    I grew up around the corner from Sleepy Hollow and it is such a beautiful and serene place. Great for kayaking and fishing. My first school was actually at the corner of Shepardsville and Price Road.

      I will also add - I have a lot of fond memories from Sleepy Hollow growing up. One of my friends dad was a DNR officer there!

    We totally need to spend more time in Michigan. We're embarrassed to say that we've only spent 3 nights at the Soo Locks. Who goes to the U.P. for only 3 nights? We'll get there again... We loved the coffee footage at the beginning. We use a percolator as well.

      We love coffee! I'm debating taking a small roaster with us so I can custom roast green beans. We will be in the UP in June - Indian Lake and Palms Book area. Kitch-iti-kipi spring in Palms Book is amazing! Thanks so much for watching and commenting.

      Yeah only three days in the Soo is just a little taste of things to see and do up there! 3 days is better than nothing, hopefully you at least got to see Tahquamenon Falls and Point Iroquois lighthouse!

      @@georgekn3mp the UP was just a pass-through this time as we made our way back to Port Huron from South Dakota. We need to do a deep dive in the UP. Both Michelle and I are life long Michigan residents… until about a week ago! 🤫

      @@airstreamerwe spent a week around Munising and Pictured Rocks in May 2021 then a beautiful fall color tour week in the Keweenaw Peninsula in October 2021. We loved both those long trips, and for the Keweenaw trip we actually rode the S.S. Badger car ferry from Ludington to Manitowoc WI across Lake Michigan to shave off 4 hours of the 9 hour drive to get to the Keweenaw. Copper Country is so interesting and beautiful in the fall color season. But a winter vacay up there would be too cold for us 😂
      You just can't beat Lake of the Clouds in fall colors....

    We have walked the trails at Sleepy Hollow, around the lake and through the prairie lands near the rental cabins. It's a nice small State Park and I don't think it ever gets as crowded as the big parks like Ludington State Park or like Mackinac Island is packed all summer long

    • @airstreamer
      @airstreamer  Рік тому +2

      Michigan has some truly great state parks. We avoid Ludington, Holland, and other crowded parks. Tawas is a favorite, and we just discovered Otsego Lake. Thanks for watching and commenting.

    • @georgekn3mp
      @georgekn3mp Рік тому +1

      @@airstreamer I agree Ludington State Park can be hard just getting into the park in the summer, just waiting to pass the main gate. Holland State Park is like that too. We have visited almost every state park but our favorites have been Wilderness State Park, Straits State Park and our closest local State Park, Seven Lakes in Holly. Lakeport and Sleeper and Port Crescent are great parks too up in the Thumb. We also love Tawas State Park, that's about a two hour drive from where we live in Macomb County. It's shrinking fast, half flooded half the time.

      @@georgekn3mp if you didn’t know, we’re based in Port Huron through August, then we hit the road full time. I grew up in Holland, and got sunburned at that beach every summer. 🌞 The west coast of Michigan is so beautiful!

      @@airstreamer definitely the Sunrise Side and Sunset side are so different, there are some nice beaches along Lake Huron but definitely a lot more on the west coast. For us, the rocky beaches along Lake Huron are even more fun for rock hunting compared to the sandy beaches on the west side. We love a day trip to the Mighty Mac and back, we just need to get to Rockport State Park someday. The only park we haven't been to along the east coast.

    This is a great video Jim! It gives you all the info that you need to determine if this would be a good place for people to stay at. Great look around. My mom and stepdad used to camp at this state park, it's only about 60 miles away from Jackson.

    So, I live in Michigan, in fact, not far from sleepy Hollow. It has been my experience that this is one of the not so nice state parks. It’s ok and a great place to camp for your first time with a camper or whatever gear you use. But there are a lot nicer camping options throughout the State.

      Life long Michigan residents ourselves... well, we're now South Dakota residents since June! 😁 The great thing about Michigan State Parks is their variety. Our favorites include Higgins Lake, Indian Lake, Tawas, and Metamora Hadley. We recently discovered Otsego Lake, what a gem! This was our first time visiting Sleepy Hollow, and it was a much better park than we expected. Thanks so much for watching and commenting.
