Joe is a pure musical genius and also a grand monsieur. The politics have to learn from him . Under the banner of music and curiosity for the other peoples and cultures , the world became a paradise . 🙏✨☀️⭐️🎶
Zawinul NEVER stopped growing and changing, despite the complete mastery of whatever style he was playing. This man could play piano with the virtuosity of Art Tatum - and walked away from it to do something different with Weather Report. Then another change into his incredible, under appreciated world music period.
That’s the phenomenal Amit Chatterjee on guitar, a dear friend of mine, and a helluva musician and songwriter. I’m not sure I’ve had more fun making a record with anyone than his ‘When Worlds Collide’ solo album. A man of awesome vision and an ocean too far away for me.
Joe Zawinul amazing 5 decade career voming from the Jazz tradition as sn expatriate European musician eho just eanted to play with the real USA cats. He acknowledged thst but contributed do much to the music and sfter playing with Maynard, Cannonball, Miles and Wayne Shorter in Weather Report. He took it further with world 🌍 players bringing rhythms, harmonies, scales from all over. Awesome supporting casts. I think jazz is still Great and hasvtoom for All! Niw that Joe is gone I look forward to his sioorting cast people to create more great music 🎵🎶!!
Joe reminds me of Peter Gabriel in the way he brings joy and love to his music. Just look at the look on their faces, it's spiritual.Talking about that good vibration....
Austria had two real genius musicians: Mozart from Salzburg and Peppi Zawinul from Vienna. If there is a heaven, this two probably are now jamming together. Greetings from Vienna.
OOOOOh yes, Mozart was a bloody funky guy in his days.. Jazz in those days was also top: Bach was baroque top hip. Is classic now. But then ? HIp and mathematicly funky top was Bach . and the rest ofcourse, not all the same era, I know. but :
Zawinul was/is the shit. His musical journey evolved to what it was. His Syndicate was full of baad musicians. I recall after Weather Report broke up, Weather Update came to town where Steve Khan's guitar was in the place Wayne's horn would've been. The Syndicate was born and kept evolving. The musicians he's had in his band are top-line.
At 3.00 Toots Tielemans eat your heart out. The Great Still Alive Tielemans did play with Weather Report just for fun. At least He did a few jamsessions with Pastorius. Never did played for some reason with The Syndicate. Shame...
@@paulminihan5653 I agree, sorry. Just wanted to point out that his fans in later years consisted mainly of baldies like myself and the guys at the back around 6:08

The sheer majesty of Joe's capacity to unite such talents, from so many cultures under the banner of music is unparalleled.
Agree, would like that people also do without music...Unfortunately ..... you know ....whish it nicer..
Superb. Zawinul was a true visonary - far ahead of this time
+bodhi heeren I call this 24th century music.
@@Crashof2008 this music is so 90's

Right , he DID newer jazz and is now forever the one.

Couldn’t agree more with you--Well Said and it’s the truth of the artistry of Zawinul…
We miss Joe Zawinul…..his gloomy solos and chords still impress me… a legend…

Way beyond what I thought jazz was, this is a trip across the world! 😃
Even the Federal President Thomas Klestil joined this marvellous concert, he was one of Zawinuls best friends.

@@ubergeraldine At least they named a Park in the 3rd district in Vienna, where Joe was born (not i the Park but in the district😉) after him.

of all the zowbeedo concerts and lineups somehow this hits a spot in me .... deeper than the ocean .....
Amazing! One of the best I have heard...How in the world does the Zawinul Syndicate have only 2k monthly listeners on Spotify?!

Dion Prisby: Exactly! No note sheets here, pure raw music from the heart
True Dion Prisby, so true! ;-)
Not ANY other one brought this into jazz, Zawinul made newer jazz. We all know, tops !
handsomegrooves - yes indeed!
Josef Erich Zawinul was a genius. He was a Bach, a Beethoven, a Schubert. His music lives on.
From 1973 and more and more better.
Party!

No limit of fantazy.
Joe Z uses that silvery keyboard sound on many tracks becoming his trademark. Anyone know how he achieves that?
It’s a Nord keyboard, to his left on the bottom. Yes, it became his main go to sound after he abandoned his Fender Rhodes
My beer is Rheingold the dry beer 😆
Also, I'm completely in love with Sabine Kabongo.
Grandious performance!!

Carnavalito.
