- Last lap and podium ceremony for the 1986 British Grand Prix at Brands Hatch. Mansell almost faints after winning and the crowd roars as he celebrates in the back of an SUV on the way to the podium. One of Mansell's most memorable moments in Formula One. Even Murray gets a bit emotional.
He should have been champion that year.
Back when F1 was GLORIOUS!
Really miss it.
Prost. Senna. Mansell. Piquet.
Berger. Alboreto (RIP).
McClaren. Williams. Ferrari.
Never see the like again.
its still glorious...
I was at this race. Great day! I wish they'd take F1 back to Brands. I think it's a far better circuit than Silverstone.
Superb upload!
Brilliant Driver
Brilliant Car
Brilliant Circuit
I was there with my dad. Good times
When these days have you ever seen a driver as shattered at the end of a race as Mansel is here, different class altogether...
I saw at the race and it was brilliant. The excitement of the engines as they came into to corners was brilliant.
Yep, I was there, top row of Druid’s Stand, thus facing the slowest u-bend approach and exit, and yet with the fastest downhill longest straight immediately behind us ! Brilliant.
Nigel Mansell - TOP PLAY TO YOU - even tho i was a Piquet fan!!
We love you Murry. Why can't you still commentate all the races :(
The most competed race in F-1 history, Piquet and Mansell overtaking each other several times on the lead, Mansell won by a centimeter, he could stand on his feet after the race. Such race can be racer only if the two "dancers" know very well each other and know that the other won't commit a mistake.
@theflyingferret77 I've sent you a message about the race, and yeah that's the right race, in 1986. Mansell had a problem in the first start and was lucky the race was red flagged and restarted so he could use Piquet's spare car. Piquet was with Brabham in 1985 and retired very early at Brands that year after hitting Rosberg after he spun while trying to overtake Senna -- another great race and Mansell's first ever win.
Current F1 drivers could run a marathon after they finish the Race it's so easy these days
Conquerer...do you have the full race? I can't find it anywhere online. I was only 8 in the summer of '86 but I remember watching this race with my Dad. Piquet took the lead and Mansell was in Piquet's spare car...Nigel got him with a typically great move as the Brazilian missed a gear...Might have it mixed up with the '85 race at Brands...it was a while back now!
8:00 he looks like a medevil Knight
@Conquerer13 almost true. in 1985, firstly Senna and Rosberg made contact, then Rosberg spun and then Piquet ran into him. - Great footage of turbo-F1-racing on the fantastic Brands Hatch circuit. Of course, way too dangerous compared with today's measures, but still fantastic to watch.
typically great move? Mansell on his way out from the pit, had block Piquet who was coming faster and was gonna get pass! And he moved from one side to the other to proper don't let Piquet overtaking him. Was quite dirty move
遅咲きと言われましたが、この日から始まったんですね。伝説が!😄👐😀
yes f1 to brands
two questions if anyone can answer them. Was this the lap where he broke the record at brands hatch? and why was he so faint and everyone else was fine?
I can answer your second question. After any grand prix, it makes sense for a driver to be physically drained and exhausted after trying to keep up with cornering forces and keeping the car in line. That's why mansell looks under the weather during the podium
Queensway Autos in attendance.
