    "Packing cubes" (?) I am a tour guide of Poland & I have found that the largest IKEA ZIP-LOCK baga are lighter cheaper (and thus disposable). They also come in various colours & sizes. My heaviest item of packed clothing are a spare pair of slip-on (beach) shoes by 'Hot Tuna' - modified with 'FitPace' inner soles. I am on my feet all day and want to change shoes when back in my abode.
    I carry a nylon sandwich bag of 'leaf' clothing soap for washing utility and washing line.

    Hi Aaron. Totally agree! I am on the road in Turkey right now. I have been to 130 countries over 35 years.Tom Bihn 25l bag, 7 kg total weight. I use stuff sacks instead of cubes. Light travel gets easier all the time. When I first started travelling in 1985 I needed a separate camera, rolls of film, a walkman, cassette tapes, batteries, guide books, a novel to read, paper plane tickets, traveller checks. No internet, email, apps, you tube, airbnb. Also travelling during the pandemic has lowered travel costs to 1999 levels. It is incredible how much crap people travel with... Huge bags, one on the front, one on the back. Travelling light is cheaper, safer, more convenient and quite simply the only way to go!!

    I feel like the issue is that my clothing is like possibly double the size of yours because my clothing rolled up doesn't go to that size. It's easily double to triple the size. Also where is the rest of your gear? Where is your laptop? Where is your phone, where is everything else. It looks like it's a onebag video but you're not actually showing everything in the bag. And if it's on your jacket as you say, what's in it?

      I don't normally travel with my laptop. I used to have this Samsung tablet with a detachable keyboard so if I really need to do something, I would have to succumb to a tiny screen. I am okay with that though as I don't really wanna take work with me.
      My phone is just in my pocket - that serves as my camera as well. That way I can leave out the chargers of these gadgets as well.
      I used to travel really light but now, due to work, I do travel with my laptop and when I went to Copenhagen around 3 weeks ago (for 5 days), my handcarry was 8.2kg. Kinda disappointed but I can certainly do better! No one asked to weigh my bag though even though I was flying with a budget airline as the backpack looks pretty small.

    Thanks for the tips! May I know the backpack model you use? To me finding a light backpack is the hardest thing....

    Thanks for the inspiration, you are almost as minimalistic as Artis Guru - that guy has only 3 items in his bag(!)... What do you think from your experience, is it even possible in real life?

      I think it depends on what temperature you are looking at. Definitely not doable if you are going to places less than 5 degrees. Throughout the years (sorry for the super late reply! I noticed it's been 3 years ahahah) I have now increased my 7kgs to 10kgs as I started bringing my laptop, charger, gadgets and what not. Plus a jacket and scarf. But every time I travel, the bag content is almost the same!

    Hmmm - your packing list makes you VERY dependent for the 10C's of survivability, especially if there was a natural or generated disaster. No thanks.

    You're lucky, you're male. For female, this is more difficult, believe me :) Only make-ups take 1 kg already.

      @aarongonetravelling  4 роки тому +1

      Yeah you are right! It must be much harder for females! I remember my mum always put stuff in my bag and I'd always welcome it ahhahaahaha (if not we get charged at the airport).
