@Alex you're talking about the canary islands, Cape Verdeans are the descendents of African slaves with mixture of various European people mostly Portuguese. We are most definitely African although our culture is very similar to people from the Caribbean.
@Alex I know you're trolling but still, we did not have a choice if we wanted to mix or not. Do you get the concept of slavery? If a Portuguese master wanted to fuck his slaves they did not have a choice.

Jess_Marie_G As a Somali person, my only recommendation is that the banana is optional. Try it, but if you don’t like it with the rice, do what I do and have it as an after dinner dessert.
Untapped Happiness aww thank you! I'm actually obsessed with Majadito, a Bolivian rice dish, and they also eat it with banana, so it's not so unusual for my palate.
Untapped Happiness it's also one of those "rice with bits in it" kind of dish, but i just really enjoy it. What can I say, I love food and have been lucky to make friends from all over the place.
If I tasted that Somali dish blind folded, I would recognize it immediately , although the ingredients are universal, the combination is SOOO SOMALI..lol
I love this. The last rice dish is similar to gumbo, which tells me that us African American have never been too far off of our original culture. We’re also big on black eye peas and collard greens, which I’ve recently learned is called sukuma wiki in a part of west Africa.
east africa, not west africa. mostly kenya. its swahili and literally translates to "push the week" because its the cheapest kind of meal you can have if you're having a tough week financially. goes well with 'ugali' whicj is a kind of cornmeal
To be honest, the way collard Greens are made in America would anger Kenyans. It is completely unpalatable to Kenyans.I started to wonder if this is what Italians feel like when they see pasta in America. A "what the fuck is that?" type of reaction.
I’m Nigerian and we eat Some foods with our hands, well I always use a fork but my my parents use their hands. Even after moving to America my parents still keep the culture going

Linda Barry so true, so yummy
It's not fromKenya, pilaf is from india. Idk why they call it kenyan
Vansh Amin They call it Kenyan because Indians brought their food tradition to kenya.

And then she just fucking stuffed that shit into her mouth by the handful LOL
do you really have to eat it with ur hands like that ?
It is like pizza no you don't have to eat with hands but that is what most do.

Alex Cape Verde is literally in Africa wtf are you talking about
@Alex you're talking about the canary islands, Cape Verdeans are the descendents of African slaves with mixture of various European people mostly Portuguese. We are most definitely African although our culture is very similar to people from the Caribbean.
@Alex I know you're trolling but still, we did not have a choice if we wanted to mix or not. Do you get the concept of slavery? If a Portuguese master wanted to fuck his slaves they did not have a choice.

Alvaro Marin well, technically everyone on the video eating with hands
I cringed automatically when she grabbed that handful.

As a Somali person, my only recommendation is that the banana is optional. Try it, but if you don’t like it with the rice, do what I do and have it as an after dinner dessert.
Untapped Happiness aww thank you! I'm actually obsessed with Majadito, a Bolivian rice dish, and they also eat it with banana, so it's not so unusual for my palate.

I’m gonna have to look that up and give it a try! I think it’s also pretty neat that you’re exploring dishes from around the world.

The last recipe is from cape Verde and cape Verde is an archepelogo
Ahavameanslove24 I agree.
To be honest, the way collard Greens are made in America would anger Kenyans. It is completely unpalatable to Kenyans.I started to wonder if this is what Italians feel like when they see pasta in America. A "what the fuck is that?" type of reaction.
I think that’s East African
Ethiopian here... I'm so happy east Africa is being represented. I loooove rice😊
