It was very peaceful to experience nature with you in this video. I could not get out in nature today but somehow felt like I had a break in my day thanks to you and this video. There is nothing that compares to being out in the woods, in fresh air and water, and feeling the creator. I'm not sure how I found your channel but I am glad I did. You seem very sweet and knowledgeable about plants and trees. A park Ranger job would be an excellent fit for you. I hope you continue to pursue that path. You would be a natural for it.l
The Hardwood forest's of the Northeast was on my bucket list but sadly I will never be able to fulfill that dream. It's so nice to go on these adventures with you and to get educated at the same time. You carry some very important knowledge with you Young Lady. And to see you passing that knowledge to the youngsters is awesome. As many on your channel have stated you truly are a Park Ranger. Thank you for making an old man feel a twinge of happiness. Hope you and yours stay blessed.
Good video! Much of the birch is black birch. It was used in the 1800’s+ to make an extract used for flavoring and I believe some medicinal uses. There’s a birch still near where I live that was used in my lifetime (but hasn’t been out of use for many years). And a real one is on display at the Pennsylvania Lumber Museum in Coudersport (that is a great place to visit too). Looks like you had fun at Hickory Run. 🙂
That is a beautiful state park. I've never been there. I should check it out, it's in my county..lol. Looks like great bear habitat though. Have you ever been to Francis Slocum State Park? I used to do a lot of camping and fishing there. We also did some camping at Promised Land State Park in Wayne County as well. Great video, you captured some awesome nature scenes.
As lovely as I remember. ❤thank you for that, Fern. My favorite part was when you were smiling so much. I can tell it’s one of your favorite places. You should apply to that park for a job. You could do field guide tours for schools.
Like Marlon Brando but bigger, you'll find that creature at the bottom of the deep down Susquehanna River. Lol That's the first few lines of a song called "I Have the Body of John Wilkes Booth" by Clutch. Great video btw, nothing better than experiencing nature as much as possible.
Is it me? Or have your video views and subscribers taken off like a rocket lately? 😜 heck I remember when I was like 1 of 5 followers! 💥💥😜💯 good for you! ❤
FYI, its a black birch aka sweet birch. However I also noticed some yellow birch in your video background. It has flakier bark and more of a yellowish tent to the bark.
@@PACreekWalker It's called the hemlock wooly adelgid an aphid-like insect that sucks sap from hemlock needles, it can take 4- 10 years to kill a mature tree. Another thing about the hemlock is that after it's dead it doesn't deteriorate fast like a hardwood tree. You probably know how dangerous falling ash limbs are. Many forest workers have been injured and some killed by falling ash limbs. Thanks for showing these videos. I'm pretty old but still learning about forest plant life from you.

I love birch beer! I believe there is still a company that makes birch beer with birch oil
@@PACreekWalker I’ll bet that would be really good! You can smell it in the bark of the trees, always makes me want a birch beer! Lol.
