Wanna be in dentistry but What if I feel squeamish about working with someone’s mouth ? Or what if I feel extraction is fearful to me ? Is that a sign that dentistry doesn’t fit me or do I get used to that by time ?!
To elaborate from 6:43 , are there “private study” type slots throughout the day, like sixth form, or just constant lecture/seminar/lab/etc from 9-5? And great vid btw👍
Great Q! So at uni your private study time isn’t on your timetables like it is in 6th form you don’t have a free “study period”. It’s expected you do all your private studying after uni / when you’re not timetabled to be in uni. Every year is different from each other. Year 1-3 it’s mainly lectures and labs with clinical sessions increasing gradually. In 4th and 5th year it’s mainly clinics. You have either a morning clinical session (which lasts 9am-12:30) or an afternoon session (1:30-5) or both! In 5th year it’s common to be on clinics morning and afternoon most days! Does this help?
great vid. yk at 3:05, what is the proper term for that yellow mouth model, and what is the material called? i remember making it at an open day so i might bring it up during interview
Hi, I have an interview coming up with Leeds very soon for dentistry. I'd just like to ask, how long should I spend per question. I don't want to waffle and I don't want my answer to be too short. How would I know if I have spoken enough? Thanks
In the interview, when you mention a pro of dentistry, which happens to be the same for medicine, would they ask you to compare the two? For example dentistry is ever evolving, would the interviewer say that medicine is also evolving so why dentistry?
im choosing my a levels this year as an aspiring dentist! but I’m really worried my GCSEs won’t be as good because of Covid, all of my predicted grades are B’s with a couple of A’s and an A*, do you think I should rule it out? Love the video!🤍
Amazing!! Check out entry requirements for each uni that offers dentistry! At Leeds you need a minimum of 6 GCSEs grade B or higher or 6 or higher! So you should be perfectly fine!!! ❤️
@@elenashahir4846 I just watched your video about choosing dental school and I am really considering Leeds now! I know it’s 2-3 years away but a girl can dream 😅
@@poppymae687 hahah I love it here! And no it’s amazing to know as early as possible! That way you have LOADS of time to boost your application and secure your place 🥰
From experience, don’t do dentistry. If I got to do it over again I’d do medicine. There’s a lot more choice in it; with dentistry if you don’t like the job you have no other options.
It’s not right to tell someone not to do a career because you didn’t enjoy it and try to put them off. We have done several work experience to make sure this is the career we want and it’s amazing if we do enjoy it.
I'm so sad to hear that you have had negative experiences! I can see why you say there are more options in medicine, i personally love dentistry and think there are plenty of options, even more than i knew of so im very sorry that you've had bad experiences with it.
Let me know how you guys found this video ❤️

Oh amazing!! Each station will have an allocated number of minutes around 5-10 mins each so I’d say just keep going for the time you’ve got xxx
