I didn't read all the comments, so my apologies if this was mentioned.. Back in 1991 Steve Vai produced a band of teenagers, the oldest was only 16. The band consisted of singer Danny Cooksey, Zack Young on bass, Thomas McRocklin, who was like 12, and shredded on guitar. He was in an old Steve Vai video as a young Vai. The drummer in that band was 14 year old Brooks Wackerman. They released one album. You can find some of it here on UA-cam. I loved it. I was only 22 when it came out. So...there's some background that will lead you down various rabbit holes as some of you will recognize Cooksey from old TV shows. McRocklin stepped away from music for a long time, but is now putting out new stuff again. Oh...and this video was awesome.

Love trujillo and Metallica but I’d put brooks ahead of him, his impact on the stage record was massive and the drums were one of the standout things on it. With trujillo he’s a great fit and bassist but I don’t think he has nearly as much impact on a Metallica record as brooks does on an A7X record, drums were one of the absolute focal points of the stage record, he really gave them such a huge Spark of creativity again after HTTK which was easily their most bland and generic record, brooks helped bring that classic A7X creativity back. Anyway both were incredible additions and I love that brooks is in A7X and Rob in Metallica, they both kickass
I gotta be the only one who thinks differently. Great drummer but don't care to much for the beat and style he plays for a7x. The rev drove so much on the creativity side of things and it's gone foREVer.

Adding Brooks to A7X is one of the best ever outside of Robert Trujillo to Metallica, to keep a great band pure. Love Brooks!!!
