, going into the room my bigger brother and i shared, and seeing him watching the first christmas special with david tennant fighting off the sycorax, from then on, i never stopped loving doctor who.
I miss this era. This was a time when the writers didn't feel the need to ransack the history of the show and twist everything to fit their contrived plots. When the Doctor could be taken seriously but still have his funny moments. When the show had a spirit of adventure and a humility that has long since gone. RTD had his weak episodes as a showrunner, but he managed to revive the show and give it new life while respecting its heritage. If only he had chosen a better successor...

This theme is perfect for showing the passion, devastation and wild heart(s) of the Doctor. My favourite theme, at the beginning it shows all of his pain and then his anger slowly building up to relization and joy. It's beautiful.

This sends chills down my spine. How RTD and David Tennant worked with the great work Christopher Eccleston and took to an even greater level for series 2 was simply amazing.
It's that theme that plays around the TARDIS and around Rose as Bad Wolf, too! The first person he ever saw, the one who nursed him to health in his first hours, who took care of him during the one time he could not take care of himself or of everybody else, the one constant when he had changed absolutely, the first person he ever loved- her memory woven into who he is, forever. And the TARDIS, his loyal companion that keeps going even when he can't.
This theme is awesome. It has parts that are dark and almost depressing, reflecting 10's character. You truly get the sense that he lost something (his planet) or that he is alone. This personifies 10 so much it's actually unreal. It was so simple too: just take 9's theme and change it slightly to suit 10. They did a great job. Respect.

I know! When I first saw David Tennant while watching Doctor Who, I was like: "Hold on... I think I've seen you before..." And while I was rewatching the Harry Potter series, I saw him again. All I managed to scream was: "dOCTOR YOU GET YOUR ASS BACK IN THE TARDIS RIGHT NOW!!"
I honestly think David leaving played a major part in my depression... I'm still fighting it.. And this music is both giving me strength to carry on and breaking me.
I just finished watching the regeneration of David tennant as the Doctor to Smith and my god did I bawl. He is just too bloody amazing. I think the thing that got me the most though is the fact through everything that he did to help everyone, he was alone in the end. He has nobody and he was heartbroken and it just gets to me everytime. In this ballad you can just feel the pain of his sorrow through everything that has happened to him.
David Tennant was the best combination to make the best Doctor, he was funny at times but then also serious in a way that only The Doctor can be. It was sad when he regenerated but that was then i started to understand The Doctor a bit more, the other side of him.
The first Doctor I ever watched was Ten. I remember being at my grandmas when I was 6 years old and her putting his first episode on. He will always be my favourite Doctor and listening to this makes me feel nostalgic :').
This perfectly captures the Tenth Doctor! I mean it's got that haunting, "the man who regrets." theme going, while being powerful, joyous at parts, and just really captures the Tenth Doctor!
Listening to this and crying my eyes out..... Doctor Who as a Series touched me soooooo bad. I was so emotionally attached to it, it felt like an actual friend died, when the 10th had to go. The most Heart wrenching tvmoment i EVER saw. And i will never forget it. And i will never be able to Not cry listening to this

I exactly agree. He had one of the lightest personalities, but his episodes were so much darker than a lot of the others, and he had to face some terrible choices. Occasionally, he was tempted to do something really bad, like as you mentioned) with The Family, but he manages to rise above it.

David Tennant kisses Rose Tyler, falls in love with her, but he knows he can't be with her, though he continues to put her in danger. He is a dangerous man recovering from war. I personally enjoy Matt Smith, because he has this boyish attitude and has fun, though knows how to be serious. He comes for those who need him. He mourns the loss of two good friends. David just seemed too...too perfect. He lost Rose, Rose got another doctor, Donna gets hurt with the meta-crisis, he fixes her. Matt Smith has noticeable flaws.
Doctress Whooves I believe 10 had many flaws. Especially at the end in The Waters of Mars where he saved those people he shouldn't have. He is dangerous, and has way too much power. He starts off all upbeat and cheerful in the beginning, but in the last few episodes hes in, you can just see him starting to break. Hes lost so many people, and hes tired of it. He can't save everybody, and hes watched so many others die, and it hurts. Realistically, hes anything but perfect. He starts out going by the laws and rules of time, but like I said, in the Waters of Mars he finally gives in and messes with fixed points in time when he knows it will change everything. To me, that's a pretty human choice to make, compared to what he did in The Fires of Pompeii. I believe he slowly regressed in that way throughout the series. It was sad to watch. He just got tired of watching everyone die and not being able to do anything about it. I loved 11, don't get me wrong. But there was something special about 10. But in any case, I would not call 10 "perfect."

Except 13. Terrible writing. And Jodie just doesn't have that essence that most other actors have portrayed. Even Catherine Tate had a bit of that essence. She would've been one sassy doctor. Just hope she comes back to play the role at some stage.

As for which one is the best. I DO prefer 10, but 11 has some very good moments, making him VERY close to as great as 10.

I just prefer Ten. David was my first doctor and real exposure to Doctor Who. I even spent $100 to have a universal remote control based on his screen-used prop. If one word sums up Ten it's "Survivor".

Much as I love Nine, Ten, and Twelve, Eleven is my favourtie. I argue he had more than his fair share of moments, he really got to be phenomenal in the end. And Matt is an immensely talented actor.
Sure, it took me a while to get used to him, more than it did for me to adjust from Nine to Ten - I was warming up to Ten by the end of the Christmas special - but like I said, by the Pandorica speech I loved him too, and now...

My first Doctor was, I am sure I am not the only one, Christopher Eccleston and I really liked him as the Doctor.
Then MY Doctor, David Tennant came on. After he regenerated into 11 I thought "this is a weird guy" but after a few episodes I liked the 11th Doctor as well.
I totally am okay with his character changes.
9 came out after a big war.
10 had the same memories and tried to do things better.
11 was tired of being an "adult" and tired of being the 'all responsible one' so he acted more childish and wanted to 'enjoy' his adventures rather than being afraid of what's next.
The first time he was afraid of himself was in "The name of the Doctor".
He wanted to forget all of his previous incarnations, especially one and got all his memories back in a blink of an eye.
After all this he wanted to retire on 'Christmas' and he grew up...
He got old and Peter Capaldi is the best choice they could have made to be the heir of 11. He hasn't forget his childish way but he acts like a grown up.
That's why I love this show so Much.

+The Paraxoid I think you're being unfair to Clara. I personally really liked her whole "Impossible Girl" storyline. By the time the 12th Doctor arrived though, she was taking up too much space so to speak. She'd become a bit too important of a character, so she wasn't giving the Doctor enough space to shine, which makes it really tough for Peter Capaldi to prove that he really IS the Doctor. I didn't instantly like Matt Smith, but he grew on me, and by the time the 11th Doctor regenerated, I was probably as sad about that as I was when the 10th Doctor regenerated. Now, very recently, I feel that the 12th Doctor is finally coming into his own. I have a feeling that the next season is going to be when Peter Capaldi gets to show that the 12th Doctor can be great as well.

I have always liked 10 because I feel like he really portrays the Doctor. Sometimes I would look at his face and think about how he can look so young but also so very old at the same time, just how the Doctor is, and though I love 11 and his personality I don't think he captured it as well as David Tennant did.
I love so many of the Doctor Who songs, and this one is just so deep and epic and sad.

The idea of the Doctor regenerating was the most ingenious thing ever. This show is as eternal as the Doctor himself! Most shows totally lose their edge when actors are replaced but in this it's all part of the show progressing so people will adapt to it as they accept it as part of the show (Of course they may favor one Doctor and/or companions over another) but such an ingenious move does at least keep the appeal up. David was a brilliant doctor and to date the second longest running incarnation of the Doctor. Second only to Tom Baker if I remember right :)

Honestly David Tennant and the writing for his episodes plus the music simply were perfection. I am so glad to have grown up with his doctor who from 8 years old to 12 years old, it shaped me in a way to be kind but also firm when people took things too far.
I love how there is similarity to the nine's theme. It has a likeness to a point and then branches off in its own way, which perfectly shows the relation between the nine and ten.

I personally find this theme and nines to be the saddest, I love elevens but his is much more heroic and brave compared to this. Tens theme sings of all the loss he went though, losing the girl who he gave his regeneration for then having Martha who was a temporary solution to his sadness- though a loyal companion she wasn't the one that he wanted. Then losing Donna and having to erase her memories. But at the end of the song it shows that he realizes that he has lost but he will never be alone as he rises above the evil that is always there in front of him.
No matter what face he is or who he has with him, he will always be the Doctor, a man to serve and heal.

I feel like with the 9th doctors theme there was a sense of loss, and loneliness. he had just lost everything, but he moved on without ever really grieving fully. the 10th doctors theme brings back that loss and lonely feeling, in a haunting sort of way. 10 had to face so much in his time, reuniting with the master, and losing so many people, reminding him of how he lost his home. but parts of his theme show hope, parts in which the music swells and builds, it shows that when he had people with him, he was stronger. at the end of the day however, he was still hurting immensely from the destruction of his planet and the loss of his people.

The Eleventh Doctor's theme is about the excitement of the journey and the triumph of succeeding. This theme is about the cost of that journey, the sorrow and the loss that goes with it. Each suits its own Doctor well. I prefer both the Tenth Doctor and his theme because I find the depth of emotion involved much more compelling, but that's why the Doctor and his song changes. Each Doctor brings a flavor that enrichens the whole experience and each viewer responds most strongly to the Doctor that best fulfills the experience they hope to encounter in an episode of Doctor Who.

Even though I watched the last doctor before it was canceled late nights in high school, I have been a loyal fan of the re-boot. They all bring something to the role. I'm sorry but Peter Capaldi was never right for the part and just started hitting his stride when he was stuck in that confession dial. The best EVER was David Tennant. He is, was and will always be MY doctor. Besides Bad Wolf which is my favorite episode and Tennant's first episode technically, the episodes where he is reunited with Rose and he gives her hybrid doctor so part of him can just be in love and enjoy it ( parting of the ways?) Was AMAZING! David's regeneration episode was beautiful, simply put I didn't want him to go either....wish he would have done one last season. I miss this era. This was a time when the writers didn't feel the need to ransack the history of the show and twist everything to fit their contrived plots. When the Doctor could be taken seriously but still have his funny moments. When the show had a spirit of adventure and a humility that has long since gone. RTD had his weak episodes as a showrunner, but he managed to revive the show and give it new life while respecting its heritage. If only he had chosen a better successor...

This sends chills down my spine. How RTD and David Tennant worked with the great work Christopher Eccleston and took to an even greater level for series 2 was simply amazing.

It's that theme that plays around the TARDIS and around Rose as Bad Wolf, too! The first person he ever saw, the one who nursed him to health in his first hours, who took care of him during the one time he could not take care of himself or of everybody else, the one constant when he had changed absolutely, the first person he ever loved- her memory woven into who he is, forever. And the TARDIS, his loyal companion that keeps going even when he can't.
This theme is awesome. It has parts that are dark and almost depressing, reflecting 10's character. You truly get the sense that he lost something (his planet) or that he is alone. This personifies 10 so much it's actually unreal. It was so simple too: just take 9's theme and change it slightly to suit 10. They did a great job. Respect.

I just finished watching the regeneration of David tennant as the Doctor to Smith and my god did I bawl. He is just too bloody amazing. I think the thing that got me the most though is the fact through everything that he did to help everyone, he was alone in the end. He has nobody and he was heartbroken and it just gets to me everytime. In this ballad you can just feel the pain of his sorrow through everything that has happened to him.

David Tennant was the best combination to make the best Doctor, he was funny at times but then also serious in a way that only The Doctor can be. It was sad when he regenerated but that was then i started to understand The Doctor a bit more, the other side of him.

The first Doctor I ever watched was Ten. I remember being at my grandmas when I was 6 years old and her putting his first episode on. He will always be my favourite Doctor and listening to this makes me feel nostalgic :').
This perfectly captures the Tenth Doctor! I mean it's got that haunting, "the man who regrets." theme going, while being powerful, joyous at parts, and just really captures the Tenth Doctor!

Listening to this and crying my eyes out..... Doctor Who as a Series touched me soooooo bad. I was so emotionally attached to it, it felt like an actual friend died, when the 10th had to go. The most Heart wrenching tvmoment i EVER saw. And i will never forget it. And i will never be able to Not cry listening to this
