Funnily enough I now think higher of the Telsla's alarm system as I've owned cars that the alarm went off when a mouse farts nearby, thsoe cars regularly were set off by high winds, heavy rain & loud bassy cars/motorbikes going by, I imagine the alarm is using it's own sensors and not the cameras at all for deciding when the alarm goes off, which is why flopping about on the top or slapping it doesn't set the alarm off. I lived in a tropical climate where the rain was significantly heavier and with way larger droplets than i've ever seen here in the UK & when a tropical storm is happeing your car does rock a bit in the winds. Given that Tesla's are sold worldwide I'd imagine Tesla have 1 alarm profile that fits all. I'd like to see Tesla intergrarte the cameras into the alarm especially if you could persolaise when your alarm goes off in the options, I'd love to see you do an alarm test from completely inside the car, if you crawl in from the boot can you get into the driver's seat etc. That should be fun to watch! TL;DR: Ha! Don't be lazy, read it if you want to see some points by someone who doesn't own a Tesla say why this video shows some of the alarm's good points.

Criminals before Tesla: *trying to break into a car and rob it without setting off the alarm* Criminals after Tesla: *frantically trying to set off the alarm*
Car alarms used to be extremely sensitive and set off a LOT, making them not liked by the public. The alarm will go of if you open the door using the inside handle and it should go off if the seats weight changes. Cheddar did an excellent video on the unsensivity of modern car alarms. Edit - Personally I would not want it to be more sensitive, (as the Cheddar video points out) as this would make the alarm more common, and in turn less "important" to the public. This would _decrease_ effectiveness. A secondary, more sensitive system just for notifications on phones would be a brilliant idea.
All 7 cars that my family own are pretty old from like 1999-2004 (not sure if you’re talking about way before those years or if those would be old enough to have the more sensitive alarms) and the few times that the alarms have gone off is only when someone accidentally presses the button on the remote. Even though there was literally one time where we went outside in the morning and found the truck window bent out of the frame like someone tried prying it open. I can understand not wanting the alarm to constantly go off for stupid stuff like accidentally brushing against the side of the car and make it so that every single time the alarm goes off nobody even cares (therefore making it possible for someone to actually break in without being noticed). But when someone actually is trying to open the doors or windows or something I think it should let you know.
Our model x alarm went of every 2 minutes when we where on a ferry (I think that’s the right word in English?). We had to turn the alarm off. I think it was because of the vibrations.
One time when I was on a ferry there was a message of the speaker asking the owner of the model x to turn the alarm off because it thought it was in motion and it was indeed in motion 😂

It's sentry mode, you can't turn it off because it's the thing that comes on before the alarm to warn people they are being filmed and make them go away. It has no affect on the alarm.
Just a point you should have tapped on the glass with a metal key, this usually causes the car to detect glass breakage, tapping on the windows with your hand creates to low of a note for it to register. The shaking and slapping make sense. (Maybe just a phone alert would be appropriate). Seeing someone right against the car makes sense to record, but an alarm would be too much. Otherwise anyone getting into their own car parked next to you in a parking lot would set it off. Maybe they should have adjustable sensitivity settings, but so far most of these defaults make sense. There are actual laws against car alarms that are too sensitive because they freak out over every leaf that taps the hood or heavy truck that drives by causing a public nuisance. That said, pulling the door handles should certainly evoke a bigger response from the car, even if the first time is a recorded verbal warning.
