Fantastic game and awesome video! I will spend two words for GM King's courses. I own both his Chessable "The Kalashnikov" and "King's Anti-Sicilians for Black" courses and they are very good. No, he doesn't pay me to write this : ) I do it just because I appreciate these videos, that help me understand better these openings.

Same, own them both AND the book! All great. The Anti-Sicilian course is a very nice compliment to the Kalashnikov course as it basically covers most of the other possible Sicilian openings people may play, if they choose to pass on the open Sicilian.

That was no picnic for Raghav. Just ask McDonnell when he got destroyed by La Bourdonnais. Connected passed pawns on the second/seventh rank are so strong! Wonderful game find and analysis Daniel!

    Great game!
In would recommend presenting the famous Smirin-Short game from 1993 I think, with a similar fantastic pawn storm. It didn't result in a win, but nevertheless was just as brilliant

It's remarkable how similar the structure is to the Magnus Sveshnikov lines with 7.Nd5

Pawn mate is always a classic, but I almost prefer fxg2 and Nf3# here. A bit prettier with the pawn on e3 preventing the escape of the king.

Thank you GM King! Really enjoying the Kalashnikov videos! I am thinking about the course/book at some point. I have noticed in a lot of these games the black player is often 100-200 pts higher rated. Do you think there is a reason for this? Just curious what the theoretical status of the Kalashnikov is. If it would be fine for the main weapon as black for 1900--2100 FIDE.....? Thanks again!

The opening is theoretically sound. Yes, it would be good as a main weapon. The rating differential is coincidental.

Daniel King is one of my favorite chess commentators, but I wish he wasn't always on the look out for money.

I mean, has 1. e4 been refuted? Seems like White never had a chance in this game.

The open sicilian is basically equal, white's best try is the rossolimo
