Have you found a way to record through one lens only but still get that immersive feeling as with recording with both lenses and viewing through GearVR? I understand you wont have full 360 degrees of view but I'm only looking for 180 degrees of view. Currently when recording with one lens and view through GearVR, it's like it was done with a regular camera.

UA-cam still has to figure out best 360 compression - so, even though you'll see your 360 raw footage in crystal clear HD once uploaded it will be degraded. However - no complaints yet on how cool this concept is and have fun shooting
well in this review you did not mention the bad things at all, like bad stitching if objects are close, overheating, and blurring because lens gets hot
I really like 360 video. I find myself feeling like i'm missing something when watching regular video now. Several time in this video even I wish I could have looked around to see more of the surrounding area than was in the frame.

I've taken the liberty of suggesting an alternative phrasing for the each of the following times: 0:32 On either end _IS A_ large fisheye _LENS_ 4:07 You have _ONE_ 180° video _CAMERA_ on _EACH SIDE_ of this little sphere 4:32 You're actually getting _A/ONE_ very high-quality fisheye-_LENSED SENSOR_ on either end of the sphere 5:43 Especially when you have _A SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT EXPOSURE_ on _EACH OF THESE LENSES_ Obviously we can see the product in the review and we know that there's only one lens per side, but your verbal description taken alone is kind of misleading.
Have one, unless you have a Samsung 6-8 phone there is no way to adjust the settings. The camera records in approximately 8 minute blocks and about 1.765GB. The software that comes with it will take hours processing just on of those blocks. Good news, Windows Media Player will do it in two or three minutes. I use mine for a dashcam, records video of everything inside and outside the car. There is a one inch gap between the lenses that is visible when the video is stitched. And you will need to use some form of heat sink for longer videos else the camera will shutdown. But overall, the problems aare things that I can live with.

Wow... so you can't even use this with other brands...that's a huge let down, they're turning into Apple with their exclusiveness, they really should go all Tizen and be done with it. It's pretty cool how you're able to use a single lens, too bad you couldn't use both for 2 different video feeds, would be great if you'd want to cut between the two for interviews. Does it do HDR video like the S7? Editing is way better than the LG's 360 cam that's for sure, definitely worth the extra $$$, just sucks it's Samsung only.
Satya Sarma yes but have u tried good quality 4k 360 3d with spatial audio with something dirt cheap like the vrbox2 and a 1440p phone.......it's not quite "looking at a video" .....it's stepping into a different reality even without positional tracking and with positional tracking and controllers it's unreal
I'm still a little confused. I'm trying to understand how I can use this the way I need it. I want to make a 360 video of a Japan trip I'm going on soon. but I would need this to continuously record until the SD card is full and then I would just replace it and continue the process and the same thing with the battery. So how could I use something like this and that application? because you need a phone to make it work properly?
With a phone you can easily change it's settings (or use the buttons on the Gear 360). After that, just hit record and that's all there is to it. Switch your micro sd cards whenever it gets near to full and that's all. Just make sure to bring an micro-sd card carrying box with you.

I'll give you the answer 6 years later, no it doesn't work. It installs but when you try to launch the app it crashes immediately.
