Aero L-39C Albatros Takeoff, Low Pass, and Landing at Calgary Springbank Airport

- Certainly one of the more unique aircraft I've filmed! This Czech-built L-39C Albatros is based at Calgary Springbank Airport, and is owned and flown by a former CF-18 pilot, with rides being sold to the public for $3000 apiece. This is something I've been meaning to catch for quite a while, so I'm very happy to have caught it! Enjoy this classic Czech trainer departing, doing a low pass, landing, and taxiing close up at Calgary's other airport, with ATC included!
Thanks for watching!

60 years old design, still a beauty and deliver enough destruction for light attack mission
what? i thought the albatros was a "relative" new design like 90" ?!?
@@aspencat2239 first flight 1968
@@aspencat2239 heck no. it was a cold war trainer. very old
Great capture Alex. This is one of our most spectacular YBW based aircraft.
The aircraft was designed and manufactured in the 80's. years in Czechoslovakia designed for more advanced training military pilots of jet aircraft. In its time it was the best jet trainer in the world. For its flight characteristics, ease of maneuverability and simplicity, is at the pilots are still very popular
@@staccami we still love it-- with the Czech roundel on the tail
@@staccami He was right with that Czechoslovakia thing, by then Czech Republic didn't exist
@@staccami you also said that "actually it was designed by Czech aircraft manufacturer called Aero Vodochody" which isn't correct because by then Czech Republic did not exist
Wrong - The L-39 Albatros was designed during the 1960s as a successor to the Aero L-29 Delfín, an early jet-powered principal training aircraft. Performing its maiden flight on 4 November 1968, it became the first trainer aircraft in the world to be equipped with a turbofan powerplant. Quantity production of the L-39 Albatros proceeded in 1971; one year later, it was formally recognized by the majority of the Warsaw Pact countries as their preferred primary trainer. Accordingly, thousands of L39s would be produced for various military customers in Eastern Europe

1500 liters of fuel per hour crazy
In the US it is illegal to sell rides in aircraft with experimental airworthiness certificates.
MigFlug offers rides in the L-39 in the US. Tampa, FL is the nearest location to us.

Rate of fuel consumption is obscene!
