do you start the shooting motion on the way up and release when you are at the highest for pull up ?

I know it's been 9 months but depends on the defence, if you got space just do a normal motion, if you're in an akward angle adjust on the air anf shoot a 2 motion

Yes. You want to release the ball at the top of your jump.
Don't release the ball on the way down!
