@@Hermanos22 Look at reports of owners taking their M2/M3/M4 to a track day and caliper paint melting off. Look at reports of spun crank hubs on M2/M3/M4. M-barrassment. Then look at brand dilution, M235i is a front wheel biased four banger that M division never touched.
@@idokwatcher2062 Never mind the fact that - and I say this with nothing but love for the small, punchy M2 in particular - BMW's proper performance cars get regularly trounced by Porsche Caymans and Boxters, the smaller AMG Mercs, Audi Sport's executive and compact cars, and more recently the Mustang and Camaro.
Cashing in on that badge can't last forever. They are in for a rude awakening....

Back in the 80's 1000 Lakes Rally was something else....back then there was 39 stages, today we have approx 24. Back in the 80's there was almost 500km to drive, today we have only little bit over 300km...
What Ari says about living life is always prophetic and uplifting.
It goes so far beyond the usual interview comments.
He's a great ambassador for the sport.

You should watch some 4wds. Theyre sideways ALL the time.
@@sugarnads Because the drivers make them go sideways. You dont see 4wd cars go sideways on corner exits for example because they dont really oversteer from accelerating.

@@boss12 not gonna get into a debate with you in this. Imo one of the all time classic sports cars that was successful in many different categories. I wantched them race in Australia against cars with twice the engine capacity and it was David vs Goliath. David often won against the odds. I've got one in my garage and a spare motor for it too that I built. I'm biased.

I'm always in awe of what rally car drivers, co-pilots, and the machines themselves can do.

Something like 80 mm of rear suspension travel, must have been extremely challenging handling... that is some talented driving!

The real problem was that journalists would stand in the road to take the best pictures, but often ending up making the cars brake in fear of hitting them.

It is Prodrive M3 just different sponsor wich came with Vatanen.
We need a RWD & no sensor class in WRC.
There is, it's called the R-GT (where you see a lot of modern Porsche 911 rally cars). Although it's not a very popular category as the other categories because there's not a lot of competitors enter it. Maybe more popular in some national rallies but not in WRC.

I would watch this but so many of my finnish bmw enthusiast peers have said that they stopped watching when you mentioned that engine was 6 cylinders, which ofcourse no s14 ever was. So I won't.

wonder why they didint use a 4wd e30. if its the Chevy 6 cl engine the m3 motor would drop right in, some guy did that and ran in Mexico in the 90's
The car needed to be homologated. Couldn't have used a custom setup like that. Also, would the 4wd drivetrain have been tough enough for this kind of abuse?
@ its not a costom setup, im refering to the 325ix. and people have been rallying those pretty successfully.
