Nar Shaddaa is a wealthy, ungoverned smuggler moon orbiting Nal Hutta, though controlled by the Hutt Cartel; it is entirely covered with interlocking spaceport facilities and mile-high dock towers. The upper levels of the buildings are a popular tourist destination, where the wealthy residents live, but there is a lot of brutality in the lower levels. Inside the moon, entrepreneurs conducted dangerous experiments on involuntary test subjects to develop more advanced technology.

It's the hidden darkness out there somewhere and just lurking beneath the surface, and Kotor 2's soundtrack does an excellent job of conveying that. Every part of Nar Shadaa is a bad neighborhood too.

Which really makes me wish they hadn't canceled KOTOR 3. We could've gotten a better version of the True Sith.

Nar Shaddaa is definitely the Gotham City of Star Wars, whereas Coruscant is their Metropolis.
