Why do people like to bring Dave on as a contrarian to their views just for him to absolutely own them? Not complaining, just surprised every time. Dave is the man.
Makes for good drama/content. I suspect these coupla elders were intentionally acting incapable of communicating a thought or finishing a sentence so Dave would look like a saint by contrast.

Yeah, I had a similar reaction when I tried to watch the episode with Aaron Mate. Admittedly, I'm here listening to this now... but it's very frustrating.

Neither comparison is correct. This is a proxy war, with Israel and the collective West on one side, the Palestinians and the Arabs, China and Russia on the other. Neither of the main fighters in the war are the big fish.

At one point, Noam concedes that Palestinians have the right to defend themselves, but says that they can't slaughter civilians (how many civilians is Israel slaughering right now ?), that they can send rockets if they also wanted peace.
But Israel apparently has the right to bomb because it is just assumed that they want peace, even though Netyanahu himself says otherwise in the leaked video, even though there are 750,000 settlers in the West Bank, and only expanding. But they definitely want peace.

What I learnt from this is treating someone in good faith to their ill-informed points, passive aggressive demeanour and embarrassing attempts at entrapment is incredibly effective. It'll take me 1000 years to learn it and it's miraculous how Dave does it without hesitation. Beautiful to watch.

I am 50 minutes in and the host has spoken for pretty much the entire time and makes about 20 silly points before Dave gets to say a few words about one of them. The host is not confident of his views and not interested in finding out the truth, he just wants to control and win the argument with sophistry. So transparent. One can't be seen to learn something on a topic they are implying or directly saying they are correct on, especially if they have references. Doing so would make them look ill informed and their judgement on sources look questionable. Interrupting is a defense mechanism for the ego in this case.

This guy debating Dave seems intelligent, but he's a dishonest debater often appealing to authority, framing Dave's arguments into strawmen, outright wrong about dave "having it in for him" and would frequently cut dave off after making great points and then would often amend his statements he made prior to dave dunking on him.

Never heard of this podcast before Dave was invited. Hearing Noam makes me wonder about his capability to comprehend anything at all. He constantly tries to refute points that were never made, hears what he thinks the other person is saying, rather than what is actually said, and constantly interrupts the guest. He really needs to work in actively listening. It's frustrating...and Dave shows the patience of a Saint.
