Today its time to fly out the J21A-1 in a Realistic Battle. Flew out with the J21 yesterday for the first time since release of 1.97, Viking Fury. And found out exactly what this plane is about, lets see how it went. Hope you enjoy :)

Hey guys, From the poll it seemed you wanted the Swedish J21A-1 first, so here she is :) in the meantime the new patch, 1.97 Viking Fury is out! I've only had a sneakpeak on that, with the coronavirus lockdown here in holland i've got my son at home, and that means much less time to fly. I'll work on content on that though. Still waiting for you to start using MEC. It doesn't take long to set up and once you've set it up, you can back up the keyboard config file so that you never have to set it up again.
Your squadron mate Sayakho helped me set up MEC when I was a member of your squadron last year. It breathes new life into the game, IMO, as you can fight off overheating and if you adjust prop pitch, it helps you to climb better (for those planes that have bad climb rate, adjusting prop pitch helps a ton).
All I really adjust is the radiators and the prop. I don't mess with fuel mixture (yet). It totally depends on the plane you may be flying...some planes don't overheat like the J21A-1, so they don't need radiator adjustments...this plane does. As well, the more you open the radiators, the more drag you create, so you've to find a balance.
Another trick I use when the engine is heat-soaked is to turn it off for 20 or so seconds (if there's no enemy near me and if I've good speed/altitude). That helps with planes with no oil radiator, like the Spit.

Everything in the tree is a joy to fly. I even dogfought with some 3.0's as I was grinding up to my friend's BR in my J6. Meanwhile my team was bickering over something stupid leaving me alone against a 109 and a A6M2 or A6M3, i can't quite remember
Is it? I found that before you get the J 21 (which is wonderful), there is the J 6 and J 22 (I don't count copies), where the J 6 is a decent biplane, J 22 is sluggish in both versions. The bombers are way better, though.

@@justinsane332 Did it get a buff or what? When I played it, it was a so-so climber, not a good turner, low rip speed...it only had good firepower and energy retention.

I love this plane!!! 3:1 KD ratio on this - frequent aces. It's a beast!
Devestates bombers and opposing teams. I've even taken on 109F4s with confidence. This this is the god of BR3.0.

In 1.97 update you can display both IAS nad TAS at the same time in upper left corner, it's in settings. That will allow you to see top speed increase at higher altitude in TAS.
I really want this thing as it's got a really good 3.0 and 3.3 br

yeah, can imagine, but im sure at mid to low alt many of the soviet planes can eat this thing up, in maneuverability. and on lower speed also on speed. especially the 4.0 planes.

Hey Jengar - great vid as always. I have a question regarding your measure of lockup/control stiffening at speed: What do you mean by 1st-tick, 2nd-tick etc? How do you define when it is a tick? I assumed stiffening was just gradually increasing, so I'm missing something here... Thanks!
In WT you see definitive ticks in controll stiffening when you go trough the speeds. they lay at the points where i mention them. I've tested this in test flight in a dive, rolling the plane and seeing where the points lay where she stiffens up.

I suppose the comparison to the Bf 109 isn't too strange given it's running a DB 605 engine so aside from aerodynamics the engine should have similar altitude tolerances.
I am new to this and yes it's addictive (addicted am I). Being new I was wondering does any one out there know how (if you can) have a favorites list. I play Aviation Arcade). Country's run left to right USA to Sweden and if you go to Battle you have to use the aircraft in that country. Is there a way (for nubies) to add a county like area next to Sweden like bombers, My Favorites, fighters that used could create with different aircraft from different countries?
you can make lineups for the specific countries and put your favorite planes in there. But they will always be withing the countries, not a tab besides the countries.
If I recall, the engine is the DB 601
No, it's a DB 605, same as on Bf 109 G2

@@jengar6258 when I fly mine, I don't seem to have issue with taking on others bullets, perhaps I just have a hard time shooting them down, lol. But those guns certainly take care of business! I don't think I've flown it once without getting a couple kills, and I'm a terrible pilot!
Man when i was flying my 109 this thing was a cancer, now that i got it, i`m the cancer...
Man. This thing is at 4.3 BR now and, I don’t know. It kind of gets stomped even at 4.3, in a full up tire to 5.3, forget it. You’re not out climbing, out speeding, out maneuvering, or hell even out gunning anything. So frustrating to play now.
Yeah, I feel like I'm in a sticky spot with the swedish planes, I could just be really bad, but the guns seem to be the only good thing about them.

It's a shame 1.97 has so many visual bugs. Tracers are often invisible for me, sometimes the enemy plane would disappear for a second, and I get a lot of phase shifted bullets that go straight through the enemy plane.

Hate to play against this one in Soviet plane. Low round and low rip speed means boom and zoom (the safest way I can think of against this one) useless. Almost impossible to avoid head-on with 13 mm and 20 mm cannon of these SAAB.

@Greg Walker the p47 is faster so try diving and also thunderbolt can do 800kph before ripping and this can do only 700kph

yea no the thing is you cant manouver anything and it does not climb well. the game is allready over before you get up to good altitude. most planes climb better than this and so yea

Has the flight model been changed in the last months? This plane is absolutely terrible. Can't climb. Can't turn. Can't dive. Can't retain energy. Gets caught by almost every plane in level flight. It's like you aren't even flying the same plane in this video.
