What a comprehensive video that covers every aspect of shooting. Great stuff Jeremy! Personally, when I started dipping more during my shot, my percentages shot up
I only wish that more coaches would spend time on teaching shooting, but I understand its very difficult and time consuming to teach each individual player on a team. I started developing/changing my daughters jumpshot in the 4th grade (two hand push) and it took a year and half to get the right form but it was well worth the time. There are some bad forms out there that work but majority of them fail under pressure conditions. I also think that coaches teach girls a different shot than boys, I see alot of high set push shots and pushing hips backwards etc; every time i see it in the gym i want to walk over but I understand that everyone not receptive to changing. I teach these exact principles and it is refreshing to have someone explain it to back up my way of thinking. Great video. I was at a basketball camp that teaches square toes and me and coach had a 2 day debate on toes left for right handers vs square. That made me think, I shoot one foot slightly in front of the other for free throws; I never actually thought about applying these to the free throws, great shooters are usually good ft shooters as well. What are your thoughts in relation to jumpshot and free throws (which is another neglected skill) and applying these principles.
Thanks for the feedback! I found that by the time kids are in HS it's very hard to correct bad shooting habits. I personally like the simplicity of a push shot (Steph curry) but I think based on your size and position your shot may differ. If you look at Kyrie Irving, He turns his feet on his normal jump shot but he squares his toes when he shoots free throws. I personally like to turn my feet when I shoot free throws. I think it comes down to what you're comfortable doing on free throws.
i think the so called sweep and sway is important for me, i often forget to do it. and even in close range set shots in the paint, i struggle to full extend my arm upward because of shoulder tension, i end up shooting forward and the ball slips out of my wrong fingers and it wont go straight, have low arch and often shorts. but when i "push" my shoulders backwards, i can fully extend my shooting arm and get way higher arch and can feel the power transfering to my shot, and have much easier time making shots and many are swishes. i have to remind myself to do that.
i need help im good shooting off the dribble. But catch and shoot I sometimes catch the ball wrong how do I fix that? or should I shoot the ball how I catch?
Some players will catch the ball and shoot how they catch it. Really good shooters will find the grooves on the ball everytime when they catch. (Some do it without thinking) It's really a preference, but I would try and find the grooves on the ball for consistency. It just takes practice. While the ball is being passed to you, focus on the rotation of the ball and try to catch the ball accordingly. You may have to make a small adjustment with your hands once you catch the ball.
Check your hand placement on the ball. Odds are, your middle and ring finger are placed around the needle. Adjust your hand as need be. If that's not the case, just continue to work on having the ball come off your pointer and/or middle. It takes alot of practice before it comes automatic.
One of the best coach/ trainer on UA-cam. I found you from the hesitation video a long time ago
I appreciate it! I wish I was able to keep it up throughout the years. Thanks for staying with me!

I'm glad to hear that! Dipping that ball creates a lot of rhythm!
Thank you 🏀

@@jeremyshardo325 thank you for the advice and the reply I will implement this into my drills
palm rotation
Hey, I notice that my shot comes off my middle and ring finger. Do you have any tips to fix this?
