OMFreakin'G! This woman can fucking sing! I have had the honor of meeting her and the pleasure of hearing her sing live at a convention I attended. Her voice is an amazing and powerful instrument of which she has complete control because she has taken care of it. No matter how many times I hear it, I would repeatedly watch her sing "And I am Telling You" and still get the same chills I got during the first time I saw her.

That was one hell of a performance.
One of the greatest singers of our lifetime- the songs from her broadway shows, albums, stint on Alley McBeal, and concerts all prove this, and yet she is so underrated. I notice that so many times she has to give cues to the musicians when she sings because they seem to either not be able to keep up, or understand the direction she is going with that hurricane of a voice. But in the end she gets the job done and stays professional. Unlike wannabe singers with record contracts these days who go running off stage crying because they hit a wrong note, lol. She's the best. Time is running out though... give us that glorious Broadway Showtunes album we have been dying to hear Jennifer- the one with classic Black Broadway songs and iconic showstoppers. Unfortunately, Nell Carter passed too soon before we got a Broadway album from her.

You've shown your ignorance about singing by exposing that you think "slow songs" aren't difficult. Breath support in a ballad can be challenging for the untrained singer and sustained high notes during a ballad (that's what a "slow song" is called precious) require control, so no sweetie "slow songs" aren't necessarily easier than uptempo, just depends on the song. Show tunes aren't simple to sing. I'll be waiting on your video.

this is very different for Jennifer...and I don't think she can reach her high notes anymore. Which is sad because I LIVED for her high notes. Maybe age is playin a part in that.
She was never known for her high notes, but for the power in her voice. If you want high notes, check out Joan Sutherland.
